LOCATION

A great place to call home.

Scranton is the sixth-largest city in Pennsylvania and a vibrant college town, home to five colleges and universities. Known as the Electric City — we were the first U.S. city to have an electric-powered streetcar — Scranton today finds its energy from many other sources, namely our popular coffeehouses, eateries, festivals, minorleague sports teams and a well-known Office, Dunder Mifflin. Downtown is a short walk from campus with access to:

STUDENT SERVICES & RESOURCES

A welcoming community.

At The University of Scranton, while receiving an excellent education, you will be able to immerse yourself in the American culture, finding a place to call your home away from home.

OFFICE OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENT & SCHOLAR SERVICES

We support international students, scholars, and their dependents as they adjust to life in the United States. Through a variety of programs and initiatives, we are like a second home to students and scholars seeking a meaningful learning experience at Scranton. Starting with orientation for international students and continuing to graduation, we are here to answer your questions and help you with everything from visa applications to complimentary pick-up service at Scranton’s airport or bus terminal.

OTHER CAMPUS SUPPORT SERVICES

The Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE) provides all students with tutoring and coaching, reading services, a writing center and support for students with disabilities. Academic advisors in each of the three colleges help students to plan their schedules and paths to success.

GET INVOLVED

Our International Student Club (ISC) makes it easy to get involved! International students engage in various activities such as whitewater rafting, attending sporting events, participating in workshops and exploring natural wonders like Niagara Falls and major cities like New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.

Through ISC meetings and the Cultural Exchange Program, international students can discuss their culture and gain awareness of other cultures. During holidays and breaks, students are offered hospitality by faculty and staff as part of our International Friendship Program.

LIVING IN SCRANTON

Scranton guarantees four consecutive years of housing for all undergraduate students, including international students. Undergraduates are required to live on campus for their first two years. We also offer newly renovated graduate apartments, filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Numerous private housing opportunities are available to international students and their families in walking distance to campus.

WE CARE ABOUT YOUR SAFETY

Both the University and surrounding city are safe, and we are committed to keeping it that way. We are one of only six private colleges in Pennsylvania with an accredited campus police force, and we enhance security with more than 150 security cameras on and around campus.
