Overcoming a spiritual drought
By JEFFARAH GIBSON Tribune Features Writer
jgibson@tribunemedia.net
THERE are times in every area of life where people seem to hit a stonewall or reach a stalemate.
For instance, a person may begin an exercise regimen and because of their consistency they experience great results. If that same person though, keeps on with the same regimen, performing their exercises at the same time without having ever increased their intensity, or challenge their muscles, they are likely to reach a plateau and not see any results. Their muscles have become accustomed to the
Reaping The Harvest Crusade
LIFE Changers Ministries
International held its reaping the Harvest Crusade and Water Baptism, winning new souls for Christ. The Crusade, which took place at RM Bailey Park on September 25-27, attracted people from a number of communities throughout New Providence. They came together for three days of worship and praise, with hundreds turning out. Bishop Valentino Williams then led the Water Baptism at Goodman's Bay on Sunday, September 28. He was joined by Pastor Alex Davis and Minister Ricardo Davis. It included an entire family of five who have their lives to Christ.
exercise so growth can no longer take place.
Some Christians when it comes to their spiritual lives have reached a plateau - they have come to a place where their faith is stagnant and nothing they do seems to get them out of the rut.
Tribune Religion spoke to several Christian faithfuls who shared what they do when their faith and spiritual life seems at a standstill.
Miriam Williams said she has been at this place several times over in her life. And the key to overcoming is simple - prayer.
“Everything about the Christian experience starts and ends
with prayer,” she told Tribune Religion.
“When you feel like no growth is happening in you, because that is what being a Christian is all about, seeing yourself change into the character of who Christ Jesus is. So you have Christians who have been practicing this life for such a long time but haven’t seen any real change. They need to first of all seek God in prayer and ask him to refresh and reenergise them spiritually,” she said.
As for Denisha Missick recommitting to the spiritual walk is always what works.
“Like married couples renew their vows, sometimes renewing
our vows to God can help to refocus us. Sometimes that is all that it takes.
“Truth is life happens and we tend to get distracted by all that is going on. So though we have been Christians for years, sometimes throughout life we tend to forget that we really have to follow him daily and seek him every day. When we are not we feel like we are not growing as we should. We feel very distant from God."
Natalie said studying the word daily can kick the plateau to the curb.
“This Christian journey is a relationship. Just like you would not neglect your spouse or you
would chat with friends and family everyday that is how it should be with God. People tend to reach a stall because they are not studying God’s word enough, they are not meditating, they are not getting in his presence. You can no expect to keep growing if you don’t keep eating your spiritual food,” she said.
Simon Jones had this piece of advice: “You have to make God a priority. Yes you may be have been saved for such a long time but if God isn’t a priority daily then you will see no growth or change in the areas of life where you need it,” he said

Mentoring with a mission
By ALESHA CADET Tribune Features Reporter acadet@tribunemedia.net
RICARDO Clarke is a man of many talents - a certified professional coach, motivational speaker, human resources consultant, recording artist, and ordained minister—but perhaps his most profound impact has been through his role as a mentor.
With a passion for shaping both character and career paths, Dr Clarke Occupy Mentorship Programme has helped mould the lives of over 100 young individuals, guiding them toward personal and professional excellence.
Recently, Dr Clarke hosted a transformative leadership training seminar that brought together emerging leaders to focus on enhancing leadership excellence and fostering empathetic engagement.
The event, held at Believers Embassy International, aimed at strengthening interpersonal skills and highlighted the critical role of collaboration in effective leadership. Attendees were not only able to learn from his extensive experience but also had the opportunity
to engage in meaningful dialogue during the Q&A sessions, further emphasising his commitment to personal growth and development.
“Pastor Stephen Munroe is the senior pastor (of Believers Embassy International), and 50 plus leaders were in attendance,” said Dr Clarke.
He said Pastor Stephen and Lady Munroe are dedicated leaders who are driving meaningful change in the local communities. Dr Clarke said he was honoured to have been invited to address their team, who from his assessment are ready to offer themselves for greater organisational engagement and community service.
In addition to his recent work with church leaders, Dr Clarke has also resumed his mentorship
programme with schools, focusing on developing programs that foster student leadership and enhance interpersonal skills.
“In preparation for the semester, I have completed certificate courses in emotional intelligence from Yale University and the University of Michigan, further enriching his expertise in leadership and educational development.
“I have also been invited to speak and collaborate with several organisations. Notably, I will be a guest speaker at the Caribbean Regional Compliance Association conference in St Martin on Tuesday, October 17, where I will share on
the topic ‘raise your emotional intelligence’,“ said Dr Clarke. He said there will be up to 200 delegates from seven countries in attendance.
With years of experience in leadership training and organisational development, Dr Clarke said he is is dedicated to helping individuals and organisations reach their full potential.
