The University of Scranton
The Difference: Our Exceptional Faculty At The University of Scranton, we take great pride in the depth of talent, experience and involvement that our professors bring to our programs. Our graduate faculty are widely recognized experts. They bring immense knowledge, possessing the highest degrees in their field. They also bring a wealth of experience as accomplished practitioners, top-notch researchers and widely published authors. It is this knowledge, made real by industry experience, that enriches the discussions and learning in all of our graduate classrooms. Our faculty’s influence reaches beyond the classroom as well. Teaching in a smaller, more personalized setting, faculty serve as close mentors to our students. They work one-on-one with students, offering academic planning and invaluable professional guidance. They collaborate with students as colleagues in research, often resulting in shared presentations at national conferences. These close, mentoring relationships are built early on at The University of Scranton, and they remain strong long into our graduates’ careers.
The Values of a Jesuit Education
“The faculty offer excellent commentary as well as unwavering support. I could not have asked for better leaders for my learning experience.”
A graduate education grounded in Jesuit values brings an appreciation for diversity and inclusiveness, helping you to better understand and relate to all types of people. Integrity, critical thinking and leadership—these are central to our Jesuit tradition and to the personal and professional preparation of every Scranton graduate student.
Jonathan Nubbemeyer ’22, G’23 Security Analyst, Thomas Jefferson University

Cura Personalis: Supporting the Unique You A hallmark of our Jesuit education is our core value of cura personalis—a respect for the uniqueness of each person. It’s why, from the day you apply to the day you graduate, we look at you as a valued individual, recognizing your own distinct needs and responsibilities, and meeting you where you are in your education and life. Our support begins at the application stage as we help guide you through each step of the admissions process. Then, once you are enrolled, you’re assigned a faculty mentor who will work closely with you, developing an overall understanding of your goals and assisting you throughout your program with career guidance, course planning, class registration and more. Your program’s college is also ready to assist you, with a fully staffed advising center to help with any academic needs. And lastly, our University’s Center for Teaching Excellence and Office of Student Support & Success offer a range of helpful services to ensure your success, including study skills, writing support, tutoring and more.
“The true measure and value of an education lies in the students – who they become and what they do with that knowledge. I’ve grown personally and professionally with my spirit grounded in reflection and Ignatian values to impact my patients and the future of healthcare.” Maria Almodovar, ’20, DPT ’23 Staff Physical Therapist, North Shore University Hospital

Welcome to Scranton, PA Our 58-acre campus is located in the heart of Scranton, a community of 75,000 within a greater metropolitan area of 750,000 people. Nicknamed “The Electric City”—we were the first U.S. city to have an electric-powered streetcar—Scranton today finds its energy from many other sources, namely wonderful downtown architecture, popular coffeehouses, great restaurants, festivals, minor-league sports teams, and a well-known Office, Dunder Mifflin. The city of Scranton is located in beautiful Northeast Pennsylvania, with year-round outdoor activities and sports, including Montage Mountain Ski Resort, Nay Aug Park, Lackawanna Heritage Valley Trail, Lake Scranton, and more. Many of our students love that they can walk to some of these locations, and many others are just a short drive from campus.
