2022 TOP CUT FEMALE SALE
SATURDAY • NOVEMBER 26TH, 2022 • 4:00 PM (CST)
WASHINGTON SALES PAVILION • WASHINGTON, KANSAS
What a year 2022 has been, with widestricken drought there has been major inconsistencies and especially highs in feed/hay costs, making it tough to be a rancher. When you invest in these females offered just know that we’ve been in the business a long time and have adapted our cow herd to perform during these times. A large majority of these females (especially the breds) have the toughness and build to handle it. These females hail from cows that walk the Smoky and Flint Hills every grazing season and corn stalks in the winter with little to no supplement feed in between. The calves are developed on their mothers with no creep as well, the first feed they see is the day they are weaned. Even the Donor Dams to many of these selling are brought up like this, it’s just bred into them to Perform.
This set of females is as High Quality and National Caliber as we’ve ever offered and there is literally one for everyone and all budgets. Every year it gets harder to sort down to a number that “makes the sale” and this year we are offering the most we’ve ever offered because of the depth we had coming off grass this fall. A large portion of this offering are sibs to past show winners and high sellers or are daughters out of past show heifers that are making their mark as cows now.
Lastly we have the best crew in the business and if you get a chance let them know how awesome they have this set looking. We ask a lot of them because not only do they handle the day to day operations with feeding, breeding, and making hay; but they are the ones also clipping and prepping this group of females for the sale. They are very Well Rounded!!! We are here to help with any questions you have with developing these heifers, all you have to do is ask.
Come enjoy good food and refreshments on sale day, and witness an “old school event” that we’ve held now for 27 years running. We hope to see you November 26th!
From all of us at “The Continent”, Thank You!!

A Powerhouse Female sells as Lot 1 this year. Not only in phenotype but she is bred to be a changer. When you put this much mass and body into one and still the presence of skeleton and bonework she carries makes her an outliar someday as a cow. Her Hot Rod Dam was 3rd overall Female at out State Fair and has raised several Champion Angus Steers and heifers for us the past couple years. Retaining 1/2 embryo Interest
COLBURN PRIMO JSAR MS KODIAK 035 960ZD
This heifer is as modern day as they come. Big haired, huge legged and footed, pronounced in her front end design, with the shape and structure to make it the long haul. Many full sibs have been high sellers for VZR Angus including an AI Sire. Retaining 1/2 Embryo Interest
This heifer’s dam is a 7/8 sister to Forbes. This cow was our top pick of Collison’s bred heifers a few years back. She calved a lil later this year and has since entered the Donor Pen. A maternal sister to this heifer was a past highlight and high seller in this exact sale.
One of the hottest Sires to enter the breed mated with the matriarch Donor who’s champions are too long to list. These Next 5 lots are different ages and all 5 have different pieces that set them apart. Study them and choose the one who fits your operation best, still knowing their pedigree is here to stay if you want to raise elite Charolais someday. CHAROLAIS
This is one of the most impressive Charolais Composites Wiedel has sent us and you can see why we think that. She will be hard to beat in her division all year long. COMPOSITE CHAROLAIS
This heifer reminds me so much of the heifer DWE, Hodges, and us won Denver with. She went on to be 3rd overall at our State Fair and now is in our Donor Battery. When Interstates are built like this they are hard to beat.
High Quality and Stout are the first things that come to mind when you look at this one. She also passed our strict policy on feet and legs to make this sale too. Make it Viral is a solid Black Gone Viral son out of the 900 donor that already had one AI sire under her belt, as well as numerous champions and high sellers out of our two fall sales.
We partnered on a Flush with Miller’s famous Smilin Queen Donor. As good as the Primo’s and Style’s were out of this cow I knew we had to find a way to get her done to Alpha. I don’t know if this was the best mating or not and I’ll explain why. The Maternal sibs have won to many shows to say that at this point and you’d be crazy to admit it, but it will be hard to beat these two in the future.
SC SMILIN QUEEN 15C CHI REG. 379869
(HIGH %)
An embryo Purchase by Furrow Cattle raised two outsanding heifers in this sale. Many may have forgot about Style’s full brother El Capitan but he was a specimen in Denver. Whoever thought of this mating was smart because this heifer is high quality and her mating options are endless for the future.
We were having trouble deciding what to flush this heifers donor too. Gregg made the call because he was breeding that night, he dug 17 years back and used MCF Tres, the grandsire of too many champions to count and the Famous Tres Donor we owned with Goertzen. She will raise them highly sought after show steers when the time comes. Good Cows and Good genetics are Timeless!!!
These next four lots are out of an up and coming donor here at MCF. She is a maternal sib to Frye’s Colorado State Fair Champion and already made her mark with the full brothers that sold in our steer sale last month. This will be as competitive of a Market Heifer that we’ve ever offered but at the same time she is a clone to her donor dam with more hair. CHI (LOW %)
RAY See Lot 21. This might be the second best Market type heifer we have ever offered out of the Sire that can get that done.
DONOR MCF SALTY DOG

These next 3 full sisters will baffle you and out of another sib to the Colorado State Fair Champ. Brig liked the solid black one the best on the cow, basically because of color. In all of our years of raising cattle never have we had a donor that raises steers that look like market animals and females that look absolutely maternal all being out of the same Sire. Their legs are Forever, their quality will never run out of style, and they will be competitive in the ring. Retaining 1/2 Embryo Interest
CHI (LOW %) ID / 522K BD / APRIL
See Lot 25. Look at her color pattern, she is a red carrier, she will easily throw Hereford marked steers someday. Retaining 1/2 Embryo Interest
A HIA that’s built more like today’s show heifers than her steer counterparts. Her Donor Dam is a brut and it makes since that she can raise one by him that looks like this. It took a lot for us to offer this female but we are truly offering the best this year.
The Gone Viral maternal sib to lot 30. Her donor dam was successfully campaigned by
and making an even better donor. This is her first flush group to sell and they are high quality, including a 1/2 Simmy natural calf selling as lot 70.
To be honest, no one should sell an Interstate built like this and out of a Donor cow that doesn’t miss in show steer production, including the Champion Shorthorn in Tulsa a couple years ago and countless other high sellers. The mass of bone and wedge shape she presents on such a good skeleton is hard to put together. This one will enter the donor pen quicker than you could imagine.
Retaining 1/2 Embryo Interest
This heifer is young and green still but has all the parts to get it done. It’s very hard to put that much belly and hip on such a skinny neck. She will raise Hereford appearing stock like the best of them
Good as it Gets was the best bull we saw in Denver that year and he has since proven himself in raising high quality stock. When you build one with this much presence and style but still maternal in her shape and ribcage you are bound to find the backdrop.
Furrow’s other Embryo Purchase and you read it right, a MINN Katie 9B. A dominating Maine-Angus mating and a dominating show heifer. She will be as good of a Maine-Angus that will sell all year. Retaining 1/2 embryo Interest
Even we had to google I-Town!! Powerful pedigree on both sides of this one. When Brig purchased this heifer this fall he didn’t intend on selling her, and then several families saw her so here she is. Retaining 1/2 embryo interest
The Ingram family is offering another standout from their small but powerful cow herd. A High Quality look, massive bone, cowy center, and legs that will never fault her. She is a maternal sib to the smokey female that was successfully campaigned by the Trauernicht family last fall including Champion Chi Composite female at the American Royal.
Built from the same mold as the one lotted before her and from the same outfit. Study these two females because they are built a lot alike with a little different twist in color. Some of the Simmental breed greats on the bottom side of her pedigree.
Line bred Flashback and as you would guess, cowy as ever. We raised her sire and he now walks at Wiedel’s. Her Dam is a maternal sister to the Red Angus heifer Gregg found in Old’s Canada while he was judging, We purchased her and she was the National Champion Red Angus and Supreme overall breeds at NILE for Ledoux. Powerfull cow families are hard to find and even better when you line them up.
A maternal sister to the $29,000 Red Angus we sold last year. This one was weaned late and probably not as chunky as last years at this time, but she is athletic and geakier necked. Time will be on your side with this one, and when she hits, she will hit.
Reg. *s4338724 Sesquicentennial left this world way before he was done making his mark and this heifer is another reason why. This set of PB Shorthorns we have this year are highly competitive and the Dam of this high caliber roan was raised by the Smith Family here in Kansas and successfully shown by Zengers.
younger maternal sib to the Roan heifer above. It will take some time for us to be able to say she is like her sister because of maturity, but her long sleek neck, awesome structure, and belly shape for her age is incredible.
Big Judd is a Big Deal out of a female that won Hoosier Beef Congress back in the day and he is impressive. With the lack of a good shorthorn bulls walking the place these days we clean him up on our young colored cows every year. The dam of this heifer is a 3/4 and maternal sib to the standout roan lotted above her. You bet we will be pulling this one’s dam into the donor lineup after her next calf.
When you combine an outcross bull known for power and mass with one built like a show heifer it usually works. This heifer is that example, awesome attitude to boot. She’s built like the cows you hear about 10 years into production that out produce themselves. Cow power at its finest.
The youngest PB in the offering but man does she hold her own. A good Uno Mas is worth a lot as a cow, so one built like this one should be worth that much more. Her full sister was our high selling PB two years ago and this one is better. A neck that doesn’t end and quality of shape and skeletal integrity that is very hard to put in a PB. Don’t hold back because of size because this one is built for the long haul. Retaining 1/2 Embryo Interest
This one’s genetics alone are worth tuning in. Bred to raise high quality stock and more. She is broke and ready to go for a young showman and her elite pieces are what they are looking for in this breed.
The 3/4 lineup is intriguing and all 4 are built to run with 1/2 bloods. This is the most advanced and furthest along of this percentage group. Leg’s that are long term, style and balance to boot. Study lot 56 and 57’s dam and you will see what this one can do in raising elite PB’s some day.
These next two 3/4 sibs are intriguing. Not exactly what one would expect from a Remedy x Broker mating because these two are so smooth in their shoulder and muscle pattern. Of the two this heifer is honestly a shot bigger in her hip design and ever so slight boulder in her center. Pure Cow Power here with look. Retaining 1/2 embryo Interest
This one reads more like those highly competitive half bloods with a 3/4 pedigree. Long sweet neck design, soft in her hair and body build, and oh so athletic on the go. We can’t get over how good these 3/4 bloods are this year. Retaining 1/2 embryo interest
Interesting twist in pedigree. Her Granddam won Louisville and Junior Nationals and was undefeated in breed as a Comp. Charolais. Yeah her grandam was a smokey but obviously good. Wiedel flushed that cow to Bankroll and this is the first calf out of this promising new Simmy cow. She is bred to raise em. A brut of a cow with the forever legs. The amount of body and mass this one puts together but still just so complete in her design. We are revved up on Honey Broker, and this is another example why.
We bought a set of cows from Shaffer’s and they were all bred to a Loaded Up son Schaake raised. This one is filled with mass and body but still so delicate and true when she moves. She will be fun to show and even more valuable as a cow.
I want to call this heifer an oops because we sorted this cow to start flushing. I’m glad we don’t use lut on our first heats on donors because we would have dumped this heifer. This cow after never seeing heat we knew she had to be bred and when this one was born it was a blessing. Old school cow pedigree on one of our go to Calving ease Angus Bulls and a full sib to JSAR Titan.
The natural calf out of our 3194B Donor. We traded her sire for a couple bred heifers to Trauernicht. The old barter system works because we’ve had several high sellers out of this bull and they’ve done the same with their bred heifers now cows. This heifer has all the power and performance in the world but still looks like a show cow.
It’s hard to put into words how this one is built. Wow in her balance and look. Wow in her softness of hair coat. And Wow in her ability to get out and go. She will be highly competitive. Retaining 1/2 embryo interest
These next 4 sisters are awesome. Can be registered several different ways, out of a proven cow and the bull that never misses for us. This is quality at its best and we put the sharpest and showiest 4 sisters in the sale. I think all 4 of these are built from a different mold, but all 4 high quality with parts that flow like they are supposed to.
Our 506D donor has several lots in this sale and several out of Different Sire Groups because she works. This might be the most intriguing of all of them. High Ear Set, awesome rib and belly design, and a hip and hind leg that will stand the test of time. A favorite of many who’s passed through.
We will be offering a “Top Cut” selection of 40+ Bred Females in the sale. This selection will include many breeds and alll are bred to JSAR Calving Ease Angus Bulls. These females are due to calve in March and sell guranteed pregnant. Bred Female photos and suppliment sheet will be posted on the web site prior to the sale and suppliment sheets will be avaialbe in the office on sale day.
