Ladies Only CCW Class Gains in Popularity tains a concealed weapon permit must meet minimum training requirements and attend renewal training every two years.” (STTARR website) Most of the ladies expressed an interest in taking the class to gain confidence and to get the “ability to safely handle a hand gun,” said Pecsi, and “to provide self-defense for themselves and loved ones.” And, Pecsi added, they were taking the class “in preparation for the CCW.” These classes offered throughout the year also meet the CCW requirements for Arizona, Pecsi explained. STTARR training also provides classes for other “law enforcement entities in Inyo and Mono Counties,” Pecsi said. The classes prepare people (18 years of age and older) to carry fire arms, and weaponless defense training, Pecsi said. During the gun range portion of the class, there were two instructors on the line, working with the women on proper fire arm techniques, and one instructor off to the side was the range safety officer, Pecsi noted. “The instructors have over a 100 years of combined firearms training experience for both law enforcement and public safety,” the website noted. There are also one-on-one and group training. “California law requires anyone who ob-

It was a well organized group, and they were all attentive to the instructors. The women came from Inyo and Mono Counties. The Use of Mind
by the Rev. Walt Sharer Minister / PractionerBishop Church of Religious Science
The Creative Medium In this article, in a series of four, we will delve into the soul, or the second part of the metaphysical trinity. Last week we looked at Spirit, the initiator or force behind manifestation. We determined that Spirit was the energy propelling the direction or answer to our desires. Soul is the creative medium which receives direct impulses of our thoughts and acts upon them. Soul has been called Universal Subjectivity. Men of wisdom have said that the soul is a blind source without knowing, only doing. Ernest Holmes puts it this way, “The Soul is subjective to Spirit, and receives impressions from Spirit. The Subjective Mind which we call Soul is not a knower in the sense that Spirit is, i.e., It is not Self-Conscious. It knows only to do without knowing why It does. It is a doer or executor of the will of the Spirit and has no choice of its own. It is the business of Soul to reflect the images that Spirit casts into It.” The definition of soul by Webster’s New World Dictionary is, “An entity which is regarded as the immortal or spiritual part of the person and though having no physical or material reality, is credited with the functions of thinking ands willing, and hence determining all behavior.” Lest there be any confusion or question about these definitions, let’s put this in the proper perspective. Spirit is first cause or what instigates soul into activity. Another way of saying it is your thoughts are setting soul to work, creating what you are thinking about. The soul doesn’t question if what you are thinking about is good for you, it just produces. The soul is the medium is always listening for direction. Recently, I was at a local gas station purchasing fuel. When I went into the store to pay, there was a line of people purchasing lottery tickets. While I was waiting, the fellow in front of me turned and asked how many tickets I was going to get. I told him I was just buying gas. He told me that he was buying ten tickets. He didn’t think that he would win, but somebody had to win and why not him. Now knowing a bit about soul or the creative part of the trinity, what direction was he giving his subconscious mind? It certainly did not give a clear picture, did it? He was leaving it all up to chance, and that is not a positive place to be. If I ever brought a lottery ticket, I would treat it like a ticket to ride at an amusement park. I purchase the ticket, enjoy the ride, and go home happy and content. When I was learning how the subjective mind works, my wife would often respond to my words with, “You can have what you say.” She let me know the consequences involved with the words I was using and the thoughts I was thinking. I have to admit, I was not always happy to hear her comments, but it drove the point home more often than not. Your subconscious mind is listening to you every thought and word. It would be good if we flooded it with goodness, truth and beauty. We can all use more love in our life. God is Love and Loving You Right Now!

Walter Herbert Weed 1957-2021 Walter Herbert Weed was born to Herb and Goldie Weed of Big Pine, CA on June 28, 1957. He enjoyed all the outdoor activities the area offered until he graduated from Big Pine High School where he excelled as a linebacker on the Warrior's football team. In 1977 he met and married the love of his life, Debbie Watkins of Bishop, CA. They had one daughter Lori Ann who died tragically in 1992 at the age of 14. Walt worked as a Cal Trans mechanic in the Bishop shop until the couple pulled up stakes from Big Pine to move to Gardnerville, NV when he transferred to the Tahoe shop at Meyers, CA. Walt retired in 2019 after 33 years with Cal Trans. Walt fought a valiant battle against throat and lung cancer for 8 years until he entered eternal glory with Jesus on February 9, 2021. Walt is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debbie and his sister Susan (Dennis) Bell of Grants Pass, OR.
