Faith is a beautiful girl with gorgeous green eyes, awaiting her forever home. She is so sweet that she will melt your heart. She gets along with all of the other dogs at Pawz 2 Adopt, and loves to play with her best friend, Emily. She is even good with cats. She keeps her crate clean, but they aren’t positive she is 100 percent housebroken. If you have a place in your heart and your home for Faith, send a personal message to the Pawz 2 Adopt Facebook page and help put a smile on her face!
Handsome Mr. Winston is still looking for the perfect country home. He needs room to run and play. He would like a home with other dogs, where he can romp around and be a dog. City life isn’t for him. Pawz 2 Adopt is not sure how he does with little children, but an older child would be a great companion for him. The shelter doesn’t know how he does with cats, he may chase them. Contact Nancy Ferrell Logero with Pawz 2 Adopt if you are interested in giving him the loving home this guy needs.

Breaking ground for third fire station By ALEXIS BARTOLOMUCCI abartolomucci@vindy.com
The Cardinal Joint Fire District hosted a groundbreaking event for its third fire station on July 6 on Herbert Road. CJFD partnered with Balong Steines Hendricks and Manchester Architects to help create a building that CJFD has been working on for several years. More jobs will be created with the opening of the third fire station. “This facility will help with the growth of the city and the township, and allow us to maintain the ISO ratings that we currently have,” said City Council member and CJFD Board President, John Morvay. The third station will provide a step for a better response and will be covering the north and west side of the fire district. Fire Chief Don Hutchinson explained that the fire depart-
ment gets two calls 27 percent of the time. The new station will allow those second calls to be answered with the extra staffing available. The majority of the calls are taken by the main station and with the new station taking calls, the main one will become more available. “This will put a third truck on the road with paramedics and cover areas more efficiently,” said Hutchinson. The new building will have a 56-seat training room, a ladder training area and a confined space area for training. There will also be a medical treatment room and a decontamination room. Construction for the project started on July 11 and will cost $2.6 million. It is projected to take 8-10 months. Canfield’s histor y. The kids learned a lot,” said CHC thirdgrade teacher Kara Mikolich. Each class was assigned a color of T-shirt to wear, so teachers and accompanying parent volunteers could keep track of each class while taking the tour. To end their walking tour, the students enjoyed a brown bag lunch at the new Canfield library. This year marked the sixth year of the tour, which was or ig i na l ly created by C.H. Campbell third-grade teachers Marian Bailey and Heidi Snyder and Hilltop Elementary School third-grade teacher Jenny Beil. The teachers researched the historical stops to correlate with third-grade content standards, which includes learning about your community.
