Mauritius resumes tourism

Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority revealed precautionary measures to resume tourism

After the COVID19 Scenario, things are going back to normalcy in the beautiful island of Mauritius, as the health authorities and the government succeeded to overcome the pandemic and beating the virus. And to further keep Mauritius’ guests safe as well as the public, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) revealed precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of the visitors and workers in the tourism sector.

The sanitary measures were taken to ensure the safe resumption of activities in the tourism sector, this includes measures taken for all enterprises and activities involved in the tourism sector, with strict guidelines for hotels, restaurants, shops and shopping malls, eco-tourism, golf courses and for tourist guides, as well as measures for nautical activities and commercial pleasure crafts.

The measures taken for the tourism enterprises and activities are shortened in the basic principles of maintaining cleanliness at all times, increased levels of hygiene for the workers and visitors, maintain social distancing and wearing face masks where applicable.

Whilst using transportation, vehicles are sanitized after each of the passenger’s use, the driver is wearing a protective mask and the number of passengers is limited to maintain the social distancing.

During the hotel stay, there is a strict protocol followed by the staff and the employees to maintain a high standard level of cleanliness and hygiene, including the concentration of Water disinfectant in the pools and spas within the limits recommended according to international norms and standards. Dishwashing and laundry equipment, Air conditioners are regularly cleaned and disinfected using high standard tools and materials. Hand sanitizers, social distancing is applicable in the hotel shared areas as well as thermal guns to check the temperature of workers and visitors prior to entering the hotel premises.

As for swimming pools, the number of users is limited at the same time, while maintaining social distancing between each set of sunbeds, and all workers are regularly using face masks and sanitizers.

For restaurants’ dining area, tables are set to ensure the social distancing between the guests, buffet service is serviced by hotel/restaurant employees wearing protective equipment. Digital menus will be used more often, while the level of hygiene is increased to a high level of standards. The same protocol of cleanliness and hygiene is applicable in the kitchen and among the staff.

Tourist Guides are required to brief to clients on sanitary protocols to be observed during the visit, wearing of masks by the guide and participants during the visit, Physical distancing to be maintained between the tourist guide and each participant.

All open areas and other activities, including nautical activities, are following the same above guidelines to ensure o ensure that tourists enjoy everything around and leave the worries behind, as Mauritius is coming back, in a healthier, safer, and better way.
