Caity, good morning, how are you today? I don’t know if it’s too late to wish you a happy belated birthday?
I’m feeling great actually, got a spring in my step! It’s never too late and I would appreciate that so much.
How did you celebrate your 21st?
I went to Cardi . I had a show in Cardi and brought all my friends and family with me and we got an Airbnb and went out in the evening, had an Italian. And last weekend I had a massive party in Shoreditch with my friends. It was amazing.
I understand that you applied to go to uni but didn’t go because your music videos started taking off on TikTok. What was you going to study?
Music and music production. And then I was like… “No, I’m just gonna go out and do it”.
Good for you. Life must have changed a lot because it’s not been a long time right, I mean it’s been 2-3 years, but your life must have completely changed in that time!
Oh yeah, completely! Also, it was weird because the rst year I couldn’t really do anything because of Covid. I didn’t really get the chance to go out and perform. My rst performances were last year. So… Yeah. It was crazy. My life compared to when I was gonna go to uni, to now, is just ridiculous. But we’re doing it!
You’ve just finished a tour, but you’ve got another exciting new European and US tour in the pipeline. Have you been to these places before and where are you most looking forward to performing?
I went to L.A. in April. Again, it’s like places that I never thought of going… L.A.! That’s like a movie town! I’ve been to New York before when I was little, but I can’t really remember it – all I remember is the big toy store, so it’s gonna be cool to go back! I’m just excited that I get to travel with what comes naturally, it’s just so cool! It’s like how lucky could someone be? It’s amazing and I’m so happy that I get to do it!
A lot of your songs talk about relationships, do you find it as a way of being able to get back at an ex?
The best sort of revenge ever is saying nothing and then seeing how great I’m doing. Well, my only ex-boyfriend, he’s such a loser, I just don’t like him at all. There have been so many times when I could have called him and been “Arghhhh”… but I’ve said no things, no words. Completely “bye-bye”. But then my songs on the radio and there about you, and they’re amazing, HAHA!
The power! What’s been your most awkward date?
Haha, I went on this date, with this boy, and I really fancied him. We were 20 minutes into the date and the food has just come and he got a call from a friend. His friend was like “How long you gonna be because we’re all going out”. He looked at me and said, “What you reckon about 10 minutes?”, I was there literally with the food not even touched, like “yeah”.
In terms of music Leave Me Alone, is a wicked tune! How much input do you have on YOUR MUSIC videos?
The girl that directs my music videos is called Callaway Breeze, who is an amazing, amazing talent. Most of the time we’ll sit down and listen to the song, and she’ll come up with an idea and we’ll discuss it and both put in little inputs, but mainly it comes from her. This time for Leave Me Alone, we were on tour in Dublin and we wrote the song in a hotel room. It was two in the morning, and I was like “I’ve got the best idea”, and we voice-noted the idea for 20 minutes and I was like “What if I was looking amazing in this bedroom, in this big house, and all these things are going on”. So, I do that side of things and then Calli brought in all the movie references.
Can we talk about your future album, it’s in the planning, right?
Well, obviously I wanna release an album. I have so many songs. I am literally in the studio right now, making more songs. I’m in the studio every day. I’ve been posting them all on TikTok and putting them on socials to see what people are feeling. Sorry, I’m just going back on myself, but I think nowadays people sit on music for too long and it really annoys me. No one cares that you’ve got new stu coming. You have to just be like “Here is when it’s gonna happen and here is why it is happening”. So, I’ve taken this new thing of like: post the new music and stu , collect it all together and that will be the album.
I love Ibiza, bury me there! It’s the best. I’ve been there two times with Joel, and a few times with friends. It’s just hilarious that this time last year I was staying at Ibiza Rocks, bee ng the security guards [LAUGHS], and then this year I am performing at it with Joel Corry. It’s hilarious. It’s amazing. Progression, you know?
And how are you finding that side of it – fame?
Because you must be ge ing recognised out and about nowadays? Two years ago, nobody would’ve known you and now you’ll be walking down the streets and people will be like “Caity Baser”?
I’ve waited my whole life – my whole 21 years of life for someone to be like “Oh my God, are you Caity Baser – do you sing”? So now when people do it, I’m like “YES! That’s me, it’s me”. Like my inner child is like “ARGHHH YEAHHH”. I love it, it’s great.
So, you dreamed to be in the position you are in now?
Ah, nice! And Ibiza: talk to us about Ibiza!... Yeah! And then some! My dreams are way bigger than what I’m doing now, it’s just the process isn’t it?
What dreams do you have now, that you are aiming towards?
Just to be the biggest-selling, most amazing, famous, touring worldwide, number one hits singer in the whole world [LAUGHS].
You are only 21 - you must have to work really hard, to achieve what you’re achieving. Is there a sense of mi ing out? You know going out with your friends or are you able to do both?
It’s de nitely less than what I could do last year. Last year I spent every single day of summer with my friends. Now it’s like every other weekend, max! But it’s nice because it makes me work harder and then chill out more when I’m with them.
So, you don’t have to compromise as such, well you do, but you don’t lose out?
Yeah, and all the shows I’m doing I can bring my friends with me and it’s hilarious. Like last weekend at Cardi , I was like “Do you all wanna come?”, they were like “Yeah!”. It’s cool to do this with them. It’s really cool. I’m good at the moment, I dunno if that will change, but like right now, I’m really good.
In terms of parties, it’s nearly Freshers and all the students are gonna be going wild acro the UK! Can you give them a top house party tip Caity Baser style, or some kind of tip for Freshers?

Hey Teddy! ank you so much for your time, it’s an honour. Can we start by you telling us where you are, and what you can see?
Thank you for having me! I’m in a hotel in Boise Idaho looking at the Starbucks next to me wondering if it’s too early for yet another double espresso.
You must be so hyped about your career: currently on tour, a new debut album coming, and the fans absolutely love your music! How are you feeling right now about everything, (have you had much time to soak it up yet)?
I’m trying to make as much room for soaking as I possibly can! Making sure I take every moment possible to be present and grateful for all the good things happening but I’m working my a** o ! Tired and wired! Couldn’t be more grateful!
Lose Control is your latest single, and quite honestly it gave me goosebumps within seconds. It’s just perfection. How long did it take to write and finish this song, and what was the inspiration behind it?
It was written at a writing camp in Palm Springs! I’m very fortunate to have had some of the greatest friends and writers in the world on this; Mikky Ekko, Ammo, and of course my absolute hero Julian Bunetta has been writing with me since the beginning of my career and has always seen me! We really developed it into something beautiful!
Musically who inspires you and which artists did you listen to growing up as a kid?
Sometimes I feel like God’s favorite kid I grew up with some amazing friends who are the most amazing musicians in the world who still write, produce, play and tour with me all over the world to this day! Having a foundation of childhood friends has made me who I am.
In terms of the tour, you really are on a mission from Europe to Australia and across the US! What’s it like being on the road for so long, and where are you most excited to be performing?
It’s tough on the mind, body, and spirit but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. There are things about it I didn’t know I was signing up for! We miss weddings, birthdays, funerals, and hell we even miss family members giving birth! But it’s worth it for how proud they are and how many amazing connections we get to make with beautiful humans all over the world! Meeting new lifelong friends every day!
Let’s talk debut album! I’ve Tried Everything But erapy (Part 1) was released on 15th September. Can you talk to us about the record, its sound, and the message it sends?
I’ve been writing songs for the last 4 years and I truly believe this is some of the best work I’ve done out of maybe 400-500 songs! I think it’s a cohesive look into my personal struggles to cope with love and loss and why people do the things they do. I truly believe this is a look into my rst steps of healing and growing and if I didn’t have all the people I have in my life I don’t know if I’d still be here!
“Part 1” suggests a series of works. Do you know yet how many parts there will be and what is the plan and idea about the “parts”?
The current plan is to have a second part to this next year! We are currently putting it together and still writing and working to keep the story going!
You currently have 4,866,515 monthly Spotify listeners. I just calculated that you have 112 people listening to your music every single minute, that’s 6,720 listeners per hour! Did you ever imagine your music reaching these kinds of numbers, and how do you feel about it? Do the numbers matter to you, or hold great significance?
It’s hard for numbers to not hold signi cance! I still remember the rst time we got 10,000 views on something and we were so ecstatic and celebrated it! Now if I see something under 1,000,000 I feel let down. It’s diminished returns. But I always try to remind myself those are real people with real lives who care to give me the time of day to connect to them. The more I do this and get to travel the world and meet these people rst-hand and hear stories and how my music has made a di erence. That makes the numbers no longer have importance because even if it was 10 views and it changed one life it’s so worth it!
With all the raw talent you clearly have, what advice would you give a younger Teddy Swims, before you reached this level of success? Maybe a lesson you have learned from the music industry, perhaps?
I’d tell younger me to trust your gut!! You’re right! Don’t compare yourself to others. Fail over and over! Nobody is counting your failures just your wins! And also, don’t drink so much.
Can you talk to us about the person behind Teddy Swims… What motivates you, what are your dreams and plans?
I want to be the best to ever do it! I don’t think I’ll ever personally feel that way but the never achieving goal I set is what keeps me motivated! The best thing about wanting what you can’t have is never getting it! I just wanna see people be decent to each other. Love isn’t as hard as it’s made out to be!
Your music is stunning, and you also look brilliant, it’s like the full package from sound to style. Your label must equally be as excited about your future as you. No one is perfect though, right? Are there any areas you are focusing on developing further?
I feel like I have Warner and my team and family all behind me and supporting me! I feel loved! I can’t lose! No one is perfect but I don’t want that. I see myself as a student to life! I just want to further develop the love I have for myself! That’s always been a struggle for me! Insecurities and the way I talk to myself! I’m trying to learn every day to wake up and look at myself in the mirror rst thing and say “I love you. You’re beautiful. You’re doing a great job!”
In terms of appearance, what is your favourite tattoo you have?
One of my best friends in the world Derrick tattooed a portrait of himself on me and I get to carry him with me everywhere I go now. It’s my favorite part of tattoos. When I travel, I get a chance to meet tattoo artists and when I get tattooed by them, I make them sign their name on me too! I feel like I’m a walking art show!
Finally, for anyone out there looking up to you as their role model and who maybe wants to break into the music industry, what advice can you offer?
You can’t always write the good ones! The bad songs or the okay songs will be the ones that inform your best work! Having too many expectations of what something should be could totally get in the way of what you can create! If it feels right, it’s right.

Having clear objectives helps guide your band’s progress and provides a sense of purpose.
One of the most thrilling aspects of being in a band is performing live. Embrace opportunities to showcase your talent on and o campus. Look for open mic nights, local venues, or university events that welcome student bands. Performing live helps you re ne your stage presence, connect with an audience, and receive valuable feedback. As an artist, what does your work represent? Who is Anton Vic?
Anton Vic is more than just a stage name; it's an alter-ego an that allows me to channel my deepest emotions and thoughts. Through this persona, I find solace in expressing my personal experiences and navigating the challenges of clinical anxiety. Additionally, Anton Vic serves as a vessel to explore and articulate the emotions that resonate with others.
In 2019, I had a breakthrough moment where I began to discover the direction I wanted to take with my brand, both musically and visually. However, this journey has been an ongoing evolution, as I continue to grow alongside it. It took time for me to truly understand and define the representation of who I wanted to be as an artist. Even now, I wouldn't say that I have reached complete comfort in my artistic identity, as I constantly seek out new challenges and opportunities for growth. As I work with my abilities and talent, I firmly believe that even when I begin performing live by the end of 2023, I will still feel this way. The learning curve never ceases, and that's a mindset I embrace.

Thanks a ton for the lovely compliment! I've got some big dreams on my mind - I want to travel the world, rock the stage alongside amazing bands and artists, and carve out my own place in the music scene. Playing at cool festivals and dropping new tunes regularly is important, but what truly drives me is connecting with people, spreading joy, and giving them unforgettable experiences. And you know what? Opening for Twenty One Pilots is a goal I'm determined to achieve. It's gonna be epic!

Hello Lev, it’s great to see you again. Please tell us how you’ve been. You obviously just got back from Greenland, can you tell us how the trip was?
Yeah! Course! It was amazing actually. It was the nal journey in what’s been a yearlong series of expeditions, going o in search of endangered species. We went to Borneo to go to look for Orangutans in the wild. Then Namibia looking at Desert Lions, and Polar Bears in the Arctic. It was amazing actually because we were looking at the real front lines of conservation and climate change and seeing how wildlife’s adapting and how indigenous communities, which are often the guardians of these wild spaces and the animals that live there, live alongside and protect the animals.
During the filming of this series, did you ever have a connection with an animal, in the eyes, where they were looking at you as food, or needing your help?
Both actually. When I was in Namibia we got charged by a lion, which was very very close. That was lmed and in the series so you can see that. Seeing a Polar Bear from about 50 metres away, staring that in the eyes as well, that was pretty amazing. But also going to see the Orangutan orphanage in Sabah, in Borneo, that was amazing. Being very close to these orphan amazing creatures.
This was a different expedition to your previous ones so how did you best prepare for the risks involved?
It was less physical this time. But mentally and emotionally you gotta be prepared to see some pretty shocking things. And also to learn about the countries before you go to them. Learn about the history. Try and understand why people behave the way they do. I try and show a balanced viewpoint. It’s not “palm oil is bad”, it’s like well actually, “it’s the least bad out of all the oils”. If it wasn’t palm oil it would be another form of plantation. But palm oil is actually the most e cient crop. Now the fact remains in the world that there is a huge demand for vegetable oil, and oil for all the products that we use in our supermarkets. So we just need to be more e cient and nd di erent ways of doing this. But it would be ridiculous to ban palm oil products straight out because it will put millions of people out of jobs. Then what happens? They’ll go into the forests because they’re desperate and they’ll go and hunt all the animals to extinction. It’s about balance.
You’re also a keen photographer, do you have any favourite pictures from this recent expedition?
Oh, I do! I’ve got this amazing photo of a Polar Bear which I’ve not published yet, but I will when it comes out. Photographing wildlife is just a dream. It’s amazing. There will be some great photos coming up on my social media and website. I’ll probably sell some as prints as well if people are interested.
Amazing, thank you, I can’t wait to see them. Looking back at this quest, how do you feel about the challenges we are facing to protect our planet and life, and the likelihood of humans coordinating a successful route out of the climate crisis?
I think we’re deluded if we think we’re gonna reduce warming to the 1.5% target – it’s not gonna happen. I think we might, if we do something now, reduce it to 2% increase but that in itself is gonna have a huge impact. The thing is, we’re still on the upward curve in terms of population growth and carbon emissions so we need to do something very quickly to reverse that trend. It will reverse eventually. Within 50 years the population will plateau and then decline which will have a huge e ect then on emissions and outputs but until that, it’s what happens in the next 30 years that matters. You know, in our lifetime, it’s gonna be a huge pivotal point. I don’t think people quite realise how close we are to having huge massive extinctions.
