Redmond Library A New Library For A Growing City

Like much of Central Oregon, Redmond has grown by leaps and bounds in the past 20 years. The all-new Redmond Library will continue to serve as a dynamic community hub—and it will double the size of the previous library. The new 40,000-square-foot library will replace the existing library and remain between Cascade and Deschutes Avenues. Once complete, the new library will include:

• Large and divisible meeting spaces for community use

• Collaborative and co-working areas

• DIY spaces for creative, hands-on activities and programs

• An engaging children’s discovery space for learning and play

• A dedicated space for teens

• A covered civic patio for gathering, as well as programs and events

Construction is scheduled for completion in late in fall 2024. In the meantime, a temporary Redmond Library is open and operating at . This space offers select books and DVDs from the library’s collection, as well as a space for customers to pick up holds. Public computers as well as a meeting rooms are also available.

LA PINE AND SISTERS LIBRARIES REMODELS ARE UNDERWAY!

The La Pine and Sisters Libraries share a floorplan—mirror images of each other—so they are the first to undergo remodeling and updating. The renovation of these libraries will create bright and open spaces that welcome the community with more flexible meeting and tutoring rooms, an enhanced children’s discovery space, a cozy fireplace and reading area, and a large community gathering space.

The Sisters Library is now operating out of a . This enables customers to pick-up holds, browse a limited selection of popular titles for all ages, and use public computers.

While we work to complete a temporary space for the La Pine Library (scheduled to open in late February), the next closest library in Sunriver is just 15 miles north (56855 Venture Lane, Sunriver), and digital access to library resources is available 24/7 through the website (deschuteslibrary.org). Visit for updates on a temporary location.

Both the La Pine and Sisters Libraries are slated to re-open to the public in Fall 2023.
