Hot August Nights Monster Truck Jam 2021

Big wheels kept on turning and the crowds kept on cheering

Bishop, CA—Did you hear the roar of the Monster Truck Jam engines? Did you see all of the super charged monster trucks? Did you get to take a ride in the massive Extinguisher fire truck? There was lots to see and hear at the Tri-County Fairgrounds over the weekend, and the crowded grand stands showed just how popular these monster truck shows are around the country.

Corbin Shockey, age 15, drove the High Risk mini-monster truck during the two shows, and the young driver claimed he did the “longest stoppie yet,” at the Friday night show. A stoppie is where the truck comes over a dirt berm, and stops on its front wheels... like a handstand for trucks. High Risk went over onto its hood during Saturday night’s performance.

Meet Tyler Holcomb (left) from Bishop, CA, nicknamed “Quad Jesus,” and Todd Bunker (right) from Santa Cruz, CA, nicknamed “Quad God.” They were a part of the Immortal ATV Riders, Quad Wars, during the Monster Truck Show.

Monster Trucks on Parade gave the crowds a chance to check out these massive trick vehicles.

The Extinguisher monster truck, driven by Jake Blackwell, gave rides around the arena, and the lines were long for this very popular attraction during the Monster Truck Jam. Tyler Holcomb, “Quad Jesus,” from Bishop, CA, rode his ATV quad to a first place finish during the Quad Wars between the California and Oregon teams, and the fans in the stands loved it.

Double Trouble, driven by Travis Groth, finishes a bunch of monster truck donuts, spinning to a final finish...and cheering crowds.

Tony Canedo, driving Play N For Keeps, ended the final performance on Saturday by telling the crowds of visitors, “Thank you for coming,” in English and Spanish. Photos by The Hired Pen

INYO COUNTY TEMPORARILY BANS CAMPFIRES AND OPEN FLAMES IN COUNTY-MANAGED CAMPGROUNDS INYO COUNTY, August 20, 2021 – Due to extreme fire danger, limited firefighting resources, and ongoing drought, today the Inyo County Board of Supervisors ordered fire restrictions in County-managed campgrounds until further notice. The County-managed campgrounds affected by this order include: Pleasant Valley; Baker Creek; Tinnemaha; Taboose; Portuguese Joe; Independence; and, Diaz Lake. The County fire restrictions do not apply to County campgrounds managed by a concessionaire or to privately-owned campgrounds. ACTS PROHIBITED UNDER THIS ORDER: · No campfires: Setting, building, maintaining, attending, or using a campfire, charcoal grill or open flame of any kind is prohibited. · No smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or camp trailer or while stopped/standing in a designated developed campground with a three-foot diameter area barren or cleared of all flammable materials and away from facility doors, windows and air ducts. Inyo County will identify areas within its campgrounds that are appropriate for smoking under this order. ·

No other open flames are allowed in the County campgrounds to which this order applies.

This order is consistent with the fire prohibition ordered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on August 13, and with the expected increased fire prohibition order from the Inyo National Forest.
