Poland Schools seek levy renewal in March Poland Schools are seeking a $3.6 million levy renewal on the Primary Election ballot on March 15. School administrators want to make sure voters are aware this is a “renewal” and will be used only for the operational expenses of the district. Poland School District Treasurer Donald Stanovcak said the renewal levy would generate nearly $1.4 million annually, and would cost the owner of a $100,000 home $126 per year.

Shale, a retired YSU English teacher, also coauthored “Historic Mill Creek Park.” The group is always encouraging new membership and the membership drive for 2016 is in full swing. Annual membership dues are $10 per per-

son. Donations are always welcome. The group relies on membership dues and donations to continue providing educational programs about Poland’s history and to maintain the Little Red Schoolhouse Museum. Send checks made payable to Poland Historical Society to P.O. 5052, Poland, Ohio 44514. Be sure to include your name, address, phone number and email address with your check.

Cold weather for Frozen party at Poland library By ALEXIS BARTOLOMUCCI abartolomucci@vindy.com

The cold didn’t bother the Poland residents when they came to the “Frozen” themed Valentine’s Day party at the Poland library on Feb. 13. Jen Kuczek put together a “Frozen” Valentine’s Day party for children to come to at the

Poland library the day before Valentine’s Day. The event was filled with different “Frozen” activities for the children to play. “I didn’t think anyone was going to come because of the weather, but we had about 53 people show up so far,” said Kuczek. Children, most of them girls,

came to make crafts like Frozen Valentine’s Day cards and eat “moose munch” for a snack. The movie “Frozen” played during the event for people to take a break from the activities and watch. There was a “Frozen” photo area set up on one side of the room for the children to use props and take a picture. Props

included Elsa hair, an Olaf mouth and plenty of speech bubbles for the children to choose for their pictures. One popular game was the snowball toss. There were three different buckets for children to throw white balls into and each bucket represented a different level. The higher the level, the harder the shot.

Children dig into the life of a groundhog at Ford Nature Center By ALEXIS BARTOLOMUCCI abartolomucci@vindy.com

Once per month, Ford Nature Center hosts a program for children about nature and the different animals in it. This month, the children learned about groundhogs on Feb. 5, just a few days after Groundhog’s Day. Hillary Lenton, Mill Creek Park naturalist, taught the children all about groundhogs and their lifestyle. Lenton went over the different names for groundhogs, such as whist lepigs, groundhogs and woodchucks. Groundhogs got the name whistlepig because they whistle to each other to show signs of danger. The activity the children participated in this month was tunnel crawling. Lenton set up two tunnels for the children to crawl through like groundhogs would do in their tunnels they dig. Several of the children returned to the tunnels to play in after the program was over. “The children were crawling through the tunnels,” said Lenton. “The groundhogs dig their holes in the ground, they dig tunnels and move about 700

The students and teachers of Dobbins Elementary set up their classrooms to celebrate Valentine’s Day with parties on Feb. 10, including plenty of ice cream. Many of the PTO members and other parents came to Dobbins to help pass out the ice cream to the students. Each classroom had ice cream and several toppings for the students to create their own ice cream sundaes. A lot of the teachers said they

were happy the parties were at the end of the day because the students were so hyped up on sugar. They try to keep things simple for the students because it’s their party and it gives them a time to talk and hang out with their friends in the classroom. The classrooms were full of students walking around passing out Valentines and eating candy and ice cream. The students were excited at the opportunity to be able to spend time with each other and have a fun end of the day before a long weekend.

James G. Leone, D.C.

As a family of four, being overweight almost our entire lives, we never thought we could feel this good again (at my age, 72). Many thanks to Dr. James Leone and his kind, helpful staff in Boardman, Ohio for introducing us to The NutriMost Fat Loss Program. We not only lost almost 40 lbs. in 40 days, better health has returned. My husband, age 67, was off his diabetes medicine in 10 days. My daughter & I are off our blood pressure medication and blood pressure is Normal. It was so exciting to get up every morning and see who lost the most weight and start off a brand new day with more energy, fat loss, and better health. Absolutely too good to be true. Many aches & pains are gone. We are anxious to start on our 2nd round of the program to reach our goal weight!! Thanks again. Rudy, Kathryn, Miriam, Kathy D.
