What’s New for 2022?

Eastern Sierra, CA—Happy New Year 2022! Here’s some of the new things to look forward to in the New Year, and some of the new laws make bringing home the bacon, as it were, a moot point. Eastern Sierra Regional Airport The first flights into the Eastern Sierra Regional Airport took place on December 19, and a large crowd greeted the visitors. Sky West, operating with United Express, offers seasonal flights from Denver, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, on CRJ 700 regional jets, and these flights are replacing those to the Mammoth Yosemite Airport.

Bringing Home the Bacon Proposition 12, which was approved by California voters in 2018, put some animal welfare rights into law, and this has to do with the space animals need to live, breed, and give birth to babies. Pigs and hens in particular were a focus of Prop 12, and this requires that animals have minimum spaces to turn around and live in. This proposition has generated push back from animal producers, and pushed up the price of bacon, in particular, in response to revising animal husbandry / living conditions / costs to convert. Bacon is more expensive as a result. Senate Bill (SB) 3 creates a $15 an hour minimum wage for employers with 26 or more employees, and $14 an hour minimum wage for employers with 25 or fewer employees.

New for 2022 is the Eastern Sierra Regional Airport, with incoming / departing flights from / to Denver, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Passengers to the Eastern Sierra Regional Airport can visit all that the High Sierra offers, if they can get through the weather and traffic delays. Be patient everyone!

Happy New Year 2022! Storms have left the Eastern Sierra with massive amounts of snow, and winter wonderlands waiting to be explored when the many storms stop. Come prepared for cold temperatures, and bring lots of patience.

Senate Bill (SB) 389 will continue the Cocktails-to-Go business model Assembly Bill (AB) 974 requires that anyone under 18 years of age, riding a horse, mule or donkey on pavement, must wear a helmet. Riders, of any age, enjoying an until December 31, 2021, and then evening ride will be required to wear or their equines will wear, reflective gear when near roadways. Cocktails-to-Go will require a dinner / meal, and this law extents to Assembly Bill (AB) 47 gets into penalties for second-time, cell phone / texting / distracting driving, and the second ticket within 36 months, will be a point on your December 31, 2026. driving record, and thus your insurance rates could increase.
