Home Sweet Home 2021
Home trends embrace comfort, function, and enjoyment By Christina Reed The Hired Pen Eastern Sierra, CA— People are enjoying living in spaces which take advantage of indoor to outdoor uses, and many are finding that doing home renovations can make their places a reflection of their personality. Homes are being renovated or newly built with simpler and cleaner lines of design, and rooms, such as hallways or small work rooms are getting a makeover or eliminated entirely. Efficiency is still a top priority in home construction, and many home designs incorporate multipurposes for rooms / spaces. Kitchens and baths are still focal points, however, home offices, libraries, and quiet, built-in nooks are also being added to our floor plans. Walk-in pantries are replacing walls of cupboards, and living / growing vertical herb gardens add handy fresh cooking ingredients. Window walls are creating a merging of outdoor light with interior ambiance, and bringing nature and and natural light into our daily lives. The pandemic made our homes our new offices and classrooms, and instead of the typical drive-to-work office / school space, we've had to design work places inside our existing home. Built-ins are one solution for some with desks, work tables, and storage for supplies being built into existing walls or cabinets. Our home spaces continue to change with our needs, and many renovation projects can be done with locally sourced materials
doors for openness, and home offices with furniture and things, which are souvenirs of our times. Trends Inside Out, High Country Lumber's additional storefront, located on Main Street in Bishop, CA, is a resource center / showroom of a large number of interior and exterior materials and items to purchase for your home / office / business / vacation home. There are appliances, such as refrigerators, ranges (stoves), washers and dryers, dish washers, wood stoves (pellet, wood and gas including installation), inserts for fireplaces, overthe-stove microwaves, flooring and carpeting (indi-
viduals will need to get these items installed on their own), cabinetry, doors, windows, counters, and kitchen and bath hardware. Trends Inside Out adds to Ace High Country Lumber's selection, between the two Main Street stores in Bishop and one in Mammoth Lakes, and many items can be ordered / delivered to the stores for pick up. Whether interior or exterior design or decor, our living spaces tell a story, and with the help of knowledgeable individuals and quality materials, we can transform or connect more of ourselves to these multiple spaces...our home sweet home.
Whether your home is a reflection of minimalist, maximalist, rustic, or industrial, our home's interior and exterior spaces tell a story about us. Wood stoves and rustic wood flooring can be found at Bishop's Trends Inside Out. Photos by The Hired Pen

The Use of Mind
by the Rev. Walt Sharer Minister / Practioner-Bishop Church of Religious Science
The Manifestation of Spirit We have come a long way in the past three weeks, but we have really only come to know how Infinite Intelligence working through Divine Wisdom progresses from the germination of idea or thought by means of Spirit, proceeds through the creative medium of Soul and ultimately comes to this week’s final part of the Trinity; Body. Body means the entire manifestation of Spirit on all planes. The Body is distinguished from idea, in that the Body is seen while the idea is not. The physical Universe is the Body of God- the invisible Principle of all life. In this Cause and Effect Universe, the Body is always the effect and never the cause. As all begins with Mind, which receives the life giving energy of Spirit, then is acted upon by the creative energy of Soul, and finally manifested as Body; we can begin to see how the original thought, be it positive or life enhancing or negative or unhealthy, can and will influence the condition of the manifestation. Psychology has shown that psychical (or subjective) disturbances produce physical reactions in the body. The body is the objective manifestation of a subjective mind and consciousness. Simply put, if we desire to be well and happy, our mind must be peaceful and harmonious. My teacher often said that the body is like our report card. Since the body is never cause and always effect, sickness and disease must emanate from a causative realm of fear or lack, loss or limitation. Spirit of Itself is formless and is not subject to time and place. We, on the other hand must have form to function on this plane and we deal with time and space on a regular basis. Time is merely when and space is where. Time is the past, present and future and space is where it all happens. Time and space are our reference points, but since Spirit is Omnipresent (ever present in and through all things) there is no limitation of time or space. Spirit is ever in the Now. When you pray or treat for a healing of mind, body or affairs, you are requesting an immediate answer and that’s what it will be. The answer to all prayers is within the prayer itself. In Religious Science we often hear the phrase, “Thoughts are things.” This may be a new concept to wrap your mind around, but it is important to note that your thoughts are the blue prints for what will appear in form. God said, “Let there be light, and there was light.” Made in the Image and after the Likeness, we too have the power of thought and word. This should cause some trepidation to be cautious with our thoughts and words. What you are speaking about, you are bringing about. Alchemists of old stated that everything is formed from the same substance, which they called ether. “Things which are seen are not made of things which do appear.” As the idea of a plant is contained within the seed, the ethers come together to bring about the form. We are forever herding ethers into the form we are bringing about by our thoughts and words. Wouldn’t it be nicer if we centered on the lovely? That would be Heaven on Earth. God is Love and Loving You Right Now!

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month Abril es el mes nacional de la Prevención del Abuso Infantil CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION
PREVENCIÓN DEL ABUSO INFANTIL
April was first declared Child Abuse Prevention Month by presidential proclamation in 1983. Since, then April has been a time to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse, and to promote the social and emotional well-being of children and families.
During the month of April and throughout the year communities are encouraged to share child abuse and neglect prevention awareness strategies and activities to promote prevention across the county.
Durante el mes de Abril y todo el año comunidades son alentadas a compartir estrategias y actividades para prevenir el abuso y negligencia infantil a través del condado.
Blue Pinwheels are the national symbol for child abuse and neglect prevention. Shining in the sun, the pinwheel is reflective of the bright future ALL children deserve! Keep an eye out for Blue Pinwheel Displays in Mono County.
The Mono County Child Abuse Prevention Council (CAPC) and other agencies have planned activities for the month of April to spread awareness about Child Abuse and Neglect in Mono County.
El consejo de la prevención del abuso infantil de el condado de Mono y otras agencias tienen planiadas actividades para el mes de Abril. Estas actividades son para ayudar ha difundir el conocimiento sobre el abuso infantil y negligencia en el condado de Mono.
