Planned giving at The Ursuline School
“This quote by St. Angela sums up for me the benefits of an Ursuline education. As a student at Ursuline
“Strive to be faithful to that which God has called you.” - Saint Angela Merici
during the 1980s I was fortunate to be able to engage with many Ursulines. They served as tremendous role models for me. They were confident and competent women of faith who were cultivating and empowering the young girls in their care to follow their lead. I have also experienced the great blessing of watching my daughter attend Ursuline. Like the Ursulines themselves, the school has kept pace with the times. In many ways, my daughter’s experience at Ursuline was entirely different from my own: the technology, facilities, teaching methods, curriculum and focus on the charism of St. Angela have all evolved. In other ways, our experience was remarkably similar: the traditions, the emphasis on Serviam and the daily empowerment of young women have not changed. I joined the Legacy Society to preserve the future of education in the spirit of St. Angela.”

Planned Giving at The Ursuline School “The Ursuline School has changed considerably since the Class of ‘62 heard “Pomp and Circumstance.” But isn’t that fabulous? A robust student body now eagerly pursues STEAM and global studies, and thrives on the development of visual and other creative arts, all which integrate technology and design — yet they are challenged by the humanities, encouraged to question and to learn from each other as we were. When I ran for public office in eight contested Eastchester elections against all male opponents who represented the majority political party, it was the self-confidence nurtured in the “girls only” Ursuline classrooms that propelled me. And, it was the meaning of Serviam that was a guidepost for my public service experience over the 15 years as Eastchester Town Clerk and the 11 years as steward of Westchester’s Archives and Records. Ursuline education is the gift that keeps giving to me. Now it is my time to remember that and make appropriate plans to ensure that the legacy continues.” —Patty Niles Dohrenwend ‘62

“I choose to support the places and experiences that have been invaluable to my life. Ursuline gave me such a gift. Sustaining these experiences for other young women to benefit from the curriculum, athletics and global opportunities at Ursuline to become tomorrow’s leaders is so important to me.” — Liz Healy ‘94 Global Business Services Partner IBM Corporation
