Hello and welcome…! Inside this booklet is all you need to know about your Initial Video Consultation. Every weight loss programme with The Slimming Clinic starts with an Initial Video Consultation with a GMC-registered weight loss doctor. We believe that one of the most fundamental parts of weight loss is to start your journey feeling confident and ready to begin. We believe that this comes from having had a comprehensive video conversation about your health and wellbeing with an expert weight loss doctor and finding what works for you, based on your lifestyle and needs. As well as this, we want to make sure you have been equipped with the knowledge and tools to be successful from the day you start an online weight loss programme with us at The Slimming Clinic. If you want to start your weight loss programme as soon as you are ready, you can, with our online Initial Video Consultations with our weight loss doctors! Your Video Consultation Our Initial Video Consultations are the most convenient and comprehensive way to start an online weight loss programme you can find. We know that getting to a location to start your weight loss can be timeconsuming and inconvenient and we wanted to make it as easy as possible for you to lose weight.
So, you can have your Initial Video Consultation wherever you are, at a time and on a day to suit you! For just £50, as part of your Initial Video Consultation, you get all of the following:
• Comprehensive online video consultation with your weight loss doctor – to help you find the best weight loss route for you.* • Immediate access to our 14day Facebook group or Patient Pathway via our app, which has every piece of advice we think you need to have the best start to your weight loss. • Blood pressure monitor, where applicable. • £50 Refund when you join a weight loss programme!*

If you are a bra nd-new patient to The Slimming Clinic, or you’v e not had an appointme nt with us in over 12 mon ths, your weight loss jo urney with The Slimming Clinic will start with an In itial Video Consultation.
During your initial consultation with the doctor, they will talk to you about your goals for weight loss, what you would like to achieve, and how we can help you achieve them! Whilst on the call, the doctor will assess your suitability for our weight loss programmes and ensure that joining with The Slimming Clinic is the appropriate weight loss route for you and your lifestyle requirements.
Your Facebook Group In order to have your Initial Video Consultation, you will need to: • Be under 60 years of age. • Be stationary for the duration of the video consultation (approximately 50 minutes) • Have access to your email – as this will have all the details of your Initial Video Consultation, app download instructions and pre-consultation questionnaire. • Have your blood pressure machine and a set of weighing scales available as the doctor will need to see your weight and blood pressure reading. • Have access to a computer/tablet/smart phone with a camera and video capabilities. • Download our Slimming Clinic app to enable you to have your video consultation • Fill in your pre-consultation questionnaire at least 48-hours before your consultation
Dietitian Consultations Our Dietitian appointments come in blocks of 3. The first appoint will be 45 minutes. This gives the dietician time to get to know the you, understand yourlifestyle and requirements and to give good quality advice. You will then get 2 twenty minute follow up appointments, booked at the your convenience but typically these will be 2 weeks and 6 weeks after your initial appointment. In total the you will be receiving 1 ½ hours with our dietitian. If after this you would like more help, then you can book single sessions for £35 for 30 minutes. These single appointment can only be booked after the initial block of three.

Our Medication: At a Glance The first part of your weight loss programme to decide on will be your prescription weight loss medications, Group Support Diet Mind Doctor where necessary.

We offer a range of prescription appetite medications and will spend time with you to find the best medication for your needs.
Prescription Weight Loss Medication We offer two types of tablet appetite suppressant medication at The Slimming Clinic: Phentermine and Diethylpropion.
Weight Loss Tablets We offer two types of tablet appetite suppressant medication at The Slimming Clinic: Phentermine and Diethylpropion. These are tablet medications that alter the release of chemical messengers within the hypothalamus, which is the appetite control centre of the brain. This causes appetite suppression and reduced huger perception, giving you more control over your hunger and cravings
Weight Loss Injections We also offer the weight loss injections, Saxenda, Ozempic & Wegovy.
Saxenda Saxenda® contains the active drug Liraglutide, which is similar to a naturally occurring hormone (GLP-1) that is released by the digestive system after consuming food. This weight loss medication works in a very similar way to our tablets. It safely controls your hunger through acting on receptors in the appetite control centre of the brain. As well as this, Saxenda® also postpones the emptying of your stomach, causing you to feel fuller quicker and for a longer period of time. During your Initial Video Consultation, your doctor will talk to you through all the weight loss medication options and together, you can decide on the best treatment for your needs.
Our appetite suppressant medications are not prescribed to completely take away your appetite. Instead, they suppress/reduce your appetite, so you have more control of your hunger and begin to adjust to new, healthier eating habits.
Ozempic Ozempic (Semaglutide), is a once-a-week injectable weight loss medication that works on the appetite receptors in the brain to reduce feelings of hunger and cravings.
The injection imitates GLP1 – a naturally occurring hormone in your body – which is released after you eat and indicates to your brain that you are full. These medications also work to slow the emptying of your stomach, which leads to feelings of fullness for longer after you have eaten. Ozempic is currently licensed for use in the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes, but it has shown to have a positive effect on reducing people’s weight when accompanied by a healthy diet and exercise programme.

Chromium Chromium is a mineral that is considered essential, meaning we cannot make it in our bodies so it must be obtained from our diet. Several studies have indicated that taking chromium supplements can help: •
Obesity by reducing food intake, hunger and cravings and reduce the frequency of binge-eating episodes.

Glucose intolerance by improving blood glucose control in those with type 2 diabetes or help control the glucose and insulin responses in those a risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Vitamin B12 Vitamin B12 is an essential vitamin required by the body for a variety of important functions. It is known to help within the nervous system, in brain function and mood, it helps to prevent anaemia by supporting blood-cell formation and it helps with digestion and reducing tiredness. It’s used to make new cells and DNA (the genetic material in all your cells), and to keep your nerves and red blood cells healthy. It is an important vitamin to have within your diet as it is not something that our bodies naturally produce. It is a watersoluble vitamin, meaning we need to replenish it every single day, since it is not stored in our bodies like fat-soluble vitamins.
Vitamin D3 Vitamin D is a vital vitamin mostly produced in the skin by exposure to sunlight. It controls how the body absorbs calcium and phosphate which is important for strong bones, a healthy immune system and regulating mood. Despite its name, vitamin D is not a vitamin, but a multifunctional hormone, contributing to lots of functions within the body and having the right amount of vitamin D can make us healthier, not just today, but in the future too. Vitamin D helps our digestive system absorb calcium and maintains our blood levels of calcium important for keeping our bones and teeth healthy.
Remote Appointments
As part of your weight loss programmes, you will also be offered remote appointments with your doctor, to ensure you are supported whenever you need it.
Every weight loss programme we offer at The Slimming Clinic is remote. Our remote online weight loss programmes make losing weight with us easier and more convenient than ever and mean that you can speak to a medical professional 6 days a week, from Monday to Saturday, anywhere you are – home, work or even on holiday!

How can I get the £50 off my weight loss programme? When you join an online weight loss programme with The Slimming Clinic, you will receive £50 off your programme cost! Depending on if you choose to pay for your programme up front, or if you pay monthly, will determine how you receive your £50 discount. If you are deemed medically unsuitable for all treatments with The Slimming Clinic, then you will be refunded your £50 consultation fee.
