The Victorian Player’s, in Conjunction with Centaur Stage Productions, recently announced their annual traditional holiday show, “In the Spirit of Christmas.” “In The Spirit” is a completely new show every year. Only the name remains the same. “In The Spirit” is an evening of three holiday-themed one-act plays that express all the joy, hopefulness and happiness the season can bring. This year’s production includes three scripts, all of which are making their stage debut, and all written by nationally known playright Dwayne Yancey of Virginia. “In the Spirit of Christmas” is directed by Sam Luptak Jr. The production runs Dec. 3, 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 4 and 11 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $9 for seniors and students. Group rates are available. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling 330-746-5455. All proceeds of the show benefit the Victorian Players Handicap Accessibility Project. Victorian Players Theatre is located at 702 Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown. Pictured are Lynne Peterson of Salem (left) and Robert Elway of Youngstown playing grandparents who dress up as the undead to make their granddaughter’s Christmas special, in “A Zombie Christmas”, at the Vic.

A child dressed as a Lego Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle went trick or treating in the woods during Boardman Park’s Boo thru the Woods event on Oct. 16.

Children follow trails for treats By ALEXIS BARTOLOMUCCI abartolomucci@vindy.com

The fourth annual Boo thru the Woods event was hosted by Boardman Park on Oct. 16. More than 2,000 people attended the annual event in their Halloween costumes to go Trickor-Treating through the woods at Boardman Park. Twenty-six local businesses set up tables along the path in the woods to pass out candy and other treats to the children. The event was free for participants. The only thing that people would pay for was food from the concessions. There were also other activities that guests could participate in during the Boo thru the Woods event. Pumpkins were available to carve for the Great Pumpkin Carve-Out con-

test. A bounce house and other family-friendly activities were also offered. “This is a growing event. This is the biggest one we’ve had,” said Boardman Park recreation director Karen McCallum. Boo thru the Woods is a weather-driven event and with the sunshine and warm weather, many people spent the day outside collecting treats and spending time together. Children and adults dressed up in a variety of costumes. There were animals, cartoon characters and several others. Boardman Park hosts several Halloween events for families throughout the month of October. More information on the different activities at the park can be found at www.BoardmanPark.com.
