An Flo’s American Dream 2021 Diner--retro 1950s-style, highway diner

Eastern Sierra, CA—Driving on US Highway 6, in the remote edge of the Great Basin, not far from the California / Nevada border, you’ll find Flo’s Diner. Owned and operated by the Trainors, “Flo,” (short for Florene) and Tim, are making an American dream come true. “A retro 50’s diner serving great All-American food in the middle of Chalfant Valley,” the menu says. “Dine In. Patio dining, and Take Out.” On any given day of the week, you can see why Flo’s Diner is popular. Open since last September, the diner and the market, both owned by the Trainors, have been offering dining options within waling distance of the Chalfant community, about 12 miles north of Bishop, CA. And, having a local market with a variety of snacks, beer and wine, and the very useful “basics,” such as milk, bread and eggs, is very handy. Locally sourced products make this enterprise an “all together” venture, and speaks well of Flo’s Diner’s ambiance and nostalgia too!

They serve pizza (handmade dough), hamburgers, sandwiches (Flo’s favorite is the Roast Beef Melt), salads, appetizers, and classic ice cream and ol’ style pies, like peanut butter. These classic baskets / choices add to the authenticity of a diner’s menu. Diner menus feature specials, and more individualized dishes, than fast-food places.
