Devotional offers "Help!"

IN penning a new devotional, Bahamian author Monique Romer hopes to encourage readers to turn to God’s help in time of trouble and distress.

The new devotional entitled “Help! Cries of the Heart she said will inspired Christians to “search your heart, mind, and soul with all truth”. The book is expected to be released on December 10.

She said: “My inspiration for this book was born during COVID-19, a time when it felt like our whole world had come to a standstill. For the first time, we realised how precious life is and that it should never be taken for granted. It was a dark time in the world, people were dying all around us, hope seemed lost, and life felt overwhelmingly heavy. During this dark time, I found myself giving thanks and praise to my Heavenly Father, because I knew He was in control. But how do those who don’t know Him be comforted? The need for the Gospel was evident. How do I share the comfort I experience with those who do not Him."

The devotional is also meant to be an evangelical tool, sharing about the Gospel of Jesus Christ while also demonstrate how to live life practically.

“We all have flaws and sin; it is in our weaknesses that God's strength is made perfect. We have choices in life, and what truly matters is how we respond to those choices. Through our

challenges, God always provides a way of escape if we are willing to confess, submit, and surrender to Him. God has given us the gift of His only Son, Jesus Christ, and He has also granted us the free will to choose; may we choose wisely.

“Jesus offers us peace in uncertain times, beauty for ashes, blessings, provision, protection, joy that conquers all setbacks, and love that overcomes fear and pain. I have come to understand that we all have the DNA of our Heavenly Father living within us. Although we may occasionally fall from grace through sin, we can always confess and ask for His forgiveness and turn away from sin. It is only when we ask, seek, and knock that we can trust, wait, obey, and surrender to His will, allowing Him to work all things for our good and His glory,” she said.

The book explores how to experience God's love in every situation we encounter in life, emphasizing that the answer is found in the truth of God's Word. It teaches readers how to navigate difficult times and guides in excelling in sharing the good news of the gospel with others.

“Salvation is individual, but Christianity is a community. As

Christians, let us strive to display the life of Christ to all who may desire the same hope we have in Him. We should always pray for all saints as a source of encouragement and for sinners to be brought to salvation. I may not always get it right, but living with a renewed mind in Christ Jesus will bring about change not only in ourselves but also in the lives of others.”

Some of the themes the author addresses in book include listening to one’s heart, mending broken hearts, beauty for ashes, feeling at peace in

uncertain times, diffusion anger and greed.

It is important to share the specific themes in the book. We need to address our inner desires and issues, find real solutions for our physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being, and restore good health. Additionally, we must love our neighbors as ourselves.

She said: “As believers in Christ, we are His creation, designed for good works that God has prepared for us. Jesus emphasises this in the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:29–37). The question

is: How many of us truly love ourselves?”

Monique was born in Nassau. She is the 13th of 15 children. She accepted the Lord as her personal Saviour at the age of 18. Her desire to serve the Lord became the most important thing in her life. To see love ones come to know Jesus Christ as a result of her love for the Lord has inspired her to share her faith through devotionals and songs. Monique loves to read and study her Bible. She understands that it is important for spiritual growth and keeping in the will of God.
