DEKKOO SERVES HISTORY, LAUGHS AND LOTS OF DRAMA THIS PRIDE SEASON
BY CONNOR JENKINS
Dekkoo, the first and only subscription streaming service dedicated to gay men, is celebrating Pride month with two original new series.
Historical Homos is executive produced by out movie star Zachary Quinto and uncovers and unloads the most tantalizing dish on some of the great queers of yesteryear. Did you know Socrates, Virginia Woolf, Michelangelo, and Shakespeare were all members of the rainbow tribe? If you didn’t, it’s because for thousands of years, world historians have kept some of the greatest names in civilization in the closet. In Historical Homos, hosts Bash and Donal Brophy prove how queer people have been around for eons, challenging society, serving looks, and living out their deepest fantasies.
Historical Homos premieres on Dekkoo on June 9, with a new episode streaming every Friday through Pride month. The four episodes in the series present a nice spread of L, G, B, and T with the first exploring male homosexuality in Greek Mythology and the second delving into the true story of an 18th century transgender spy and soldier.
Episode three focuses on the little-known bisexual proclivities of William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe and the final show reviews the life and loves of Virginia Woolf, particularly her lesbian affair with Vita Sackville-West.
