The Use of Mind

by the Rev. Walt Sharer Minister / Practioner-Bishop Church of Religious Science

The Great Spirit Centuries ago, our scientist postulated that all matter consisted of a Universal element, they labeled either. The consolidation of this elemental substance into visible form had such theological implication that they still present division in people of faith throughout the world. That either joins its particles together to create form is not a problem, but the effect of the form is. What causes the coalescence to begin or end also creates problems of understanding. Why a loving deity would allow or permit what many would consider negative manifestations, presents problems in explanation. The problem comes from attributing personality to the undifferential spirit we call God. Explanations of what, who, and any number of inquiries to what God is very often are limited. Even Jesus attempted a simple explanation by referring to God as father. Part of the problem is that God is both Creator and Servant. That God would be a servant might require further explanation. The Bible tells us that it is the Father’s good pleasure to give us the kingdom, which means that you are determining what that kingdom is. It seems farfetched that God would reward your request for limitation, or even would is perceived as evil, but it’s whatever you desire that counts. Having said what is outlined above should give us all caution towards our expressed desires. The awareness that I am shaping my environment and situations is both awesome and frightening. Most people don’t seem to know that there thoughts, words and actions shape the Creative mechanism of the Universe. Medical professionals have known for years the relationship of emotions to either a disease or cure in the individual. As a Religious Scientist and a teacher of the philosophy, it is my job to help students to take control of their lives. Like any study, discipline to the basic premise is paramount, and that is that there is only One Mind in the Universe, and that is God’s Mind and we are all using it. How we use it is how It acts in our life. Like in mathematics, negatives added to negatives always result in negatives. Positives added to positives are always positive. Having pure negative or pure positive attitudes or intent rarely happens, at least in the beginning. We are emotional beings, however; we find it advantages to foster beneficial feelings toward our life experience. Those prone to wallow in negativity have a much harder time than some, but they can all come to eat at the table in the kingdom. Raymond Charles Barker wrote in his book, “The Cause and Cure of the Common Cold.” When a student comes to him with a cold, he asked, “Who did you get mad at?” This shows the relationship of negativity and its unfoldment. You don’t have to join the choir or even come to church to turn your life around. You don’t even need to believe in God, but you must recognize an intelligence propelling you to your destiny, but only you can make it happen. God is Love and Loving You Right Now!

Sportsman’s Corner by Duane Rossi

IS THIS MANAGEMENT? McMurray Meadows is seven miles west of Big Pine. The range between Birch Mountain and Kidd Mountain is known as Little Pine. At one time this area was grazed by sheep, cattle and turkeys and the deer were there by the hundreds. There was a pack station at McMurray and the first week of deer season they packed in so many deer hunters they employed four packers and a cook. The pack station is long gone; but, Glacier Pack Train packs anyone who is fortunate enough to draw a X9B tag into the area and they harvest some very fine bucks. I talked to a bow hunter who went into the area this fall that got within 70 feet of a very nice buck; but, the wind switched on him and all he got was a photo. He did see and got photographs a few things that might interest you. Deer bones that the Dept. likes to call winter kill, one dead bull elk and got photographs of two dead mountain sheep rams and four live mountain lions. The lions are all in the picture, you may need a magnifying glass to see them; but, they are all there. It appears to be a female with 3 large kittens that she is teaching how to kill. The three kittens will be out on their own next fall doing their own killing and the female will have another litter to teach how to kill. Now folks, it you think this carnage is an isolated incident you are badly mistaking this is going on in every canyon and mountain in California and around our deserts, cities and towns. Folks, I'll remind you again that the hardworking tax payers of California are paying 30 million dollars a year to protect the lion. Is there a word for gross insanity? Watch next week for more photos and carnage. Sponsored by Reagan’s Sporting Goods www.reaganssportinggoods.com

The mission statement of the American Legion Auxiliary simply states: “In the spirit of service, not self, the American Legion Auxiliary is to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who have serve.” However, we cannot continue to show our wonderful support to the Big Pine Community and our veterans without caring, active members who are willing to participate. If you are a wife, mother, daughter, sister, or grandmother, of a veteran who have served our great country during times of war, you may become a member.

The Big Pine American Legion Auxiliary will be hosting an official visit from District #27 President Norma Billings.
