by the Rev. Walt Sharer Minister / Practioner-Bishop Church of Religious Science
Sharing Your World It is heartwarming, particularly at this time, to see and read about the many individuals that are helping out, especially to those that can’t or are unable to help themselves. It is not just the rich aiding the poor, or the well giving care to the unwell; it is neighbor helping neighbor, love expressing in wonderful ways. It is not often talked about, but that is our charge. We are made in the image and after the likeness of God and told to take dominion of the earth. We were not the only ones so made. There are billions of us. Each an expression of God’s love. We don’t want our earth to be filled with the hungry, the poor and the sick. We desire for all to prosper and attain happiness. There is an abundance of all good in the Universe And it is there to be shared by all. Consider the grains of sands on the beach, or the leaves on the trees, and the crystals in the rocks, they can be uncountable and beyond comprehension. There are wonderful and diverse ways to bring cheer to our fellow man. (I am not excluding women or children.) Most of us rely on various charitable institutions to take care of the masses in need, or the government, however, each of us have so much love to give that we must find a way to distribute it. It is well and good that the big organizations are able to work with governments around the world, but we must deal locally, where the need is prevalent for us to see. In Religious Science we are trained to see fulness when there is an appearance of emptiness, but seeing food come to the hungry does not fill the belly of the hungry. We have a saying that goes like this, “When you treat, move your feet. That means that we must do all that we can do to fulfill a prayer and trust in God to do the rest. There are many ways to give cheer and well-wishing that do not draw attention to yourself. There is the pay ahead program and the secret Santa ideas, and a whole host of others, including, donations of clothes and other items to IMAH and other thrift stores. Cleaning out your pantry contributes excess cans to the food bank of the community. Giving and receiving are the two ends of the same stick. You cannot have one without the other. This was not a message I chose to hear when I was as child, but as Paul said, “When I was a child I thought like a child, but now I see clearly. One of the things I find to be fun is to go to one of the drive throughs in town; place my order, then tell the server I am also paying for next car. I don’t look to see how many people are in the car or how much they ordered or if they have more money than I do, or drive better a automobile. I don’t look back, but drive away in complete satisfaction. Years ago, when I frequently took my family to the local drive-in theaters, existing the drive-in after the show was over could be a problem. My wife asked me why I let people from other lanes into the flow of traffic, I told her that if I let others in, it will stimulate them to let others in, and some time in the future it could be me that they let in. That philosophy has served me well and it will serve us all. Jesus said, “Give and it shall be given unto you heaped up and running over shall be given unto you. Love is the best gift. God is Love and Loving You Right Now!

Red Owl said of the gas station and market. “It's a good example of what can happen when we work together, Denver stated, and he recognized tribal members who had worked on the continuing use of the Paiute native language for many of the tribe's projects. Hannah Frankson sang the Flag Song during the ceremony, and Jazmyn Dondero, Miss Bishop Paiute Tribe 2020-2021, assisted guests during the special event. Gloriana Bailey, Tribal Administrator, thanked the many staff members who helped see the project “come to fruition. Bailey spoke about the importance of the grants received by the tribe to fund the project. The U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) awarded a $2.1 million grant, which went toward the infrastructure of the retail center, and some monies went to the tribe's business incubator. Pulling together for the tribe in the BPDC's gas station and market grand opening were a number of guests, including LaVaree Chavez, Chief Operations Officer II, with the Bishop Paiute Tribe; Rhonda Willis, who is the interim gas station manager; Bill Vega, former tribal chairperson; Wilfred Marshall and Tobey Clarkin, from the EDA; Beau Romero, BPDC Interim Director; Joyce White, tribal council member; Earleen Williams, former tribal council member, and Brian Poncho. The tribe thanked the City of Bishop, Southern California Edison, and Cal Trans for their partnership and support on the project.
