Library makes fast and easy energy bites By ALEXIS BARTOLOMUCCI abartolomucci@vindy.com
Several guests attended the Austintown library on July 18 to learn how to make no bake energy bites. Austintown librarian Lindsay Platt supplied an instruction list and the ingredients for guests to make their own no bake energy bites to take home. The energy bites used honey, peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chips, vanilla extract and ground flax seeds. All the of items were products anyone could buy at the store to make their own energy bites at home.
All the ingredients got mixed together in a bowl and then molded into little balls. Once the energy bites were molded, they had to be chilled for 30 minutes to become firm and then they were ready to eat. Platt printed out instructions for the guests to take with them for future reference if they wanted to make them again. The ingredient list is flexible if there is an ingredient someone doesn’t like or is allergic to. Several things could be substituted in and out of the recipe. The no bake energ y bites provided a quick and easy way Neighbors | Alexis Bartolomucci to make a snack for anyone to Guests at the No Bake Energy Bites program at the Austintown library on enjoy. July 14 molded their mixed ingredients into balls to take home.

Aug. 31 at 45 McClurg Road in Boardman. The official opening is on July 27 from 3-5 p.m. in the Gallery at the Y. The reception, which is free and open to the public, will include cake and punch, plus music by local favorites, Steve Fazzini and Mike Roncone. In the spirit of the theme, red carpet and/or 1940s era attire is encouraged. Cecilia Newman, who donated the works after reading about the Y’s arts programs, will be the guest of honor. Because the paintings were created before she met her husband, Cecilia doesn’t have much information regarding their origins. Anyone who remembers Ervin is asked to contact Suzanne Gray at the Board-
