Even though roofs are separate entities from ground level landscape, they provide important vital connections in cities and provide important sanctuaries for people’s health and nature. The need for green space in cities was particularly highlighted during the pandemic.

Green roofs are increasingly important in London and will soon be subject to Biodiversity Net Gain legislation across all cities in England. Nevertheless there is a tendency for off-the-shelf solutions to be delivered.
