Advent-themed gospel event welcomes anyone in need of prayers By ALESHA CADET Tribune Features Writer acadet@tribunemedia.net

T

he music collective known as One Cry will present its third annual holiday event under the theme "Emmanuel: An Advent Prayer and Worship Encounter” at the Church of God Life Transformation Centre on Friday, December 1, beginning at 7 pm. Founded by gospel artist Stermon Rolle, the event was established three years ago with the aim to create a sacred space for individuals of all ages to unite in worship and lift their petitions to the Lord. Mr Rolle said this Advent-themed installment promises to be a night of breakthrough in prayer; attendees will be encouraged to refocus their hearts and place

themselves in God's presence. "At One Cry, our slogan is ‘One Sound With Many Expressions – the Sound of the Redeemed’, emphasising that, regardless of individual worship styles, we all serve one God. As His children, we have a collective responsibility to give Him the worship, praise and adoration that He deserves,” he said. Mr Rolle said Friday’s event welcomes anyone in need of prayer. He believes coming together invokes the presence of God and invites answers and responses from heaven. Speakers at the event include Pastor Oslien Jadorte, Antonia Lightbourne, A'Lethia Sweeting, DéVaughn Rolle, Sabrena Green, and Mr Rolle himself. “The scripture focus for this year's event is Isaiah 9:6: ‘For unto us a Child

is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace’,” said Mr Rolle. He is encouraging readers to connect with One Cry on Facebook or via stermonrolle@gmail.com for more information. The event extends an invitation to church youth groups, worship teams, musicians, and individuals seeking a space to recharge this Advent season. Donations are also welcome to support the ministry's ongoing work. “Join One Cry on December 1 at 7pm for an unforgettable night of worship, prayer, and divine encounters,” said Mr Rolle.

‘A ministry on the move, one meal at a time’ By FELICITY DARVILLE

H

undreds of residents and friends in the Englerston community benefited from the joy of giving at Life Changers Ministries International’s Thanksgiving Day event. A brightly decorated truck pulled up at the Englerston Community Park on the morning of Thursday, November 23, for the launch of the City Eats Outrevach Ministry. A free thanksgiving meal was given to hundreds of people between 11am and 1pm that day. A praise and worship session led by LCMI ensued. It was at the beginning of 2023 that Bishop Valentino Williams said he first had the idea to purchase this mobile food truck and to go into various communities to provide residents with sustenance and be a blessing to those in need. Residents from the immediate community as well people who were just passing by stopped by to receive a free thanksgiving meal and beverage. The event turned into more than just an outreach to feed those in need, as many of the pastors and

ministers of Life Changers Ministries were in the park praying and encouraging residents while they waited to be served. At the end of the day, 400 meals had been served. "Outreach is a big part of what we do at Life changers,” said Bishop Williams, “and this is just the first of many more to come. City Eats is a ministry on the move, one meal at a time.” Bishop Williams and his wife, Evangelist Cleopatra Williams, led the team of pastors, administrators and church members who served food and witnessed to the hundreds of people who were blessed by the new City Eats Outreach Ministry. Life Changers Ministries held a Global Faith Conference this past October at its church on Bacardi Road. The theme for the conference was "Faith for the Impossible.” Attendees experienced a spiritual awakening as local and international speakers brought the word of God, while praise and worship sessions helped to lift the spirits so that all who attended received a blessing to finish 2023 strong in the Lord.
