Welcome to the University of Winchester Undergraduate Open Day! This programme will contain all the information you need to help you get around our campus and make the most out of your time with us today. Registration First things first, please make sure you register as soon as you arrive. Staff members and Student Ambassadors will be stationed and walking around campus with iPads, ready to scan your QR code and help you register. Once you’ve registered, make sure to collect your very own University of Winchester goodie bag, complete with prospectus, programme, and freebies. Registration points can be found outside Main Reception on King Alfred Quarter (Number 12 on your map), The Stripe Plaza (Number 25 on your map), and West Downs Centre (Number 28 on your map).

Music, Film and TV Courses If you would like to view facilities such as our Sound Studios, Newsroom, and Multi-Media Centre, please head to Bowers Building (Number 3 on your map)
Physiotherapy Physiotherapy facilities are based on the High Street. We will be running tours at the High Street Building from 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, and 2.30pm. Please head to outside the Chapel (Number 6 on your map) at these designated times to meet one of our Course Champions, who will walk you down to the High Street Building (approximately a 15 minute walk) and give you a tour. If you have any accessible needs, please head to the Course Champion, and they will direct you to our Accessible Taxi.

Parents and Carers Lounge and Personal Statement Lounge Stripe Lecture Room (Number 25 on your map) A space for all parents, carers, guardians, and family who are supporting someone through university. Members of our Schools and Colleges team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. In the reminder email you would have received on Friday 8 October, you would have received a link to our recorded Personal Statement Talk, which gives you advice on UCAS and how best to write a personal statement. If you have any questions on the Open Day, please do head to the Stripe Lecture Room.
Self-Guided Campus Tours Keeping in line with Covid guidance, we are currently running self-guided Campus Tours. The suggested loop around campus can be found on the map in your University of Winchester goodie bag. Feel free to start anywhere on the loop, look out for our yellow directional signage, and do ask our Student Ambassadors if you need directions.
Student Union Whilst on your tour, make sure to stop by Winchester Student Union (Number 12 on your map) and speak to one of the SU team! The SU is a membership organisation run for and by the student population of the University of Winchester and exists to represent all students at the University. The SU runs events, sports teams, and societies, and is a one-stop shop for advice and support.
Accommodation To enter University accommodation, we must ask that you provide proof of a negative lateral flow test to the steward at the accommodation block (as detailed in the reminder email). Our current students are now back on campus and living in accommodation, so we ask for this extra level for their safety and yours. To view accommodation, simply follow the map toward the accommodation of your choice. There will be staff and Student Ambassadors there to greet you, and current students will be ready to show you their homes. Burma Road Student Village Number 4 on your map Burma Road consists of 408 en-suite rooms arranged in flats of six to eight with shared kitchens. We also have two one-bedroom family flats, and six bedrooms (and kitchens) adapted for wheelchair users. Queens Road Student Village Number 18 on your map This is a purpose-built residential development, consisting of 399 en-suite rooms arranged in flats of three to nine rooms with shared kitchens. West Downs Student Village Number 29 on your map Located behind the Winchester Business School and our new West Downs Centre, there are over 650 bedrooms in houses of six to ten rooms. There is a mixture of en-suite and shared facility.
St Elizabeth’s Hall and Beech Glade (Number 21 and 2 on your map) Each hall is a traditional hall of residence set up with rooms arranged along communal corridors with shared bathrooms and kitchenettes at various points. Many rooms boast beautiful views across Winchester and the South Downs, and all rooms are larger than average single study bedrooms. Cathedral Point and Riverside Way Not available to view this Open Day Both areas are off-site and comprise of approximately 250 en-suite rooms, arranged in flats of between six to eight students, as well as 61 studio flats. There is also a large communal space for all residents to use, and the management team often arrange a wide variety of social events to include all residents. These halls have six study bedrooms (two adapted kitchens) for students with disabilities, and we also have some one- and two-bedroom family flats.

We have Refreshment and Catering areas open in both King Alfred Quarter and West Downs Quarter. Vegan options can be found at all outlets. The University of Winchester is also a Food Allergy Aware campus. Learning Café King Alfred Centre, 7.30am-2.30pm (Number 12 on your map) Perfect for light-bites, sandwiches, coffees, and milkshakes. Cyber Italia Kenneth Kettle Building, 10am-8pm (Number 11 on your map) Part-internet café, part pizzeria! Cyber Italia is a great place to grab a coffee or a fresh slice of pizza.
West Downs Quarter Level 1 Food Court West Downs Centre, 8am-3pm (Number 28 on your map) Our main food court for West Downs Centre, serving a variety of dishes and drinks
Walking into Winchester When you have finished your day here at the University of Winchester, why don’t you head down to the city centre? It is approximately a 15 minute walk away from King Alfred Quarter and boasts a whole array of eateries, shops and history.
Whilst King Alfred Quarter and West Downs Quarter are within a short walking distance of each other, we are offering a Shuttle Bus between Quarters for those who have access requirements or just don’t fancy walking up the hill! The Shuttle Bus will be picking up and dropping off outside Main Reception on King Alfred Quarter (Number 12 on your map), outside Queens Road Student Village (Number 18 on your map), and in the coach bay at West Downs Quarter (Number 28 on your map). Look out for the signs saying Shuttle Stop. If you are arriving by train, we have a shuttle bus service from the Station (outside Platform 2) between 8.30am and 11am which can drop you at either our West Downs Quarter or King Alfred Quarter
Accessible Taxi For anyone with additional access requirements such as a wheelchair, we have a free Accessible Taxi on hand. This departs from outside Main Reception on King Alfred Quarter (Number 12 on your map) and can take you to West Downs Quarter or the City Centre. If you are looking to come from West Downs Quarter to King Alfred Quarter, please call our Reception Team on 01962 841515 and they will send the accessible taxi to you. The Accessible Taxi can also drop you off in the City Centre at the end of your visit!
