Two Malta-born are among Australian Day honourees

Two Malta-born gentlemen, Emmanuel (Bill) Borg, OAM from Erskine Park NSW, and Joseph

Alexander Galea OAM, now living at The Entrance NSW, are among the 1047 Australians recognised and named in the Australia Day Honours List 2023

Announcing the honourees, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, said that the recipients have had a significant impact at the local, national and international level and are, quite simply, inspiring, Emmanuel Borg OAM was honoured for service to rugby league, especially to the St Clair Junior Rugby League Club, and the popular singer/musician/entertainer Joseph Alexander Galea OAM for his contribution to music Both were recognised for their services to the Maltese community Bill’s wife, Australian-born Karyn, was also honoured with an OAM.
