ou’re think ing of selling your home but you know that it looks lived in or how about just plain tired.
The way you live in your house is not the way you will be living when your house is for sale. Everyone has some clutter! In the kitchen for example, there are appliances on counter tops, and don’t forget the refrigerator magnets. How about that bathroom? I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have toothbrushes and toothpaste on their vanity or a bar of soap in the soap dish. It’s just reality. Here are some simple suggestions to help get CLINE you from “Just Listed” to “SOLD” in no time. • First, clean your windows because we want the sunshine in. Natural light does so much for the presentation of your home. Take down draperies and open up the blinds. Have you ever looked at a home in the dark and then went back for a second showing in daylight? What a difference. • Second, turn on your lights. Yes, every light in your home should be on and each room should look bright and spacious. If your house is being shown in the evening, have the lights on when your buy-
ers arrive. Dark and dreary rooms won’t leave buyers with a good feeling and we want them excited about your beautiful home. • Third, take down the family photos. You want the buyers to picture themselves in your home not focus on your family that is living there. Replace the pictures with some neutral wall art. I’m not telling you that you need to buy artwork, but pick up some pictures and mirrors from a local store. Mirrors make rooms seem bigger too. That will help the buyers feel comfortable about looking at the home and allow them to see their family living there. • Fourth, your kitchen and bathroom need a little makeover. Yes, everyone loves granite in the kitchen but realistically you don’t need to change your countertops. There are some small changes that make a huge difference and are inexpensive to do. For example, changing hardware on your cabinets, installing some new updated light fixtures, (be sure to change all your lightbulbs so they work), and maybe a new faucet to match will create a modern look and feel. CENTURY 21 Lakeside agent beats cancer Special to The Vindicator
CENTURY 21 Lakeside agent Renee Zuzan is an inspiration to all who know her. She achieved a CENTURY 21 Lakeside top ten agent award this year while battling a very aggressive form of breast cancer. Zuzan was setting yearly goals and exceeding them. In 2016, she found a lump in her breast. Two types of cancer had invaded her body. Her spirit, determination, and love for her family and friends helped her get through the most difficult year of her life Renee hit her goal in 2016 while battling breast cancer with the help of a great support system of family, friends and fellow CENTURY 21 agents who surrounded her with love and support. Ken Gibson showed homes for her when she was too sick from the chemo to get out; Norma Rogers and Patty Huggins helped close deals for her clients, most of whom have become friends; and

Decorative towels that you don’t use except for a showing, a new bathmat and shower curtain are simple clean ups that will make a world of difference. • Fifth, make sure your house is comfortable. If it’s mid-summer, make sure the air is on. There is nothing worse than walking into a home that is warmer than the 85 degrees it is outside. ON the other hand, if it’s 20 degrees outside, your house needs to be toasty warm. You can adjust the thermostat when the showing is over. Remember, we want buyers to feel comfortable so they want your house! • Sixth, move your furniture around. Find different ways to arrange the furniture so that it complements the room. You can call a professional stager or you can easily search the internet and find a website that tells you how to arrange your furniture. You may not like the way it looks but remember, it’s just for a short time and it will help sell your home. • Finally, Clean! Clean like you’ve never cleaned before. Get rid of the clutter and I mean all of the Clutter! Your kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities should sparkle. Put everything away and if you don’t have a place for it, find one. I often suggest to clean a shelf in the pantry to put stuff away prior to a showing. Find a space to hide the litter box and food

You can always go to your local hardware store and purchase some totes, you’re going to have to pack anyway so why not start now. Pack all the stuff that is just hanging around your house that you can’t or won’t throw away. Pack away any clothing and shoes you don’t need for the season. This will make your closets look more spacious and less cramped. Pack away some of the toys, it’s only for a short time. Get rid of end tables/coffee tables or any additional furniture that makes your rooms look small. After you’re done packing, label and stack the totes in a corner of your garage and when you’re ready to move they are easily accessible. You can pick them up and load them on the truck and move them to your new home directly into the rooms they are labeled for. Walk through your house as if you we going to buy it or invite your friends over and ask them to be honest with you. You’ll be amazed at the way you can make your home look at virtually no expense.
