Bishop Plaza 2021

Bringing Life to Bishop Business By Christina Reed The Hired Pen Bishop, CA—Last October, Dan Khatchaturian purchased the Bishop Plaza, with the idea of creating business opportunities for others. He says, “I saw the opportunity to bring some life to Bishop.” Khatchaturian took on the project with seven vacant businesses existing at that time. Today, he's pleased to have filled five of the leases, with two more prospects on the horizon. He notes, “I brought in businesses that will serve Bishop well.” The

recent business openings are adding more shopping choices to the region, as the largest multi-tenant shopping center fills. Khatchaturian adds, the new businesses reflect people who have “taken courageous steps,” during the pandemic, to bring these new enterprises to fruition. The Bishop Plaza, a large retail space (mainly built in the 1990s) is home to a number of well-known businesses and services in the Bishop area, including, Rite Aid, Subway, the Sears Hometown Store, Big 5, Auto Zone, Smoke 4 Less, Pals Collective, Salsa's, The Fed-Up

Store, Domino's Pizza, Las Coras Mexican Food Market, Romina's Party Supplies, Emilio and Dorothy Collado, Bible Studies, Miscellaneous Items Store, and Tailwaggers Pet Store. The River Church space is for lease, as is another smaller lease / business space. Khatchaturian envisions other businesses filling these two leases, and he says perhaps an ice cream or sweet shop will join the space, and he also sees the larger space (The River Church space) could become a school, with the ample 5,000 square-foot-space (which offers separate classrooms and a kitchen).

Klondike Lake Opens for 2021 Season From May 28 to September 6 (Labor Day), Klondike Lake will be open for limited public boating use on weekend days only: Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 9 a.m. to sunset. At this time spots are limited and on a ﬁrst come, ﬁrst served basis. Precautions are being taken to guard against invasive mussels at this site, so all motorized watercraft will be inspected before being launched into Klondike Lake. Due to COVID-19, face coverings and social distancing are required. We will take additional measures during boat inspections to protect boat owners and LADWP employees as needed. Boat access to Klondike is free this summer period and subject to change for future seasons. Access for motorized watercraft being transported by car, truck and/or trailer will be allowed for a one-hour period between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at the gate entrance in order to accommodate inspections. After watercraft have been inspected and granted access, visitors can enjoy the lake for as long as they want that day, while practicing safe social distancing. Please note, recreational users with smaller, non-motorized watercraft that are not transported with a trailer can access the lake at any time. We ask that everyone obey signage and continue to practice State and local guidance on COVID-19.
