The American Mule Museum Opens 2022 The Mule in America Exhibit at Laws Museum and Historic Site

“Our mission is to protect and preserve the legacy of the American Mule for generations to com by illuminating the critical role mules played in building the American West”--American Mule Museum Laws, CA—It’s taken the better part of two decades to create from idea / inception and inspiration to the cash to build / construction, and completion, but the American Mule Museum came to life on a lovely afternoon in the the Owens Valley (May 25 2022). It’s the newest exhibit at the Laws Railroad Museum and Historic site, outside of Bishop, CA, about six miles north on US Highway 6. Guests and dignitaries were treated to music, by Fiddlin’ Pete Watercott and refreshments, and many strolled the historic grounds while taking in the trains, depot, and other exhibits. However, the mules were the talk of the old town of Laws, an original frontier town and train depot, turned into a living storytelling stage for many generations now.

American Mule Museum President, Bob Felkel, officially cut the Grand Opening ribbon to the long-awaited new exhibit at the Laws Railroad Museum and Historic site.

Bob Felkel, President of the new American Mule Museum and museum builder, took pride in welcoming visitors to the Mule in America exhibit.

Mules are known for their monumental pulling abilities, and this panel featured “The Mule in America” and all of the ways the mule has pulled America through its history.

An official ribbon cutting, by American Mule Museum President, Bob Felkel, and opening of the lively exhibit was followed by a tour through the history of The Mule in America, which was curated and produced by Gold Creek Films, and designed by Dimensional Images. The new museum (www.mulemuseum. org) was completed with the assistance of the Borax Twenty Mule Team® (from mule nose to tail end, this train of mules and wagons extends to nearly 165 feet!) and Mule Days’ founders / High Sierra mule teamsters and pack station owners Bobby Tanner and Bob Tanner’s visions of where to house the world famous working (replicas) Borax wagons; the Death Valley Conservancy, which preserves early mining history in the area, and the Laws Railroad Museum and Historic site, which allows people to experience a frontier town recreation with trains and exhibits. Visitors were eye-to-eye with the American mule, and images of mules at work reminded us that without the labors of the mule... Americans wouldn’t have gotten as far in our ways of life.

Eastern Sierra Pride Festival, June 4 - 5, 2022 in Bishop, CA First-of-its-kind Pride Festival to Celebrate Local and Visiting LGBTQIA2SP+ Community May 24, 2022 - Eastern Sierra Pride is spearheading its inaugural Pride Festival on June 4th and 5th at the Tri-County Fairgrounds, and other venues, in Bishop. This is a first-of-its-kind festival for the Eastern Sierra area. The festival will include a drag show, dancing, a Tupperware party, bingo, musical performances, stand-up comedy, and more. The June 4th events are for people aged 18 and older; June 5th events are for all ages. The Tupperware party on June 5th will be held at C5 Studios. In addition to the scheduled Pride Festival events, there will be many local businesses and organizations hosting vendor and informational booths on the 5th. “We are ecstatic to launch our first Pride Festival for the Eastern Sierra!
