I MIGHT REGRET THIS A Conversation With Abbi Jacobson WITH GUEST MODERATOR Phoebe Robinson Presented In Partnership With STRAND BOOKS I MIGHT REGRET THIS is the story of a road trip, but also of a woman reaching a crossroads in her life, reevaluating where she’s going and how she’s getting there. This collection is a deeply relatable exploration of what it means to achieve success in one part of your life, only to realize you’ve neglected other things. Abbi Jacobson is grappling not only with what it means to be a boss as a young woman who is proud of her success, but also her insecurities about things big and small that she wishes she would have said or done differently. In touching detail, she talks about how her mother inspired her to find real joy and validation in the simple act of putting her art into the world. She also outlines her hilarious rest-stop exercise routine, and an aura-reading that begins with hope, moves through incredulity, and leaves her in tears. In this collection of anecdotes, observations and reflections—all told in the sharp, wildly funny, and relatable voice that has endeared Abbi to critics and fans alike—readers will feel like they’re in the passenger seat on a fun and, ultimately, inspiring journey. Featuring original illustrations from the author, I Might Regret This is a hilarious and poignant collection of essays about love, loss, work, comedy, and figuring out who you really are when you thought you already knew.
“Poignant, funny, and beautifully unabashed, I Might Regret This takes readers on both a cross-the-country adventure and a deep dive into Abbi Jacobson’s gigantic heart. “ — Cheryl Strayed “As a passionate fan of Abbi Jacobson’s comedy, it was no surprise to me that this book is hilarious, peculiar, and very smart. But I was unprepared for the courage she shows in making herself vulnerable on these pages: Jacobson cracks open her heart and explores love and loneliness, travel and independence, success and self-loathing. I wish I hadn’t finished reading this...I miss her already.” — Ariel Levy, author of The Rules Do Not Apply “Intimate and brave in a way her audience has yet to experience, I Might Regret This is a funny, vulnerable, generous, and excruciatingly honest look at the beautiful heart that beats inside Abbi Jacobson.” — Samantha Irby, New York Times bestselling author of We Are Never Meeting in Real Life

AB O U T T H E P R O G RA M Abbi JacobsoN, an acclaimed actor, writer, producer, and illustrator, is best known as the series creator, executive producer and star of the wildly popular Comedy Central series, Broad City. She is also the voice of the lead character in Matt Groening’s new animated series for Netflix, Disenchantment, the host of “A Piece of Work,” an art podcast with WNYC and MoMA, and the New York Times-bestselling author of the illustrated book, Carry This Book. Even with this impressive list of projects, in various mediums, I Might Regret This is unlike anything Abbi has created before. It’s no surprise that Abbi Jacobson’s unique and hilarious voice jumps off the page in I Might Regret This, but what sets this collection of essays apart, is how incredibly vulnerable and honest it is. Shortly after having her heart broken for the first time, Abbi announced to friends and acquaintances that she planned to drive across the country, alone. She was met with lots of questions and opinions: Why wasn’t she going with friends? Wouldn’t it be incredibly lonely? The North route is better! Was it safe for a woman? The Southern route is the way to go! You should bring mace! And a common one... why? But Abbi had always found comfort in solitude and needed space to step back and hit the reset button. As she spent time in each city and town on her way from New York to Los Angeles, she mulled over the big questions—What do I really want? What is the worst possible scenario in which I could run into my ex? How has the decision to wear my shirts tucked in been pivotal in my adulthood? Phoebe Robinson is a multi-talented stand-up comedian, New York Times best-selling writer, and actress. She is best known for her burgeoning podcast empire at WNYC Studios as the co-creator and costar of the hit podcast 2 Dope Queens. On her second WNYC Studios podcast, Sooo Many White Guys, Phoebe hosts the critically-acclaimed interview talk show with talent including Tom Hanks, Issa Rae, Abbi Jacobson, and many more. Phoebe authored the New York Times best seller, You Can’t Touch My Hair & Other Things I Still Have To Explain, a collection of essays about race, gender and pop culture. Her second book, Everything’s Trash, But It’s Okay was released in October. Phoebe made her feature film debut this summer with the release of Netflix’s Ibiza. She’ll next be seen in Paramount’s film What Men Want, premiering in February 2019. Phoebe has appeared on CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers and Last Call with Carson Daly; TBS’s Conan and Search Party, Comedy Central’s Broad City, @midnight with Chris Hardwick, and The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore; as well as starring in a recurring role on Jill Soloway’s show for Amazon entitled I Love Dick. She was the creator and star in Refinery29’s web series Woke Bae and was a staff writer on the final season of Portlandia. Her writing has been featured in InStyle, The Village Voice, NY Mag, Bitch Magazine and Glamour Magazine as well as on Glamour. com, TheDailyBeast.com, VanityFair.com, Vulture.com, and NYTimes. com. She was also a staff writer on MTV’s hit talking head show, Girl Code, as well as a consultant on season three of Broad City. 2 | @TownHallNYC

T O U R THE H I ST O R I C T O WN HA L L Town Hall has played an integral part in the electrifying cultural fabric of New York City for more than 90 years. A group of Suffragists’ fight for the 19th Amendment led them to build a meeting space to educate people on the important issues of the day. During its construction, the 19th Amendment was passed, and on January 12, 1921 The Town Hall opened its doors and took on a double meaning: as a symbol of the victory sought by its founders, and as a spark for a new, more optimistic climate. In 1921, German composer Richard Strauss performed a series of concerts that cemented the Hall’s reputation as an ideal venue for musical performances. Since, Town Hall has been home to countless musical milestones: The US debuts of Strauss, and Isaac Stern; Marian Anderson’s first New York recital; in 1945, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker introduced bebop to the world; Bob Dylan’s first major concert in ‘63; and much much more.
