Mother’s Day Stay and Play Features Local Favorites 2021 By Christina Reed The Hired Pen Eastern Sierra, CA—Getting out-and-about with folks in our big back yard is really a matter of what variety of
tasks you want to accomplish in a day. Top off your afternoon at one of many local lakes, creeks, ponds, reservoirs, city parks, golf courses, climbing areas, or outdoor motor sports tracks. Mother's Day 2021 celebrated the 85 million moms in
the U.S., and at least a third of women ages 18-64 have young children at home. Back in the day, 1960, 52 percent of women ages 18-64 had young children at home. (Source: America's Families and Living Arrangements 2020)

Sitting pretty in the June Lake Loop is Silver Lake, with the awesome views of the north face of Carson Peak.
Gull Lake, one of four lakes in the June Lake Loop, offers a trail around the lake, as well as trout fishing with spectacular views of Carson Peak.
June Lake's park is a splendid place to bring the family for fishing, hiking, barbecuing, or picnicking.
Ernie's Tackle and Ski is a long-time June Lake business, opening in 1932, they are a spot to stop and pick up fishing licenses, bait and tackle, rods and reels, snow boots, hoodies, and an assortment of mountain memorabilia.

Sterling Heights Assisted Living Community LIC #147203373 is preparing to close its doors after serving this area for 20+ years. The Management Team from Sierra Country Club Inc. is announcing that the Sterling Heights Assisted Living Community will be closing their doors within the next few months. Mary Roberts, Alicia Smith and Annette Barnes leads the team that has begun the painful process of informing the residents, family members, and staff members. The past few years have been a struggle, and now adding to that has been the challenge of the Covid-19 world-wide pandemic. The management team and key stakeholders have tried to do everything in their power to find solutions to keep the doors open and provide quality care to their residents. Like many businesses, they have been hit hard with both staffing losses and increasing costs
of running the building. Despite their best efforts they acknowledge that there are no other viable options available at this time, but to close this Senior Care Community and help the residents relocate. The Sterling Heights’ team understands that this will impact both their residents, family members, and the Bishop community at large. They have thoughtfully and carefully prepared a plan to move forward in the best ways possible. They greatly appreciate the support that the city has provided to their Seniors and Staff over these many years. They look forward to the continued support from the community and the City of Bishop.
