WEIGHT LOSS FACT OR FICTION
If you have been trying to lose weight for a while, then you will know how frustrating the weight loss can be.
But if you add to that some of the myths that are also associated with dieting, then it can be even more difficult.
ALL CALORIES ARE THE SAME
FACT – Calories are simply the energy content of the food. But that doesn’t mean you should treat all calories the same. A single Twix finger has 250 calories. A jacket potato with beans has 330 calories. I think we would all agree however that the jacket potato is a better nutritional option.
WEIGHT LOSS IS JUST A MATTER OF WILL POWER
FICTION – Of course having a strong mindset will help, but it’s just one of the four pillars that we recommend. You also need to have a healthy diet, you need to add in healthy eating, movement and for an extra boost weight loss medication to help you manage your appetite.
FRESH VEGETABLES ARE BEST.
FICTION – Consider tinned or frozen alternatives. They are often lower in cost, come prepared so no waste or effort required preparing and retain their nutrients, vitamins and minerals.

FICTION – Snacking is not necessarily a issue, but you need to check what you snack on and also make sure oyu don't continually graze so you miss hunger cues .
FOODS LABELLED 'LOW FAT' OR 'REDUCED FAT' ARE ALWAYS A HEALTHY CHOICE
FICTION – Be cautious. Foods labelled "low fat" have to contain no more than a specific amount of fat to legally use that label. If a food is labelled as "low-fat" or "reduced fat", it should contain less fat than the full-fat version, but that doesn't automatically make it a healthy choice: Check the label to see how much fat it contains. Some low-fat foods may also contain high levels of sugar. I
WILL LOSE WEIGHT IF I DRINK MORE WATER
FICTION – Water doesn’t make you lose weight. But drinking plenty of water is essential for a healthy body. It can also help you avoid mistaking thirst for hunger
HEALTHY EATING IS EXPENSIVE
FICTION – You can make healthy choices on a budget. Choose seasonal produce which is generally cheaper, or consider frozen or canned vegetables. Also think about bulking out meals with wholegrains. They are not only cheaper and will increase satiety.
WEIGHT LOSS ALWAYS SHOWS ON THE SCALES
FACT – Of course the scales will show how much you weigh, but we also recommend that you track your body measurements. Often as well as losing weight we also want shift our ‘bingo wing’ arms, or tummy or hips. Indeed as you lose weight your body shape will also change.
