LETTER FROM THE EDITOR ROBERTA DEANNE B. MARTIN Editor-In-Chief

Recovery is the action or process of regaining strength from a certain situation. With that, the best is yet to come; It is alright to fail and get tired as long as you will stand up and recover through redemption. Behind every issue, the editorial board and staff have experienced a lot of struggle with the time and revisions. It is indeed wearying. However, we kept in mind that difficult roads, always lead to a beautiful destination. Through our passion for writing, we have decided to rest, get up, and continue to live in the world of journalism.

Living in this contemporary world where we encounter different crises in our life one of which is the COVID-19 Pandemic that greatly affected our physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental health is certainly hard to recover from. In a country where getting professional help entails you being financially stable to get the assistance you need. It is vital to always have a positive mindset and never doubt your capabilities. In times of hardships, always remember that it is alright to get tired and rest for a while. Hence, always remind yourself what do you want the outcome to be. Always remind yourself of your dream and your number one goal. So as failing; failing will never be the end of your journey, hence, it will be part of your success. Do not be doomed in sadness because you failed. Failing once does not mean that you are going to fail in everything that you do. Always evoke your purpose and your worth that you are you, and you can be who you ever want to be. Rizalians and readers of the 3rd issue of The Scroll, may you continue to be the best version of yourself. Always remember to recover through redemption always in all ways. We thank you for your utmost support in every issue of The

Parental Portal on the rise

© Adriane Marteja

Parental guidance in education has always been a responsibility held by parents. With the rise of online modular learning, parents are always on edge as technology and internet is equal and open to various distractions to their child's education. However, is this parent portal really necessary for high school students as it does in elementary and kindergarten students? In a parent's perspective, watching over their child's journey in education is top priority. But how long will this parental duty take effect in their child's life? Until they graduate or perhaps after they have reached a certain level of maturity. It is understandable as seeing your child learn and grow as an individual is gratifying, keeping them away from distractions to focus on learning, and parental participation can foster a healthy relationship with the child whilst opening their minds to opportunities

that may arise. There is just one miscalculation in this act of good will - the repercussions the child will get after a misunderstanding from their parents’ involvement in their academics, especially as they get older. Some children may get paranoid after being involved by their parents over their education, and as online modular learning is adapted in a pandemic, that involvement that may have only been at least 8 hours a day, has become 24/7. High school students are the turning point in one's adolescence. It is also a time where they will open up a sense of maturity and independence. It is no doubt that rebellious phases in someone’s life happens in puberty, along with many factors affecting a high school student's mental health may prove to be a reason behind any disagreement with the parent portal.

Morning presentation proves that anyone can be fit By: Carlo Gabriel F. Ducut On the 17th of February 2022, the Junior High School division hosted yet another Morning Presentation for this year’s University Week anchored to the theme ‘Wellness is life: Road to recovery’. The program starts with a greeting from this year’s master of ceremony Sophia Charlize Perez followed by welcome remarks from the coordinator of the program Mrs, Gemma V. Garcia. After the welcome remarks, the members of the ‘Sayaw Rizaliana’ club performed an opening dance number. After the very energetic opening dance number from the members of Sayaw Rizaliana, the first main part of the program began which is the wellness dance with the theme ‘Making a difference through excellence’. The wellness dance was performed by the students of grade 7, grade 8, grade 9 and the students of grade 10. Next, after the wellness dance, Jeane Gale Delos Santos performed her rendition of the song “Just a friend to you”. In the second part of the program, the viewers get to see the talent of the JHS students through their aerobic dance performances. The 9th-grade students were the first to perform the aerobic dance followed by the 8th-grade students, 7th-grade students and finally, the 10th-grade students. These presentations have shown us that Rizalians are keeping themselves fit even when we are in the middle of a pandemic as stated by the master of ceremony. During the third part of the program, the 10th-grade students from different sections performed different zumba dances which were first, the Putrajaya Malaysian dance, second, the Abaila Vietnam fitness dance, and lastly the Toca Toca kid dance. The viewers of the program have seen that the students are capable of being physically fit through different aerobic dances. But it’s not just the students. In the second to the last part of the program, the parents of the students showed us that they are also capable of being physically fit through the “Junior High School parents TikTok wellness challenge”. As the morning presentation come to an end, Sophia Perez, the master of ceremony, thanked the Junior High School Social studies department and the principal of the JHS division Ms. Grace Marie B. Martin for making the program a success.

Then and Now: “Rizalians Journey to Resiliency”, this was the theme of Junior High School’s Afternoon Presentation held last 17th of February via Facebook Live, with the aim to reminisce the way of overcoming long journeys through a variety show entitled “Rizaliancy.” As they partake in Tiktok sketches, dancing, and raffles, this year Rizalians witnessed a twist to the traditional way of its celebration. During the opening number, students performed an original song “Journey to Rizaliancy,” pursuing the message of making a difference to a better world, in connection to the program's theme. Together with the host’s quirkiness towards the show, she managed to convey positivity to the audience proving that Rizalian’s pandemic is just part of a challenge that can’t take away their joy and still adapt to changes. Throughout the four segments, each has different agendas presented, one of them is a fashion editorial entitled “If” that tackles the eras of fashion paired with the new trendy attire masks, it also features working-class men and empowered women. Hence, “Student’s Memory Lane” and “Gunita” are on the same page but with different fonts, the other talks about face-toface situations they could relate to, and the other shows the childhood experiences they remembered growing up. They also incorporated spoofs of old commercials and brought them back to life, examples of those are “WcDonalds” and “Tender Choosy.” Hence, “Rizaliancy” not only offered a range of creative skits and funny moments, but it also provided trivia question games that viewers attentively answered mainly because of the inclusion of prizes. The presentation also persuaded them to share their own experiences that they look back into in a segment called “Rizaliano Anong Kwento Mo”. As the show came to an end, the master of ceremony Keisha Candari quoted a message “ Remember that happiness starts with every bit of your existence,” which reminds Rizalians to stay joyous where we are and how we live. Followed by Mrs. Cecilia Mangabat’s acknowledgment thanking the whole committee for their successful presentation.

06 news ‘A Phantom Chance’ marks the celebration of JRU’s jubilee By: Marcus Dwein Ferrer In preparation for the evening program of the annual university week celebration, the Junior High School presented an original film entitled “A Phantom Chance” aired on February 17 at 6 pm, live via JRU Facebook page. Getting the show on the road, the JHS division principal, Mrs. Grace Marie Martin gave the audience a comprehensive view of the film starring John Michael Ramoso as “Maddox Barlowe” portraying a hardworking student who’s a bit of a perfectionist. It follows the story of Maddox, an orphan who lives with his aunt and uncle as he seeks for someone with whom he can share his deepest secrets. He then met Estee, played by Sophia Perez, a good friend who helped him cope with his grief and loss of his mother, played by Roberta Deanne Martin. The film emphasizes the importance of acceptance, forgiveness, and moving forward. Soon after, Christian Patrick Garcia, a Grade 10 student and the director of the film acknowledged the production team who contributed to the presentation’s success. The Scroll had the chance to hear from the head director and the script director of the film; Christian Patrick Garcia and Leckxeen Merl Epondulan where they shared their thoughts about the film. According to Christian they started to plan around mid-December when Mrs. Rovelyn Arcilla asked for experienced directors and writers who would be part of the evening presentation. He also gave the production crew some tips for next year's evening presentation. “As much as possible, damihan niyo yung time niyo for Evening kasi maraming expectations lagi, so mas okay nang puyat kaysa pangit yung gawa”, he said. (Make as much time as possible for evening because there will be expectations; I believe it is better to spend sleepless nights than to create a lackluster film.)

© JRU FB Page

Leckxeen, also a Grade 10 student, stated, “In the end, marami ring revisions dahil sa approvals ng teachers, gusto nila mas bongga ganoon since evening presentation nga, ‘yun yung highlight ng U Week ng JHS”, she said. (In the end, there were also a lot of revisions based on the teacher’s approvals; they wanted it to be extravagant since the evening presentation is the highlight of JHS’ University Week.) Over the last few years, JRU-JHS’ evening program featured musicals over films. A Phantom Chance was the second virtual presentation, preceded by last year’s Meteor Fate. Christian noted that it was better to have an actual evening presentation than a virtual evening presentation done face-to-face. “Para sa akin mas better yung in person since the school hires experienced directors. Also, mas marami yung time for rehearsals and practice. And communication is much better din kasi person-to-person yung interaction. While sa virtual, maraming ginagawa since may editors pa. ‘Di rin tayo pwedeng magkaroon ng physical meeting with others.”, he said. (It's preferable in person for me because the school employs experienced directors. Additionally, more time will be available for rehearsals and practice and the interaction is person-to-person, communication is much improved. There is still a lot to do in the virtual because we need editors. We are also unable to meet with others in person.) As the film officially ended, a post-credit scene with the JRU Senior High School (SHS) division's morning presentation teaser appeared.

Rizalians on the spotlight By: Xian Dondonilla

The Rizalians of the Junior High School division have a wide variety of students whose achievements deserve to be shown in the spotlight. Which is why, the exhibit of the university’s 103rd foundation anniversary is here to present to you the amazing achievements of not only the rizalians of the Junior High School division but some of its faculty members and other students. With the theme “Excellence, Agility, Resilience” this year’s exhibit aims to show you the achievements of those who brought pride and triumph to our institution. Each feature shows the achievements and inspirational speech from each achiever. I believe that these people who are part of this exhibit truly brought pride to our institution. Every year, not only students but also the faculty of the university are achieving something new. Not just from academics but also sports and other extra curricular activities. Even in the pandemic, the students are capable of bringing home bacon from different activities, which just proves the resilience of the Rizalians despite being in a challenging situation. And who knows? Maybe the person reading this would be the next to do so.

Looking back the history of People Power Revolution By: Princess Hannah D. Carnaje

Shelves of written text and endless knowledge By: Stephanie Lagutom

On February 25, 2022, we celebrated the 36th People Power Revolution also known as the EDSA Revolution was remembered. But have you ever wondered what is the significance of this event and how it affected our fellow Filipinos, especially the youth during that time? The main objective of the EDSA Revolution was to end the dictatorship of former President

© Leckxeen Epondulan

Ferdinand E. Marcos who had the longest presidential term, 20-year rule, in Philippine history, and also to begin a new era marked by true freedom and democracy. At least hundreds of thousands of Filipinos flocked to EDSA from February 22 to February 25, 1986, to support the People Power Revolution. Many of them were office workers, families, nuns, priests, and students who were aiming and wanting for a change. "Despite the absence of the internet and social media, people were able to mobilize and show their numbers to protect the military defectors in Camp Aguinaldo with their bare bodies. The courage it inspired invited people to finally show their long-held defiance against a regime that had become the enemy of the people," said by Kristoffer Pasion, a historian. Soon, Marcos and his family were forced to abdicate power and leave the Philippines. The event surprised and inspired anti-authoritarian activists around the world. During that time, there were committed activists in the Philippines who worked tirelessly to broadcast news of the Marcoses' alleged human rights violations and ill-gotten wealth globally. This claim remains to be alleged up to this day. On the other hand, do you know that the People Power Revolution was the first nonviolent, bloodless revolution that ever took place? Despite the presence of tank-riding soldiers and big guns, not a single shot was fired. A People Power Monument was built to commemorate the event seven years after the revolution, in 1993. It is located at the corner of EDSA and White Plains Avenue, less than a kilometer away from the EDSA Shrine. Always remember our history because just like what they said, it provides us with a sense of identity and makes us who we are today. Understanding the important events in the past can help us decide wisely in the future.

© Scroll “Reading can help us discover and learn new things that can be helpful in our daily lives.” -Mrs. Maria Lilian Matutina Books have been a part of humans’ lives as early as the 14th century, but how did reading books affect our everyday lives? In reading, we receive and process information; either use the newly found information for studies or just to keep you entertained by being in the know. There are lots of benefits in reading through reading, it improves one's focus, memory, and communication skills Mrs. Matutina stated, To celebrate the importance of reading, the Booktalk Showdown and the Author’s talk were held last November 19, 2021, and December 12, 2021. The annually held Booktalk Showdown advocates the Rizalians, mostly the Booklovers club, passion for reading through a contest while the Author’s talk was the sharing of experiences and passion for books of the speaker. In these events the Rizalians' love for reading was featured and voiced out, it was an activity in which people with the same interest in reading gathered together and expressed their fondness of books. These events provide Rizalians to be in an environment where they can express their inclination in reading and maybe find people with the same taste in book genres; it should be boosted and appreciated since it tackles how important the knowledge students can obtain from reading is. That is why the Junior High School library serves an important role in providing the students with books of different genres and purposes to nurture their knowledge and wisdom not only in school but also in life. The JHS library encourages students to take a visit to the library or the OPAC site to gain access to the books that they provide. The Chinese New year is based on the lunar calendar or the cycles of the moon. Therefore the Chinese New Year date changes every year as we welcome it. We have students that are part of the Filipino-Chinese community,. Through the survey where JRU Junior High School students participated and asked on how they celebrate Chinese New Year. Wearing red on every occasion has been a tradition for the Chinese as it is a lucky color for them. They usually prepare food with their families and put lucky charms around the house for prosperity. To some students, it's just a simple holiday. Many of us don’t celebrate Chinese New Year because we feel like we don’t need to. We often receive Tikoy and Ang Pao with money inside from Chinese people during the Chinese New Year.

© Cayie Martin Lion Dance, Tikoy, and Ang Pao remind us of Chinese New Year. Chinese New year, also known as Lunar New Year, is celebrated by Asians every year.

Unlike the usual new year celebration, the Chinese new year is celebrated for a week. This year, the welcoming of the Chinese New Year is much simpler because of the pandemic restrictions. Spending time with our family is what’s most important during the Chinese New Year celebration. Respect one’s family traditions or superstitions even if you don’t celebrate the Lunar New Year.

FACULTY FEATURE Career ladder and perseverance By: Princess Hannah D. Carnaje ang magtahi ng mga nakikita kong magagandang kasuotan sa dyaryo at telebisyon," she said. "Pero heto ako ngayon nasa linya ng pagtuturo at minamahal ito ng lubos." She was inspired by her Filipino teacher when she was in fourth year of high school. That is why she chose to be in Major in Filipino.

The two new faculty members did not plan to be a teacher by choice, thus both of them had different dreams ever since they were little. However, destiny led them to another path that brought them into teaching, and as that goes by they showed no regrets but became better educators themselves. In fact, both of them fell in love with teaching as they make an impact on the lives of their students. Ms. Monina R. Bornel is a 26-year-old Mathematics teacher who graduated with a Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics. She worked as a Senior High School teacher at Arellano University for two years and at Jose Rizal University for four consecutive years. She is possibly a manager or an accountant if she is not a teacher since she was a big fan of Math. She also wanted to work as a cashier when she was a kid. She moved to Manila after graduating college to take the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) and find a job as well in the city. She stated that hours of studying is her outlet in order to pass the LET exam. She has been teaching for six years and currently handles the subjects General Mathematics, Solid Geometry, Statistics and Probability, Pre-Calculus, Integer Calculus, and Business Mathematics. Miss Bornel has a hobby of watching Korean Dramas and Hollywood movies during her free time. She was also a fan of Korean music. When it comes to this 'new normal' online teaching, she stated, "To be honest, when I heard about the online class, I was intrigued. I'm not sure how I'm going to educate my students online, especially when it comes to Math. My students, I'm sure, want to witness how it's solved in action. I also consider how my students would interact with one another. However, I'm grateful that JRU has held webinars and training on how to use online learning to its advantage. I use what I've learned in webinars teaching tools to encourage students to actively participate. And, for the time being, I'm enjoying it." "To connect with our students in this time of the pandemic, it is important that we communicate. When it comes to communicating with them, I rely on online tools like messenger, emails, and canvas inbox. To the best of my ability, I try my best to respond to their inquiries," she answered when asked how she can connect to her students aside from virtual classes. When she was asked if there was a time in her life when things didn't go the way she wanted, she stated, "Those things have always happened to me, and they will always happen to us. But for me, it's a learning experience that helps me grow as a person. There was no such thing as a perfect period for me, or I was not able to grasp it. I always put my faith in God's method and know that he will provide it on time Her message to all Rizalians is, "Never stop imagining what you want to achieve. It's better to set a high goal than to set a low goal. Set your objectives and don't let your procrastination get the best of you. Rizalians, get up and get going! I always have faith in you." Another new teacher of Junior High School (JHS) is Ms. Jennisis Tactaquin Villuan. She was born on April 20, 1997, in Sta. Cruz Manila and a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Major in Filipino. Ms. Villuan worked as a sales assistant, college instructor, and senior high school Filipino teacher. Her childhood dream was to become a fashion designer. "Hilig ko kasi noon pa man

When she was asked what are the challenges she experienced before being a teacher, she answered, "Naku, marami. She has been teaching for a year and four months and handles Asignaturang Filipino of Grade 8 and Grade 10. Her hobby is to sew Do It Yourself (DIY) clothes and she also has an interest in cooking. "Talents? Ay parang wala akong talents. Hindi kasi ako magaling kumanta. Ayaw rin sa akin ng sayaw. Pero may bukod tanging talent ako na tinatangi mula noon hanggang ngayon, ang pagguhit." When she was asked how she adapt in this 'new normal' - online teaching, she said, "Sa totoo lang lahat tayo nahirapan noong una sa bagong set-up ng edukasyon. If she is not a teacher, she said that she sees herself as an architect because of her talent in drawing. Ms. Villuan's message to all Rizalians as a new JHS teacher, "Isa sa lagi kong pinapaalala sa mga mag-aaral na hawak ko ngayon ay ang pagiging maswerte nila sa gitna ng pandemyang ating nararanasan sa ngayon. Bakit? Padayon Rizalians!"

Lost on the day of love By: Kennett Gavin Dolomandin The freshness of the new year finally passes I change my look for the better from my shoes to glasses Walking out on the streets to be the hair to make a pair Who knew that finding love was so hard and unfair? Balloons floating both red and white For the day of love, I can no longer fight I desperately search for the one who will make me whole As the day is ending and to not look a fool

Clock strikes twelve, the clock reminds me I wait by the café to see who my partner would be A cup of coffee we drink as we talk and laugh For a wonderful woman is about to be my half We walk down the lit streets holding each other’s hand Thankful for the connection we had without anyone’s command Yet there was a piece of each other in which would break us Religion in which we differ, we need to further discuss Infront of her house she stood We thought that it didn’t matter and it was all good Family and community would beg to differ I now stand alone, broken, in distress and cold enough to shiver

Life, a mystery By: Jieane Gale Delos Santos Life, in other's perspective is miserable While others think it's incredible Some people think it's about physical things While others think it's about those things we cannot see But for me, Life is like a clock Tik-tok, tik-tok It starts in a certain point, And stops on another But life is also like a hill It may go up, to the middle, and even downhill Up when we are happy, middle when neutral And down when we feel negative But life is a mystery, It is full of surprises One day something unexpectedly good happens, and one day something unexpectedly might go wrong Life is on humans, animals and plants We are born or planted, we grow and later on we will pass away There's nothing we can do but to go with the flow We should enjoy every day we have, because not all of us get another tomorrow.

The Home I once had By: Kennett Gavin Dolomandin In the land of Cornaya there was a family, which had a role of father, mother and son. The father was a fighter in the pit. A way to gain money through violence and beatings. As the father withstood his first loss in decades of fighting, his reputation as the “Unbeatable Beast Man” was ruined. Losing the title, so did the pride and fighting spirit. He soon left the family due to self-disgust and humiliation leaving the son and mother to fend for themselves. As the son grew up seeing his father fight in the ring, he knew his victories and started following them. He was a menace in the pit, beating all his opponents with only his fist and his angst. He then earned the title of “The beast boy bastard” known throughout the land of Cornaya. With his earnings and strength, he then assumed the position as the master of the pit. He sits upon his throne in the highest point of the pit looking for worthy fighters in order to prove worthy of his title. One day, he heard that a very powerful foe had arrived in Cornaya. On that night the pit was full of an audience knowing how brutal and exciting the fight between Cornaya’s Pit Maser and the Mysterious Challenger. Walking into the ring every hair on the Pit Master’s body stood up for he knew that an intense fight was brewing. Face to face both the pit Master and the challenger took their stance. Between the obnoxiously loud audience and the smell of alcohol, the Pit Master thought “This is a great place to finally have the fight of my life” The two were fighting at Mach speed. Blows were exchanged and the silken coat of the Pit Master which was more expensive than the entire pit was now tattered and covered in blood. For him it didn’t matter anymore. He was fighting with all his life and energy. To anyone watching this fight would put them into adrenaline. But the shocker for the audience was the smile on both the Pit Master and the challenger. For no one has ever seen the Pit Master smile or fight seriously. Why does this seem so familiar? The Pit Master asked himself. As he turned to see his mother and a child cheering beside her. A surge of nostalgia hit him as he remembers the days he watched his father fight in the very same pit. But now his satisfaction turned into a fit of rage. His hair flowed upward changing to a bright blonde color. The Pit Master now enraged by the memory of his mother crying the father not to go. He landed a very heavy right straight punch with all his might. The Challenger is down!! Said the announcer. The crowd goes wild around the Pit. The pit master then finally got a good look at the challenger as he was passed out on the ground. You really took my place huh son? The challenger said. Dad? You came back? Said the Pit Master. But you shouldn’t have as he raised his hand once again. Before his father had the chance to say a word, the sound of crunching and the fist of the pit master was on his face. Get him outta here! Said the pit master. This is a home you once had, but this is no longer your home.

Picture frame By: Jieane Gale Delos Santos © Adriane Marteja My graduation day is fast approaching. I'm quite excited to finish Junior High and finally be able to study Arts and Design in Senior High. But something’s...missing. I feel like I need to do something before I graduate, a thing that is not what I usually do. I’m Keith, I’m 16 years old, currently in 10th grade. I’m the 6th and youngest child in my family. Well, actually, It seems like I’m an only child now. Since our father died when I was 10, my elder siblings became distant to me and mom. The eldest, Gaby, who is 14 years older than me, became a working student abroad. Ric and Tony didn’t go to college and both of them are working in Taiwan, Nora is a Lawyer, and Jade is studying to become a doctor in Manila. The last time we were all complete was Christmas and New Year before Dad died. We weren’t just distant physically, we were also distant emotionally and mentally. The day dad died, Gaby, Ric, Tony and Nora and Mom came in conflict with each other and never made up. Jade and I didn’t know their conflict, we just became witnesses while our family broke apart. also distant emotionally and mentally. The day dad died, Gaby, Ric, Tony and Nora and Mom came in conflict with each other and never made up. Jade and I didn’t know their conflict, we just became witnesses while our family broke apart. Later on, Jade called me to tell me some news. “Hey lit’l bro, I got news from our other siblings earlier!” she excitedly said, “Really? Wow, It’s been years since we last made contact with them!” I replied, “Gaby texted me saying she’ll arrive 2 days later, Rick and Tony will arrive 3 days later, and Nora will arrive...later today!” She said, “So that means mama and I should prepare the house for them? Yey! Wait..how about you, Jade?” “Me? Ha! Look at the front yard!” I quickly ran to seek the front yard, and I saw Jade waving at me there! I ran towards her and hugged her immediately. “I missed you!” I cried, “I told you, I won’t miss your graduation ceremony!” she replied. We went inside and mom prepared a meal for the three of us. The days passed, Nora, Rick, Tony and Gaby finally came home...but they still won’t have a proper conversation with mom. Jade and I secretly talked about it every night, and we decided to plan something! Operation ReUnion here we go! The 3 days before my graduation day, we visited dad’s grave and had a small picnic there. But, our other siblings brought their own food...they shared it with me and Jade but didn’t with mom and the others. So weird! I always loved to visit dad’s grave but now, I just want to go home. Jade told me that we should give them more time to get used to each other, and maybe they’ll talk. 2 days left, Jade invited every member of the family to play sports (...part of our plan) Rick and Tony played tennis together, Nora and Gaby played volleyball with me and Jade, well mom...didn’t play anything. At volleyball, Gaby and Jade teamed up, and Nora and I. Gaby and Nora didn’t want to be teammates after all. Jade and I had fun, but Gaby and Nora didn’t. At the end of the game the two started to argue and Jade and I tried to calm the both of them down but it didn’t work. Mom walked in, shockingly and stopped the two. And...another day making me want to just go home. In the middle of the night, I awoke hearing six voices arguing downstairs, so I tried to sneak and spy on them from the stairs. “You guys just started arguing in front of Jade and Keith! I told you, please just bear with it, Keith always dreamed of his graduation day with you guys” ''Oh, so now you’re saying that we don’t care about them? Remember who never sent anything when Jade needed to go to Med School!” “Look who’s talking” they kept going on and their voices became louder and angrier each time... I can’t bear it anymore, I feel very guilty. I only wanted all of us to be all reunited, even for just my graduation day. Well, they really don’t like each other that much anymore, huh? I always thought that there’s still a chance to get reunited. I was wrong. The day before my graduation, I decided to talk to all of them. “I know now the real reason why all of you came back...it’s to show me how ruined this family is.” I said, “Keith? What are you-” “I already heard everything, mom.” “I’m sorry for wishing for all of us to be reunited again, I was always stuck on my dreams and now, I see. Dreams really don’t come true.” “You are all free to leave today, I won’t stress you more” I left the house after saying those words. I ran further and further away from home with tears in my eyes. I’m always stuck on my fantasies and got blinded by it that I forgot that they are called fantasies because they will never come true. My feet are tired, but I kept on running, and running. Until I reached my limit. I don’t know where I am but I needed to rest so I sat down and fell asleep. I woke up on my bed, I was shocked so I quickly got up and went downstairs looking for everyone. Strange...they weren’t there, so I looked outside and...they’re all there! They looked happy and all of them were talking to each other, even without me noticing them! As they noticed me, they stopped chatting and all of their eyes were set on me. “We’re Sorry” all of them, except for Jade, said. “We’re sorry lil’ bro, We were devoured by our anger and hate that we forgot that we’re family” Ric said, “Sorry hunny, I should’ve fixed the issue first instead of forcingly reuniting our family, It’s my fault” mom said while caressing my cheek, “I forgive all of you, I would also like to apologize for running away, that wasn’t necessary” I said, “No worries, Keith” Gaby said. We all hugged each other. Later on, Jade told me that they made up later on the night I heard them arguing and became more close while looking for me. The day of my graduation finally arrived! Mom and Jade were the only ones who attended my graduation, because there’s still limits on venue due to the pandemic. But that day was really fun, we celebrated happily at home, ate delicious food and played fun games. I will forever cherish every moment I have with my family.

Karangalan By: Merliez Mandap “A-Alex..? Patawarin mo sana ako anak. Patawad dahil kahit kailan ‘di ko man lang naisip kung ano ang nararamdaman mo… Mahal na mahal kita anak, tandaan mo yan.” nalulungkot na batid ng ina ni Alexis habang nakatayo sa tapat ng pintuan ng kanyang silid. … “May line of eight ka nanaman? Last week, narinig ko sila Rea pinaguusapan ako. "I love you, ma.” "Mahal din kita anak. Patawad ulit…”
