like Pioneer Home Heath Care Inc. The Pioneer Home Health Care vision includes the notion that people remaining at home helps to speed up their recovery from a variety of medical issues. “A valued partner of Northern Inyo Healthcare District,” the Bishop, CA 501 (c) (3), since 1990, non-profit serves a broad community of clients from June Lake. CA to Lone Pine, CA. Pat West, who retired in February of 2020, turned over the reins of the organization to long-time RN, Ruby Allen. “We are always looking for top-notch caregivers and volunteers,” says Allen, who is busy directing the day-to-day operations at Pioneer Home Health Care. Pioneer Home Health Care provides a number of programs. “With a full spectrum of services including Home Health Care, Hospice, Personal Care, and Senior Care Management,” the “skilled team of caregivers” works with the primary care doctor and family / home to make the full circle of care. The Hospice program, which is initiated under a physician's orders, is quoted as, “Adding life to days when days can no longer be added to life.” Allen says, the focus of care is enhancing the quality of life. The program of Personal Caregivers can assist with grocery shopping, providing housekeeping, and helping keep a loved one supervised in their home. This assistance has out-of-pocket expense, Allen notes. However, these skilled individuals can offer a lot of hands-on help, when families might need assistance on a daily basis. The Home Health Care program is in conjunction with a physician, and is covered by Medicare, notes Allen. The program is “short-term, and goal-oriented,” Allen adds.

The Use of Mind

by the Rev. Walt Sharer Minister / Practioner-Bishop Church of Religious Science

The Unity of Being We live in a cause and effect world. Every cause has an effect, and every effect emanated from cause. In our world the cause is often if not always invisible, while the effect is what we behold. Mind is the realm of causation. Whether the Mind of God or the mind of man, the use of mind brings forth an effect. We are always utilizing the Mind of God, and consequently generating effects. In the Bible we read how God spoke and creation took place. That First Cause resulted in the cosmos, plants and animals, and mankind, and permitted them to evolve at their own rate. That is an incredible reaction to few words such as, “Let there be light!” But this is how cause and effect work. We might think that the reaction to God’s word would have significantly more power than own; however, we have the power to enhance our life experience or make it miserable. God can only bring us love, beauty and goodness. God is Spirit, which is life itself. God can only see good, be good and express good. We on the other hand, have a Choice: We can be encouraging of the good and very good, or we can be critical or rejecting of the good. Now, why would anybody in their right mind reject the good? Of course if we were in our right mind we would not reject the good, but just possibly, we are not always in our right mind. As in the case of the Bible we can see how words were the causative factor in initiating an effect, we can readily see that our use of words are equally effective. Spirit speaks words of perfection and perfection appears. Ernest Holmes tells us, “The Universe is a Spiritual System impregnated with Divine Ideas and peopled with Spiritual Forms. The ideas of God are perfect laws on their way to producing complete and prefect effects.” Thought is the instrument of Mind. As such, thoughts act as cause to our experience. When my teacher would say, “What you are thinking about, you are bringing about,” she was merely stating the law of cause and effect. Rocks, trees and the sea are all effects, but so are the conditions and circumstances in your life. When we look at our conditions and see something unwanted in our midst, it is the result of causation. Possibly negative thinking or a moment of rage brought it forth, but a change in cause can eliminate it from your life. New thoughts create new conditions. I had one student tell me that monitoring his thoughts and words were just to burdensome. Perhaps, he was satisfied with mediocrity. It is sometimes difficult and daunting to watch your thoughts, but it can be so rewarding. You are the cause and you reap the benefit of the effect. Start thinking about love and kindness, and be prepared to receive much more goodness, truth and beauty into your life! God is Love and Loving You Right Now!
