Media banquet returns for kick-off of fishing season

Eastern Sierra, CA—It’s official. Fishing season is open in the High Sierra. Trout fishing is a year-round activity in many parts of California, including places in the eastern Sierra (such as Pleasant Valley Reservoir and parts of the Owens River). However, the last Saturday in April (“Fishmas”) is the official start of the traditional, catch-and-keep trout season for most creeks, streams, and lakes on the Eastside of California. The fishing season ends on most waters on November 15. The fishing season opener kicked off with the annual media banquet on “Fishmas Eve” at the Bishop Country Club, and local and visiting outdoor / fishing enthusiasts had a wonderful evening of talking about the fishing opener, and the places they were going to cast a line in the water. Berkley pro anglers and gear developers were a part of the media event, and the Department of Fish and Wildlife had an informational / display of trout, with talks by DFW officers. This year’s opener was a chilly start, but the day warmed up and the fishing was productive for many anglers. Taking the prize for the Monster Trout Contest in the June Lake Loop (sponsored by Ernie’s Tackle and Ski), was Jason Nichols, of La Verne, CA, and he reeled in a whopper, an 8.59 pound trout out of Gull Lake.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Bishop Unified School District of Inyo County, California, acting by and through its Governing board, hereinafter referred to as “District”, will receive up to, but not later than, the above-stated time, sealed proposals for the award bid for purchase and installation of playground equipment at Bishop Elementary School. In accordance with the provisions of California Business and professions Code Section 7028.15 and Public contract code Section 3300, the District requires that the contractor possess an Active and Valid contractor’s license . All contractors and sub-contractors must be registered and in good standing with the Department of Industrial Relations. The District reserves the right to reject any or all proposals or to waive any irregularities or informalities in any proposal. The District also reserves the right to alter the scope of the project in order to complete work within the District budget. A payment Bond, Performance Bond, Workers’ Compensation Certificate and Certificate of Insurance will be required prior to execution of the contract. The aforementioned bonds and certificates shall be in the form called for in the contract documents. All workers will be required to pass a DOJ Live Scan background check prior to being on campus. The District has determined the general prevailing rate of per diem wages in the locality in which this work is to be performed for each craft or type of worker need to execute this contract: These rates are on file at the District Office. Copies may be obtained on request. The schedule of per diem wages is based upon a working day of eight (8) hours. The rate for holiday and overtime work shall be at least time and one-half. It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom the contract is awarded (Contractor), and upon any subcontractor under him, to pay not less than the said specific rates to all workers employed by them in the execution of the contract. It is Contractor’s responsibility to determine any rate change which may have or will occur during the intervening period between each issuance of written rates by the Director of Industrial Relations.
