Tandem with the University of MĂźnster (Germany)
Practice and learn German in exchange for English
Do you want to practice or learn German, while also getting a unique insight into German language and culture? Can you help another student with English? If the answer to both questions is YES, then tandem is for you
German/ English Tandem Learning can offer help in making the most of the International dimension of the University. By becoming partners with someone who speaks German, you will take responsibility for your own learning, and by doing so you will be able to discover another culture and another language. We believe this will help you look at the world with different eyes.

What is Tandem Learning? In Tandem Learning, you work together with a language learning partner who is either from another country or simply speaks the language that you wish to learn. Using email, social media, telephone and by meeting face to face you learn his or her language while he or she learns another language from you. Teachers will be able to help you as well, supporting you all the way.
Work in tandem Every student will be responsible for their own learning process. • It is very important to set up specific timing for each tandem language session. • It is not expected that students behave as teachers. For example, they shouldn’t have to explain difficult points of grammar. As a native or proficient speaker of the language, you have the ability to know if a phrase is correct or not, allowing you to help your partner improve the language skills. • Correction of mistakes should take place, but we need to be careful about this, as we cannot be correcting each other constantly.
Tasks Tasks are the starting point for developing different topics. You can get many ideas to talk about from http://seagull-tandem.eu/links/ . The last 5 minutes should be used to review the notes taken by you, and answer any questions from your partner.
Pronunciation A Tandem language partnership is ideal for improving pronunciation, especially because it offers the opportunity to check whether a native speaker or proficient speaker, can understand you or not.
