The Doula Project, which spreads across the United States, is one of the main organizations challenging this stipulation. This organization provides support to people who have experienced, or will soon experience, birth, fetal anomaly, stillbirth,

The volunteerrun organization began in 2007 as focusing solely on abortions but has since broadened its scope. Since its conception, the organization has helped over ten thousand people coping with abortion or fetal loss. Vicki Bloom is a member of The Doula Project and a practicing doula who enjoys helping with abortion just as much as birth. For early pregnancy procedures, she is with the patients for about half an hour. The clinics allow her to be present during the procedure and she also helps with immediate aftercare. “[Abortion doulas] instantly need to

Bloom, who is open about her work, does not receive criticism or confrontation for her work but can tell that it makes some people uncomfortable to discuss, in which case she does not bring up the topic. Abortion doulas recognize the misconception in society that women who have abortions and women who have children are independent of each other which is simply untrue. In fact, Bloom often has patients who want to talk about their children to help them through the procedure. The night got under way with The Walkervilles from Windsor. They played a great set, and were followed by Sam Cash & the Romantic Dogs, a great rock piece that had a very Sam Robertsesque sound. Around 9:30 p.m., the Arkells took the stage and proceeded to play until almost 11 p.m. They played a mix of older hits and songs from their new CD High Noon. Among these were the single Come to Light and the amazing tune Cynical Bastards. here once, was in 2007. It was at the Ford Plant, which I don’t think even exists anymore. It was right downtown, one of the corner buildings. And I just UHPHPEHU WKHUH ZDV GHÀQLWHO\ D PXVLF scene, and a lot of Brantford bands would come to Hamilton. But at the time I just remember how empty the downtown was. Fenway Park: America's most beloved ballpark Sports Editor Kyle Morrison returns to Boston’s Fenway Park to rediscover what makes baseball great
enway Park is unlike any baseball stadium or any sports venue, for that matter, that I’ve ever been to – and I’ve visited my fair share. First-year Reflections
Opinion Editor Brittany Bennett talks O-Week with Laurier Brantford’s newest students Photos by Cody Hoffman
Ariel Liu “I come from a larger city so it was nice having this tightknit community, O-Week made us a community, we all came together as a whole. This new Golden Hawk is residing in the Expositor residence. The cheer off was her favourite part, but she was not happy that it ran into class time.
Jason Johnson Amanda Hunter “One of the best weeks of my life. Johnson is an off- campus new Golden Hawk that only had good things to say about his O-Week experience. He thought the week was great even though it made him loose his voice. Johnson’s favourite part of the week had to be the cheer off.
“The events were more fun than I thought they would be - I didn’t know what to expect at all. This new Golden Hawk Lives off-campus here in Brantford. Hunter thought the food provided at the O-Week events were delicious, and her favourite part of the week was getting to talk with all the icebreakers.

Oteri is an off-campus new Golden Hawk living in student housing here in Brantford. Oteri had a lot of fun meeting new people, but wished there were beverages available with the food provided at the events. Oteri’s favourite part of the week was the hypnotist.
King is a new Golden Hawk living in the Expositor residence. She made a memory with her residence when she fell asleep with a grilled cheese sandwich still in her hand.
Amanda Hosie Will Thompson Elizabeth Lopresti Austin Fowler Simran Hayer “I totally have a different perspective then everyone else because I’m 24, but I thought it was great. I was really nervous about being older than everybody. This new off-campus Golden Hawk said her O-Week experience was amazing. The one thing Hosie did not enjoy about the week was that it ran into class time.

“I think it’s more of a residence thing, but it’s still good for offcampus students to do it just to meet people. Lopresti is an off-campus newly pronounced Golden Hawk commuting from Mississauga. Lopresti’s favourite part of the week was the speakers, especially Mike Domish.

“It’s been good, fun, and entertaining. This new Golden Hawk had nothing negative to say about his O-Week experience. Fowler is off-campus, living in Brantford but still managed to meet both off-campus and oncampus students through the O-Week events. His favourite part was the Arkells concert.
“I think the best part had to be the icebreakers, they’re just phenomenal people. I couldn’t believe the energy they have. Hayer is a new Golden Hawk residing in Lucy Marco Place. She admitted the week to be very tiring, but lots of fun. She thought there should have been surveys handed out to help plan for next year’s O-Week.
