Hail to the Interns!

On February 21st, BAP, SAS, and IMA held their Annual Internship Panel where panelists informed club members about their various internship experiences in accounting and finance fields.

Daniella Rodriguez:

Daniella is a senior BAP member majoring in accounting, who will be pursuing her Master’s in Accountancy (MAcc) in forensic accounting next year. Last summer and throughout the current academic year, Daniella has been interning in Wiss’s CFO Advisory service line, and absolutely loves it. She has mainly focused on Employer Retention Credit (ERC) work, which is a tax credit given to small and midsize businesses who have suffered through partial or full suspensions during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

During the panel, Daniella said that this was an extremely rewarding experience for her to help small businesses in need. She also compared the Wiss culture to Scranton’s culture indicating the similarities in the organization's core values.

This summer, she will be an assurance intern at KPMG and is looking forward to seeing their beautiful new training campus in Orlando, FL.

Emma Boyle:

Emma is a senior BAP member majoring in accounting with minors in forensic accounting, business analytics, business leadership, and sports communication. She is also in the Business Leadership Honors program. Next year, she will be pursuing her MAcc in accounting analytics.

Emma is the President of the IMA, co-Founder and co-President of the CURA Consulting Club, and Past President of BAP and SAS. Through her role in CURA, Emma helps local small businesses and non-for-profits, and currently has been heavily involved in a merger and acquisition engagement between the Scranton Chamber of Commerce and the Carbondale Technology Transfer Center.

During her freshman and sophomore years, Emma interned in both sales and accounting for the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders. Lastsummer, she had an assurance internship with Deloitte in Philadelphia. On the panel, Emma elaborated on how much she loved her time at Deloitte and enjoyed being around so many Scranton alumni.

She even had the opportunity to sit in on an earnings call with shareholders and creditors of an assurance client. Finally, Emma has been working as a part-time consultant for Neumentum,Inc.,which is a growing pharmaceutical company. In this role, she frequently works with Scranton alumnus and “Hall of Famer” Taggart McGurrin and is able to learn many skills from him.

Tom Csehovics:

Tom is a senior finance major with minors in business leadership and accounting. He is also in the Business Leadership Program. His leadership experiences on campus include being the co–President of PRISM, and the Treasurer of the CURA ConsultingClub. His main interest is in the banking and asset management sectors.

In the summer of his sophomore year, he interned with Summit Financial, working primarily in their Private Wealth Management service line. He then had a Private Asset Advisory and Valuation internship with PWC in Winter 2022.

Tom got to work on alot of due diligence and valuation engagements that prepared him for his career. His most recent internship was with MetLife Investment Management where he worked in their Fixed Income Investments service line. Tom liked it so much that he accepted a full-time offer at MetLife post graduation.

During the panel, Tom said that the culture at most finance firms is less than ideal, but at MetLife it was surprisingly pleasant and welcoming. Tom was able to connect and network with anyone in the organization, no matter their service line or position.

Annalisa Mechanick:

Annalisa is a senior BAP member majoring in accounting with a minor in philosophy. She is also in the Business Honors Program. She will be pursuing her MAcc next year. She is currently a Resident Assistant, Campus Tour Guide, and the IMA Treasurer/Social Media Coordinator.

Last summer, she completed an assurance internship in NYC with FORVIS. On the panel, Annalisa indicated that she learned so much during her internship, and that the firm culture and people made the experiences enjoyable. Next summer, Annalisa will be interning at KPMG in assurance services to gain Big Four experience.
