Jubilee Christian cuts ribbon on new facility By ABBY SLANKER neighbors@vindy.com

Jubilee Christian Fellowship hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for its recently-completed facility on an 11-acre campus on Aug. 9. Founded in 1994 by Pastor Jeffrey H. Mincher, Jubilee Christian Fellowship is a non-denominational Christian church teaching Bible principles. Jubilee offers ministry to people of all ages and backgrounds in the Mahoning Valley. The new building features state-ofthe-art technology in the sanctuary for praise and worship along with a nursery, children’s church, teen area, fellowship hall and kitchen and expansive athletic fields. “We have waited 18 years for this,” said Grace Mincher, as she looked over the new sanctuary which holds up to 300 people. As several parishioners gathered outside for the ribbon cutting, Mark Kholos, Regional Chamber account executive, welcomed them all to the special event. “We appreciate the investment Jubilee Christian Fellowship in our community. Human hands built this church, but the hand of God is behind everything. This church was built on His time frame, not ours. We appreciate you being a part of the Chamber of Commerce and being out in the community,” Kholos said. Pastor Mincher then performed the honors of cutting the ribbon, prompting a large round of applause and cheers from his parishioners. Weekly services take place at 10 a.m. on Sundays, with Bible study at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. A dedication service for the new facility will take place in October. For more information about Jubilee Christian Fellowship, call 330-533-7730 or visit jubileecf.com.

Swim teams to host golf scramble By ABBY SLANKER neighbors@vindy.com

The Canfield High School Swim and Dive Team, in cooperation with the Canfield Swim and Tennis Club Swim Team, will host its first ‘Race to the Wall’ Golf Scramble at Diamondback Golf Course on Sept. 10. The scramble will have a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The event is being offered to ra ise money to suppor t both the Canfield High School Swim and Dive Team and the Ca nf ield Sw im a nd Tennis Club Swim Team. “The high school Swim and Dive Boosters raises money to help the school offset the cost of the YSU pool fees, coaches and assistants, transportation

and meals for some of the bigger meets. As treasurer of the boosters, I saw the need to add another fundraising event to help offset the rising pool cost and other expenses we pay every year,” said Mark Brucoli, ‘Race to the Wall’ Golf Scramble organizer and CHS Swim and Dive Boosters treasurer. There will be several games at the event, and the deadline to sponsor or make golfer reservations is Sept. 6. “There will be cash prizes for the top three places. There w i l l a lso be a hole-i n-one prize, skins, 50/50, and other games. We need all sponsors and golfer reservations no later than 7 p.m. Sept. 6, so we can finalize all the plans,”

Brucoli said. To make reservations or become a sponsor, contact Brucoli at mark.brucoli@ies-us. com. “ We a re ac c ept i ng hole sponsors for $50 per hole and we can always use more,” Brucoli said. The Canfield High School Swim and Dive Boosters plan on making the golf scramble an annual event. “This is my last year with a swimmer, but there are several parents with younger kids who want to continue t his event next year,” Brucoli said. Members of the swim teams will be on-site working various prize holes and helping in setup and cleanup.
