Press Release WLSER 28th July - 10th August 2012 ‘Western LifeStyle Everyday Recipe’ or ‘WLSER’ is a visually and thought provoking exhibition of drawings by Iker Garcia Barrenetxea which will be showcased at The Vyner Studio from July 28th until 10th August, 2012. Inspired by many different forms of communication, such as new media, apps, gadgets and links, social media and advertising, and how these ‘ingredients’ work and affect to the human beings day-by-day as a result of unconsciously training of our “analog” brains to establish links with any information we deal with. Iker’s exhibition goes back to the simplicity of the lines in drawing, influenced by the social saturation of the Olympics and of the British identity, commenting on this through his illustrations of British culture in the throws of its media intensity.
About the Artist Iker García Barrenetxea is a painter, an illustrator and a muralist who is the creative director and founder of The Vyner Studio. Sometimes he approaches reality through figurative works, as his London paintings; or through more abstract style as his drawings and paintings of imaginary characters that reflect moods, relationships between the observed and the observer. Furthermore, Iker´s fascination for the use of colour and the ability of drawing to study or experiment with the different media conclude with a large body of work that is not restricted to just one style. Some of his latest works have involved large scale mural paintings and at times performing in front of live audience. García believes in these casual performances because they allow him to experiment with a different spontaneities and rhythms achieved than when working in the privacy of his studio. http://www.thevynerstudio.co.uk/#!Iker%20Garcia%20Barrenetxea%20/cpwm
