top family friendly spots Kelly Robinson is the Director of Sales for the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Chehalis. Raised in Lewis County, Kelly appreciates the charm of the Northwest and all it has to offer. Kelly and her husband Derek and their two children (Aurora, 3, and Rowan, 7) live in Winlock, WA on five acres in the country.
EAT
Quesadilla Factory - My husband and I love to take the kids here. The kids have a blast playing the arcade games while we wait for our dillas. The quesadillas are made to order with a ton of different options (my husband’s favorite is pepperjack and steak). They even have amazing elephant ears and gourmet desserts. There’s really something for everyone here!
DRINK
Via Mercato Espresso - Great location in downtown Chehalis. Via Mercato is next door to the Historic Lewis County Courthouse. When I’m downtown I love to stop here. The owner is always working and greets me with a smile. The coffee is always yummy and priced well.
GET OUTSIDE
My family really loves to get outside to the new Gail & Carolyn Shaw Aquatics Center. This community pool is anything but ordinary featuring slides, water toys, spray pad and a beach-entry style pool. This attraction is a must.
DON’T MISS
McMenamins Olympic Club Hotel and Theater - While this is a pub, the Olympic Club has some great familyfriendly activities. McMenamins has expanded on the Olympic Club’s traditional definition of a working man’s resort by welcoming the whole family to enjoy lodging, meals, movies, art, history, sports and special events. The movie theater is a must see with couch seating and dinner service during the movie. This is really a one-of-a-kind gem in the heart of Lewis County!

HiSTORY BUFF’S HAVEN Do you like historic military memorabilia? How about working model trains? Visit our diverse historical museums that offer a look into the early days of our communities.
The tales of pioneers come to life inside the walls of the Lewis County Historical Museum in Chehalis, a former Northern Pacific train depot constructed in 1912. The Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis hosts reenactments of famous Civil War battles, complete with encampments of Union and Confederate soldiers and their families. The museum features military displays and artifacts from the Revolutionary War to present day conflicts. Set out on a self-guided historic walking tour of Chehalis to explore a colorful history and learn about the citizens that gave our community its start. Seventeen historic murals in downtown Centralia portray our area’s history and include a mural depicting the November 11, 1919, Armistice Day Riot and Massacre. Downtown Centralia Walking Tour participants can learn about Centralia’s past as a spirited railroad town that once housed bootleggers, bank robbers and other lively characters. Jeremy’s hosts a very unique rustic atmosphere with all organically grown food that comes directly from local farmers. CENTRALiA One of Centralia’s popular hot spots is Dick’s Brewing Company, just a short drive from I-5. This microbrewery creates a variety of delicious beers and offers tastings and tours every Friday and Saturday from 3:00-7:30 p.m. Centralia is also known for its quaint antique filled downtown community with unique downtown events like the Hub City Car Show, which showcases over 500 different classic cars and hot rods. Child-friendly events include the 4th of July Parade and Borst Park activities during Summerfest and the Lighted Tractor Parade in December. Check out Centralia’s past, showcased in the historical Borst Home and Blockhouse. These 1800’s buildings are located in Borst Park, which is right off I-5.
