HE COVID-19 pandemic is not only changing the way Bahamians live, work, conduct business, and socialise, it is also changing the way they worship. Some churches across the country are suspending services to suppress the virus’ spread. The move, though drastic, is one being taken by many religious sanctuaries around the world as countries grapple with curbing the highly infectious disease. To ensure congregants still have access to the word of God, some churches are taking full advantage of technology by live-streaming sermons and messages on their social media channels. And while use of technology is important during this pandemic, Pastor Kendyce Moultrie said something undeniably significant happens when members of the body of Christ gather for worship in person. “We realise that with everything going on, one of the things people want to do is recognise that God still has power, He is still a healer,” he told Tribune Religion. Pastor Moultrie’s ministry, Shiloh Abundant Life, will keep the doors to its sanctuary open and will carry on with its regular services. The church currently hosts three services a week – a prayer service, Bible study and Sunday worship. The senior pastor said while the church has opted to continue with its worship services, which see anywhere between 60 to 80 congregants at a time, they have been following all health recommendations. “We are also at a place where we understand wisdom

as well. We are going to create a safe environment...from an in-house body standpoint that we can manage,” he said. “Whatever we do, we are ensuring we are not invading anyone’s personal space. We are still worshipping. We have made accommodation for things that have been recommended from a health standpoint. I think in every environment that people go in the goal is it to practice safety. Keep your safe distance.” Part of keeping the environment safe, Pastor Moultrie said, involves ensuring disinfectant wipes are available to congregants, and constantly wiping down doors and surfaces. As for those who are unable to attend services, including the at-risk in his congregation, the ministry will use media and technology to reach them. Pastor Moultrie said at the heart of the decision to keep their doors open is that people are yearning for a place where they can find comfort and be uplifted during a time when many are fearful. While they will still utilise the internet, he does not believe this form of worship should replace actual church attendance. “People have used live streaming as a vehicle to be lazy, and though it is convenient for those who are shut in, sometimes it can promote us not feeling the need to have to come out,” he said. “We all learn differently, but the harsh reality in the faith environment is that we benefit so much more from being together. We want to encourage togetherness and that is a hard pill to swallow. Technology definitely has its place, but it shouldn’t replace the gathering of people.”
Meanwhile, the Anglican Diocese of the Bahamas announced yesterday that it is suspending all church services, Bible studies and meetings for two weeks from today. Archbishop Laish Boyd said in a statement: “As the situation with the virus is evolving, we will evaluate the matter before we move forward. I repeat that is a temporary measure. In the meantime parishes may keep their Church Office open, and the Diocesan Office will remain open. When the government directs that all but non-essential services close, then we will close our offices as well.” Up to press time yesterday, the Bahamas Christian Council had yet to make an announcement as to whether churches covered under its membership will continue to hold services amidst the threat of a local COVID-19 outbreak. Earlier this week, Bishop Delton Fernander, BCC president, told The Tribune the important decision must be made soon, as church leaders should be in a position to inform their congregations by this coming Sunday. The BCC membership consists of the following denominations: Anglican Church (province of the West Indies); Roman Catholic Church; Assemblies of Brethren; Bahamas National Baptist Union; Greek Orthodox Church; Lutheran Church of Nassau; Methodist Church (Caribbean and the Americas); Pentecostal Church; Seventhday Adventist Church, and the Salvation Army. The New Providence Community Church was one of the first to announce that it would be suspending all Sunday services and large gatherings until March 29.

REV ANGELA C BOSFIELD PALACIOUS
SOCIAL DISTANCING AND SPIRITUAL CLOSENESS “SOCIAL distancing” - this is now an everyday term that speaks to the current pandemic crisis facing us all. The idea that we may avoid being infected by droplets by remaining at least six feet apart has caused us to separate ourselves from each other. Social media becomes the way to stay in touch so that we keep each other encouraged, pray together and praise God, using music and Scripture and meditations. The telephone calls, video call and other means of viewing each other, allow for the distance to be reduced if quarantines. Lent is an excellent time to consider distancing ourselves from social behavior that is not in keeping with the gospel: 1. The use of obscene language, so prevalent in our society today 2. The use of abuse to control the thoughts, emotions and actions of others 3. The use of addictive substances that alter the mind and personality4. 4. The willful indulgence in immoral and illegal activities 5. Consider what other areas of your life need to be left behind, Cry out to the Lord when you are overwhelmed by your own guilt, shame and suffering, as the psalmist did: “I cried out to God for help; I cried out to God to hear me. When I was in distress, I sought the Lord; at night I stretched out untiring hands, and I would not be comforted. I remembered you, God, and I groaned; I meditated, and my spirit grew faint. You kept my eyes from closing; I was too troubled to speak. I thought about the former days, the years of long ago; I remembered my songs in the night. My heart meditated and my spirit asked: “Will the Lord reject forever? Will he never show his favour again. Has his unfailing love vanished forever?Has his promise failed for all time? Has God forgotten to be merciful; Has he in anger withheld his compassion?” Then I thought, “To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand. I will remember the deeds of the Lord; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. I will consider all your works and meditate on all your mighty deeds.” (Psalm 75:1-12 GNT). Every experience has a lesson to learn
Every experience has a lesson to learn and teach. What are you learning, teaching or processing at this time?
and teach. What are you learning, teaching or processing at this time? Let us look at the possible spiritual implications of this time in our national development: 1. We are in the midst of a health crisis that requires us to practice better
hygiene. As we engage in hand-washing let us think of the blood of Christ washing us clean from every stain of sin. Allow the Holy Spirit to sanitize you with the anointing of holiness to guide you into all truth.
2. We are bracing for the economic impact of restricted travel and various shortages. The lesson that is quite clear is our need for more intentional diversification of the economy, more food production, constant re-evaluation of our personal approach to materialism and consumerism, and more effective stewardship as it relates to the use of the earth’s resources. 3. As we journey toward Easter, we are called to be still and know that God is our God. This should happen every day for some period of time, but especially if we find ourselves having to self-quarantine. 4. The threat of possible illness and even death forces us to examine our personal relationships and very often to come to the realisation that we have taken others for granted. May we all be more grateful, wherever possible, for the people in our lives, and share our thoughts and feelings about the gift of God that they are to us. Being in quarantine together hopefully will create greater unity in the family. 5. Remember too that God dwells in our praises and allow your heart to cancel out fear with faithful worship, even as you closely follow the precautions mandated by government and health officials. Be strong and of courage as you face the future as Moses commanded Joshua to be: “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1: 7-9 NIV). • Rev Angela Palacious, a motivational speaker and author of several devotional books, is an Anglican priest. BISHOP BOYD: ‘COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WILL NOT DIMINISH ANGLICAN CHURCH’ A
S the Anglican Church in The Bahamas has, for the time being, suspended all services, Bible studies and meetings due to the outbreak of COVID19, Bishop Laish Boyd is reminding the faithful that the words of the Psalmist are true: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble…” (Psalm 46:1) “God has revealed Himself to us in many ways and continues to do so. God has allowed human beings to excel in every area of skill. We must take the best advice of these disciplines which God created and inspired, and through which God works regularly in our lives,” he said. He added: “As Anglicans we encourage our people to continue their devotions at home. God is present everywhere and He will meet us wherever we are when we pray and worship. God will keep us in these extraordinary times as we continue to trust Him and to remain faithful to Him.” Clergy and parishes, Bishop Boyd said, are encouraged to communicate with their parishioners via telephone, social media, and the use of technology, where possible. “This may include contact and prayers, or streaming morning and evening prayer and/or the daily mass. This will ensure that members do not feel cut off, and that clergy and lay leaders do not feel as if they are not paying attention to the flock,” he said. On Sundays, March 22 and 29, he is asking the Diocese to focus on one Eucharist. Bishop Boyd will be preaching from All Saints Chapel, Addington House, on those dates and the service will be broadcast on ZNS and cable television and streamed live on Facebook and the Diocesan webpage. This Sunday, the mass will be aired on ZNS TV at 11am and on Cable TV at 2pm. In the case of weddings, he added, the Church is asking people to reschedule for a later date, or reduce the number of guests attending the wedding to a bare minimum.
BISHOP LAISH BOYD “In other words, until this current crisis passes, have a small and ‘private style’ wedding. In the case of funerals, please seek to have the family postpone the funeral to a later date, or arrange a family only funeral, with social distancing being highlighted,” he said. Bishop Boyd conceded that these measures can be traumatising and highly upsetting, and will require some major adjustments. “However, as Bishop, I must make decisive steps to assist in protecting our flock and in taking steps that will reduce the spread of this virus... The Church also has a responsibility to contribute to national efforts to ensure well-being,” he said. “One thing that we know is the fact that this break in normal church activity and routine, will not harm the Church or
diminish her. In many periods of history, the Church had to go underground, limit her scope of activity and movement, and endure far worse, even persecution and suffering, and the Church has come out stronger and uncompromised. Let this time drive us closer to our God rather than draw us away from each other or from the Church. COVID-19, coronavirus is upsetting and frightening, but scripture challenges us to fear not! This does not mean that we must not or will not be afraid, because fear is a normal human reaction; it is an unpleasant emotion caused by danger or threat. ‘Fear not’ means that we must not be overcome by panic, hysteria and the loss of control. Why? Because God has given us cognition, learning and wisdom to moderate and subject fear, and that is what we must employ in this challenge.” He is asking Anglicans to make use of the following and other prayers: 1. A Prayer for The Presence of Christ Book of Common Prayer (BCP) page 84 #32 “Come to us, Lord Jesus Christ, in your understanding love when all around us seems dark and uncertain, when our faith is low and we cannot feel you near, and we find it hard to pray. Come to us then, dear Lord, as you came to your disciples in the darkest hour of the night, and let the light of your presence dispel our fears, renew our trust, and bring peace to our hearts, for your tender mercies’ sake. Amen.” 2. A Prayer for Strength BCP page 79 #2 “May the strength of God pilot us. May the power of God preserve us. May the wisdom of God instruct us. May the hand of God protect us. May the way of God direct us. May the shield of God defend us. May the host of God guard us against the snares of evil and the temptations of the world. May Christ be with us, Christ before us, Christ in us, Christ over us. May your Salvation, O Lord, be always ours this day and for evermore. Amen.” 3. A Prayer for Courage “Grant to us, O Lord our God, the spirit of courage and hopefulness. Teach
us so to live that we may be enabled to help to face life more bravely. Let no shadows oppress our spirits, least our gloom should darken the light by which others have to live. Say to our souls, ‘Be of good courage; fear not, for I am with thee’; keep us ever strong and joyful in the consciousness of thy presence; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. 4. A Coronavirus Prayer “Jesus Christ, you traveled through towns and villages ‘curing every disease and illness.’ At your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience your healing love. Heal those who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care. Heal us from our fear, which prevents nations from working together and neighbours from helping one another. Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders. Jesus Christ, healer of all, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow. Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at rest with you in your eternal peace. Be with the families of those who are sick or those who have died. As they worry and grieve, defend them from illness and despair. May they know your peace. Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected, and who put themselves at risk in the process. May they know your protection and peace. Be with the leaders of all nations. Give them the foresight to act with charity and true concern for the well-being of the people they are meant to serve. Give them the wisdom to invest in long-term solutions that will help prepare for or prevent future outbreaks. May they know your peace, as they work together to achieve it on earth. Whether we are at home or abroad, surrounded by many people suffering from this illness or only a few, Jesus Christ, stay with us as we endure and mourn, persist and prepare. In place of our anxiety, give us your peace. Lord Jesus Christ, heal us. Amen.”

COPING WITH BETRAYAL BY CARLOS SPENCER
T
HERE are times when we all feel let down or betrayed by others. It normally relates to a violation of trust with someone (a relative, spouse, friend, business partner, colleague, et cetera) who is close to us. Perhaps the most referenced act of betrayal in scripture relates to the betrayal of Jesus by the disciple Judas. Prophecy and God’s plan had to be fulfilled, but this must have been a
RELIGION disappointment to our Lord and Saviour. Matthew 26:14-16 (KJV) tells us: “Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, and said unto them, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.” An important point to note is that the act of betrayal was instigated by Judas, and not the chief priests. It is an unfortunate fact of life that we will experience disappointment from those close to us. People that we love and value will sometimes do the unexpected, and pursue a path that we do not expect or anticipate. The hurt and disappointment that we feel might be so profound and acute that we might never forget the experience. We are human and may change our modus operandi, or make adjustments that are so significant that life is completely altered for all persons concerned. However, our Creator requires us to let go and let God deal with the matter through the intercession of Jesus Christ on our behalf. For believers this is simple enough. For others it becomes more of a challenge to trust in God to remedy our situation… or at least to allow it to become tolerable. Jesus asks that we forgive others when we feel wronged. Matthew 6:1415 (KJV) says: “For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” To reiterate, it may indeed be difficult, and at times near impossible to forget a negative experience, but Jesus requires that we practice forgiveness when we feel betrayed.
People that we love and value will sometimes do the unexpected, and pursue a path that we do not expect or anticipate.
Jesus admonishes us in Mark 11:25 (KJV): “And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” The important principle is that we should seek to be mindful of how we treat others, at all times. Unfortunately this is forgotten all too frequently, or so it appears. Jesus tells us in Matthew 7:12 (KJV): “Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” Despite what we may endure (betrayal or disappointment with others included) we should remember that Jesus understands every weakness we may have because He was tempted in all conceivable ways. However He did not sin and held fast. (Hebrews 4:15) We are told in Hebrews 4:16 (KJV) how to cope in such a situation: “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace, to help in time of need.” Our merciful God will bless our situation and provide relief.
Saint by day, sinner by night TRUE Christianity is an everyday commitment to Jesus, whether in private or in public. But there is a saying that has been true for so many professing to know Jesus as Saviour and Lord, and that is that most Christians are hypocrites, sadly. The only example of Christianity the majority of the unchurched folks will ever see is that of these people. It is imperative that we live what we preach and teach before the general public, and in private! John 1:35: “Again the next day after, John stood, and his two disciples; and looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi (which is to say, master,) where dwellest
thou? He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.” The two disciples of John the Baptist, who eventually joined the Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ, wanted to know more of Christ. They obviously realised that in order to truly genuinely know Jesus in public, they would have to get to know them in private. The Christian lifestyle is to be authentic and transparent for all to observe and see, living in true holiness as required by the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:2: “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men.” The dissection of the church today is getting a very negative result from the world. How is it that a pastor can indulge in extramarital affairs? Or how is it that the praise team leader is a homosexual?

We have conflated the anointing with talent, much to the chagrin of the sincere believers. The incongruent disposition of anyone of us preaching the word, but living a life that this same word we’re preaching condemns, is not good. Your sermon becomes that much more meaningful when you’re living what you’re preaching. The hypocritical lifestyle is too risky, and too difficult to maintain. It’s time for some house cleaning within God’s house, and judgement must begin at the house of God. Holiness is still the standard of God, and should always be our standard as well. It is time to return back to the discarded values of the past that were the bedrock in bygone years. Saint by day? OK. Sinner by night? No! • For questions and comments, e-mail at keithevans242@gmail.com or kenazevans242@gmail.com
Scripture tells us that God is faithful and will bless those who trust in Him. Genesis 12:3 (KJV) tells us “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” None of us are without sin, and we have all “sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) Betrayal or disappointment by those that we hold close is unfortunately part and parcel of life’s various experiences….but it is never a pleasant encounter. David wrote in Psalm 41:9 (KJV) “Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.” However, we should remember our faith and continue to trust in God’s everlasting Word, irrespective of the circumstance. Psalm 46:1 (KJV) tells us “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Romans 8:28 (KJV) sums it all up by reminding us “And we know that all things work together for good….” Amen. Thanks be to God for the sharing of His Word.

THE TRIBUNE (THE CONVERSATION) - The Church of England issued pastoral guidance from the House of Bishops to its clergy on January 23, following the legal introduction of heterosexual civil partnerships in 2019. While the guidance concerns heterosexual civil partners, the document has, controversially, been used by the church to reiterate its position on sexual relationships outside of heterosexual marriage. It states that “sexual relationships outside heterosexual marriage are regarded as falling short of God’s purpose for human beings”. This is squarely in line with the church’s official position on homosexuality, which is that it is “incompatible with scripture”. We have seen recent attempts by liberal members to get the church to take a more inclusive approach towards gender and sexuality, but these have been rebuffed by conservatives. In October 2018, four bishops from the diocese of Oxford published guidance designed “to advise local clergy and congregations in order to support LGBTQ+ people and their families, and to learn from the insights of LGTBQ+ people about being church together”. Several months later, more than a hundred “concerned Anglicans” signed an open letter criticising the guidance. The letter claimed that the attempt at inclusivity by the Oxford bishops actually served to exclude those who “hold to the traditional reading of scripture”. Their response stated: “We cannot see how it is right to accept as Christian leaders those who advocate lifestyles that are not consistent with New Testament teaching.” The letter writers may be referring to New Testament teaching from Paul’s letters in 1 Corinthians 6:9—10 and Romans 1:26-27 which describe how those who are “sexually immoral” will not enter the kingdom of God. This example is one of the many cases where conservative Christians deploy biblical verses to bolster arguments against same-sex marriage, transgender identities, adoption and parenting by LGBTQ+ people. Within the Bible, there are a number of texts which have been used as a weapon against LGBTQ+ people, known as “clobber texts” or “texts of terror”. But using biblical verses in this way is actually an abuse of scripture. It must stop, urgently. Many LGBTQ+ Christians struggle to reconcile their faith with their gender or sexual identities, which can lead to self-harm or suicide. Not the Word of God The Bible is often used as a source of authority, but it is misleading to call it “the word of God”. In fact, Christianity teaches that the word of God is not scripture, it is Jesus Christ. As such, Jesus said nothing explicit about same-sex relationships or transgender people. In the New Testament, it is Paul who teaches about sexual

morality, not Jesus. In 1 Corinthians 6:9 10, he said: “Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practise homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”
While statements like these are cited by conservative Christians to support arguments against the sexual activities and relationships of LGBTQ+ people, it is important to note how Paul himself warns that such use of the Bible is dangerous. In 2 Corinthians 3: 6 Paul writes
Thursday, March 19, 2020 ● PAGE 43 “for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life”. In his provocative book, “The Savage Text: The Use and Abuse of the Bible”, theologian Adrian Thatcher cautions that Christians who mobilise the Bible to argue against the inclusion of others actually commit “bibliolatry” – worshipping the Bible instead of God. Pick n’ mix Bible? Conservative Christians adopt a pick ‘n’ mix approach to scripture, selecting what appeals to suit their prejudices while ignoring other texts. The excerpt from Corinthians, above, lists alongside homosexuals, adulterers, the greedy and drunkards to just name a few. Thankfully, these and other offerings on the biblical buffet, such as divorce, owning slaves, and the role of women in the Church have, to some extent, been sympathetically re-interpreted by the church. The Bible is complicated when it comes to the issue of homosexuality, as it is on many other issues. However, many other activities inconsistent with New Testament teaching don’t share the same airtime in religious discussions. There is no longer much concern, for example, about dressing modestly and inexpensively or getting drunk on wine. Besides, there are many inclusive LGBTQ+ readings of the Bible and interpretations of Christianity that raise new questions and have particular relevance for readers interested in LGBTQ+ issues. One of the yardsticks for measuring how in touch the Church of England is with contemporary life lies in ongoing discussions about the acceptance and inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in the Church. However, the current situation shows the diminishing authority of the Church and the Bible in everyday life in the UK. The Church of England faces a generational crisis, with only two percent of young people identifying with it in the UK. The decline points to how the Church’s current position is seemingly hostile and incompatible with socially liberal views, particularly those towards LGBTQ+ people. - This article is republished from The Conversation, an independent and nonprofit source of news, analysis and commentary from academic experts. Young believers’ faith grows stronger amidst corona chaos BY ALESHA CADET | TRIBUNE FEATURES REPORTER ACADET@TRIBUNEMEDIA.NET
F
OR young believers in Christ, the number one thing that remains constant and true in these uncertain times of the coronavirus outbreak is their unfailing faith in God. “What is keeping me focused right now is meditation and my faith, something I have made a habit as of late and even before this pandemic. I have learned how important it is for my mental health and it is working for me,” said Shaundra Fernander, a young member of the Catholic Church. “Hopefully, for someone reading your article, it can help them as well. The word of God for me is my therapy through my struggles, no matter what they are.” She added: “Our families are always so busy because it is what we have to do to survive. But now we have some time on our hands to come together and quiet down. Whether it is to quiet down in prayer together as a household, or a simply sit down at the dining room table to converse and share our thoughts. Schedules are no longer conflicting. There is a blessing in what seems to be quite a mess right now, and I think it is important to appreciate what really matters, which is God, self and family.” Christie Keli, a life coach and writer, said her goal is to stay calm amongst the panic, fear and frustration. Above all, she wants to encourage fellow Christian
leaders to share their knowledge of the Bible with others. “With everything just shutting down there is no school, parents are overwhelmed and so much is going on... We profess to be believers, children of the most high God, and in order to profess that, we ought to be that, live that and exhibit that. When things like this happen we ought to know whose we are and who we are. I think that we are good at hooting, hollering and praising, but when a crisis hits, even in our personal lives, wherever it may hit, you get to see who is really a believer and who isn’t,” said Christie. “We have not yet gotten to see the tip of the iceberg of what is to come on earth and we are already seeing people panicking, people who are within the body of Christ. I think it is high time that we have voices that will speak out to encourage the body of Christ to just reposition, realign yourself, understand and know the power that you possess as a child of God. Remember what the word of God says, and remember that these things were spoken of long in ancient days. We heard it growing up in church; the world is continuously evolving and the Bible speaks of these times; our peace never came from the world, but from our creator.” Meanwhile, Sekina Johnson said she is taking advantage of the internet, to not only stay informed, but to also catch up
on sermons from her favourite televised pastors. “I just feel like, on a regular basis... people utilise social media for the wrong reasons. Now is the time to utilise it for all that is right. Above all, it should be used to keep the uninformed educated, and to keep up-to-date as to what is happening globally. But apart from that, we believers can utilise social media to stay connected with spiritual persons from all over the world. Those sermons you have missed because you simply don’t keep up-to-date online, you can now sit down and do that now,” said Sekina.
...Encourage the body of Christ to just reposition, realign yourself, understand and know the power that you possess as a child of God. “I always enjoyed a good Joel Osteen on a Sunday before getting ready for church, so right now what I am doing is catching up on all of his online sermons, as many as I can. I have the time to now and it is always so uplifting; there is a message for everyone. Just this morning I caught up on a message from Bishop
TD Jakes via his TD Jakes Ministries Facebook page. He spoke in a message regarding ‘Christ and the Coronavirus’. Instead of following the fake news that people can get caught up in, these are the pages persons should click the ‘follow’ button on; it is so important.” In a newsletter, local motivational speaker and entrepreneur Sherika Brown encouraged people to not throw away their confidence in God and to keep believing. “In moments of uncertainty concerning the future and days ahead it is so very easy to allow fear, doubt and distrust in God to kick in. So many of us have professed our faith in God, believing in His power, goodness and His faithfulness. Yet in the difficult and questionable seasons, like now, we may even be tempted to question His reality and even His ability. During these moments of concern I want to encourage you to not give more attention to the challenges before you than the God who has stood with you in times past and who will continue to stand with you. If you can only believe in the character of God in the good times your faith in Him in this moment will be futile. The true evidence of our faith in the God we claim to know and believe is always revealed in these kind of uncertain seasons. It will actually be demonstrated now,” she said.
