“There are no qualifications to being feminine. Anything a woman does is feminine. It doesn’t matter what you look like.” - Tahnee Atkinson
This culture has a particular story about women and what that’s supposed to look like. If you don’t fit into that narrative then it’s a struggle, no matter what end of the spectrum you land on. This is one of the reasons why Be You is helpful in that it widens space that women can take up. No matter what your version of femininity looks like it’s fierce and brave as hell and that’s the element Be You is honouring and celebrating. It speaks volumes that THE UPSIDE would include a female male model to be representative of femininity. It’s been an honour and I’m thrilled. - Legler
“To me, femininity is something within - inside us. - Tahnee
“I definitely went through my own process of figuring out and sorting out how my insides and my outsides matched up. - Legler
“The upside to being me is that I’ve had the privilege of a really challenging, exciting, difficult life. I’m really grateful for all these things because they have made me who I am today.” - Legler
“I feel fortunate to be able to embrace my figure, however I am highly aware of the pressures we put on women, especially young girls and so I was so excited to return to Australia for THE UPSIDE’s Be You campaign. To be part of something positive that celebrates diversity was such a privilege,” said Atkinson.
