ECOT honor roll The Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow (ECOT) announced that 1,374 students were named to the school’s latest “Honor Roll” or “Honor Roll with Distinction.” Students ending each quarter with a 3.0-3.499 GPA for that previous semester are named “Honor Roll” and students with a GPA of 3.5 or above will be named “Honor Roll with Distinction.” Among the 724 students named to the “Honor Roll,” Zackary Craig of Boardman made the list.

W FMJ’s Madonna Chism Pinkard paid a visit to the fourthgrade students at Robinwood Lane Elementary on Feb. 6 to talk about Black History Month. The students have been learning about Black History Month in class and having a special guests come in got them even more intrigued. Pinkard spoke to the students about Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, Jr and how they worked hard to make a change. Fourth-grade teacher Jan Zorman was one of Pinkard’s teachers and Pinkard loves to come back to the school whenever Zorman invites her. Pinkard has visited before for Black History Month and for other events the students are participating in. The children sat a round Pinkard as she talked about Martin Luther King, Jr, Rosa Parks and other important factors of Black History Month. Students raised their hands and asked questions or added comments they had for Pinkard. One student was especially vocal during Pinkard’s visit.

The second annual Go Baby Go build took place at the Mahoning County Career and Technica l Center, w ith si x teams of students and professionals modifying ride-on cars for six children on Jan. 21. Go Baby Go is a program which provides modified rideon cars for young children with disabilities. Dr. Cole Gallaway PT, PhD, an associate professor at the University of Delaware, founded this program. As there are only a few commercially available devices to promote mobility in young children, modified ride-on cars can facilitate a child’s independence at a much younger age, and at a relatively low cost. This nationally-known program is specifically for young children, 0-5 years of age, with mobility impairments. Children who have difficulty moving on their own may have an underlying medical diagnosis including cerebral palsy, down syndrome or spina bifida. Every car is tailored to each child’s specific needs to improve and enhance a child’s independence and provide a way for that child

Gamblers Anonymous, a 12Step fellowship of compulsive gamblers who want to recover from their gambling addictions, will meet twice this week in the Youngstown-Warren area. Greenbriar Healthcare to have chili cook-off In celebration of Heart Month and the Go Red For Women campaign, Greenbriar Healthcare Center and The Commons Assisted Living will host its first chili cook-off on Feb. 28 from 4-6 p.m. The public is invited to participate in this brand new tradition for Greenbriar and The Commons. They will be hosting this event at The Orange Spot Bistro, located at the entrance of Greenbriar Healthcare Center, 8064 South Avenue in Boardman. The proceeds from the chili

Cap w a s a se c ret a r y for Youngstown City Schools and retired July 1, 2007. She also worked part time at St. Charles Borromeo Church rectory for seven years. Mr. Cap worked as a tool maker for stown for 25 years. He retired Jan. 1, Sheet and Tube in Campbell for 19 2007. He served in the U.S. Marine years and for General Motors in Lord- Corps from 1957 to 1959.

Addison Nolting, niece of the bride, was the flower girl. The attendants wore cabernet-colored lace dresses. The best man was Donald Pipino, and the groomsmen were Matthew Ramsbottom, Dominic Marchionda, Michael Rich, DJ Farrell, Matthew Michael, William Lee and Dan Polkovitch, a cousin of the groom. A cousin of the groom, Griffin Harman, was the ring bearer.

Mrs. Kozlow graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in communications. She is an account manager for LinkedIn in Chicago. Mr. Kozlow graduated from Miami University with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. He is pursuing a master’s degree in business at Duke University. The couple traveled to Belize for their wedding trip and reside in Durham, N.C.
