After packing Patton Alley for their debate watch party earlier this month, the local Bernie Sanders movement set their eyes on the Outland with a two stage 9 band fundraiser for the candidate Oct. 24th. The whole downstairs was filled with a lively crowd covered in stickers and buttons, and a solid mix of local talent kept them all grooving. (Cumbats & Gigantic with my personal favs of the night.) I hung around the "Recall Justin Burnett Petition Booth" and helped people decided if they lived in Zone 2 or not. Most of them did not, but they were all supportive. (find a petition to sign if you do live there) I got to see a few people get registered to vote which was great! And I signed a petition to put a mandate to legalize marijuana on the ballot, which seemed like a popular idea. Its times like this that make me think of Hunter Thompson's Freak Power movement (google it). There is so much potential in the crowds at shows, so many talented, thoughtful, and motivated people ... seeing that utilized in socio-political movements is inspiring! Find out more:

check out facebook.com/showmebernie for upcoming Bernie events... also check out their weekly meetings Thursdays at 6:30 at the Painters Union Hall & if you are game travel with them to Iowa Nov. 6-8th get involved with the Recall Burnett movement at recallburnett.com register to vote at the nearest public library, or at the county clerk's office
