The Manager's Message

Dear Homeowners,

Spring is in the air, and we have finally received a reprieve from all the rain.

The Greenwood Group has explained that since we had such a wet winter that we should expect weeds in our lawns and more Red Ant mounds than usual. Their recommendation for residents is to use both pre- and post-emergent treatments to try to control the weeds in your lawn. For the ants, if you are in the common area and you see an ant mound please email sterlinginfo@ greenwoodgroup.net with the approximate location so we can help keep our parks safe from these insects.

With the arrival of Spring many residents install summer flowers in your landscaping beds.If your landscaping beds have an area for perennial flower the following are some suggestions to consider for your beds: Lantana’s, Vincas, Impatience or Begonias. Please remember when replenishing your landscaping beds with mulch please use the approved black and brown mulch or pine straw. Please do not use red mulch or wood chips.

If you are planning to paint your home, do any exterior repairs, or landscaping enhancements, please submit a Design Modification request along with the documentation and the $75 modification fee to the Clubhouse lock box, located the right of the Clubhouse front door, for review by the Design Review Committee.

The community continues to move forward with plans for the summer. The trail signs have been installed thanks to help from the Lakes and Trails Committee. The Lake Pavilion has been repaired and painted, and gutters have been added to help with erosion control. The committee is looking at additional enhancements for this venue in 2021. Twelve Crepe Myrtles have been added to the island, and the Clubhouse Trail is scheduled to be re-paved in May.

The Sterling on the Lake Board of Directors are happy to announce that the Transition Committee has been established and will begin their meetings in May. The members are as follows: Charlie Jemo, Jean Marie Ellis, Erin Mundy, David Benson, Shawn Lesko, David Welch, and Joe Lanford. We look forward to working with these residents as we move towards the Resident managed community.

The Board has also established a Landscaping Committee to work the me and the Board to plan landscaping within the community. The committee will be involved with the landscaping enhancements of the common areas and overseeing the Landscaping company. If you are interested in joining this committee, please contact Tammy Quinn my email is tquinn@cmacommunities.com.

The Board, my staff, and I would like to thank the Community for your continued help and cooperation during the COVID 19 outbreak within our state.
