The 17th Annual Plantation Wildlife Arts Festival is almost here! I met with Brandy K. from the Center for the Arts last month to get the scoop and it looks like they are really amping it up this year. The opening event will be the always fab Patron and Preview Party on Friday Nov. 16th. Maybe even more exciting is the guest speaker scheduled for Saturday at 3:30 - Guy de la Valdene is hosting a screening of his film Tarpon. For all my fellow fishing fanatics out there - this is going to be something to see. The film is about fishing in Key West in the 1970s and is set to the music of Jimmy Buffet - need I say more? And I know you don’t want to miss Bird Dog Bash out at Pebble Hill with a bourbon tasting hosted by J’s, bluegrass by the Packway Handle Band, a quick-draw auction and dinner by John Thomas of Cowboy Grill. The other special event I’m crazy about is the wild game cooking demo with The Outdoorsman’s Table on Sunday. Plus - many downtown shops will be open on Sunday. So make a weekend of it and get a little * * at Plantation Wildlife!

Happy Birthday TO THE TOWNIE! My chum Melissa T. is a native of the ‘Ville and works at the family business, Astro Exterminating. Ever stylish and constantly kind, she’s one of the most Towniest of Townies — popping in all over downtown and spreading a little cheer. 1 - Gold or Silver? GOLD! 2 - Spicy or sour? Spicy 3 - Bermuda or London? London 4 - Faux jewels or faux fur? Real jewels - faux fur! 5 - Friday nite: home with the hubs or out with the girls? Girls nite out!

Three years ago I met with a hodgepodge group of ladies to talk about Thomasville. The consensus was that there needed to be a voice or a person to tell the Thomasville story, to tell people what’s happening and to highlight our local culture. I thought about that for a bit and then said Hmm….. maybe a blog? And the Townie was born! Three years later and with so many new friends I can’t even count them and with umpteen blog posts and now six newspapers published with partner Ballenger Design, not to mention an article in Southern Living, I have to say it…. I love this Thomasville life!! I can’t thank my sponsors enough for believing in me these past three years and I really can’t express how much it means to me that all of you Townies read and love this funny little thing I write. Thomasville is an incredibly wonderful place like no where else on Earth. People are kind and supportive and

genuine. It’s more than I could ever have hoped for in a town and I’m sure so many of you feel the same way. So Happy Birthday to The Townie and a million thanks for your support! XOXO - Bunny

kicks off at 10am with a special Bell’s-themed menu

Thomasville is so entrepreneur friendly that Tville native and Townie Evan Carraway Wortman grew up knowing she’d one day start her own business. After college and some work experience, she decided to open up shop as Mimi’s the Look for Less - and my how it’s grown! What started as trunk shows is now a full-scale wholesale line under the name of Caroline Hill and is in 400 stores across the Southeast. Evan says she wasn’t afraid to start a business because she knew how well Thomasville supports its local entrepreneurs - what a great testimonial for The ’Ville! In addition to the wholesale line, the flagship location of Mimi’s the Look will be right here in Thomasville. Look for the new store to open on Jackson St. {next to Lavish} just in time for First Friday! Mimi’s will have all the fancy bling you’ve come to expect, plus trial-run merchandise for Caroline Hill as well as overstocks. They’ll be introducing new items such as bone jewelry from South Africa and some other higher end items as well as clearing space in the warehouse, so get there on Friday for opening day deals and steals!

and special release/seasonal beers both on tap and in the bottle. Then, from Noon to 4pm, they'’ll have representatives from Bell’s in the shop to chat with customers. From 5pm to 7pm, Bell’s Specialty Brewer Zeke Bogan will be on hand to answer all your beer questions! {There is no charge for this event}

Thomasville’s New Artist Collective

In six short months, the Thomasville Center for the Arts has started their Artist Collective and attracted more than 80 members. They’ve also launched an online gallery with more than 50 diverse pieces of work, ranging from paintings and mixed media collage to hand-crafted furniture.
