Wānaka Toastmasters Open Evening
Come and join Wānaka Toastmasters for a free Open Evening. Everyone is welcome and it’s a great opportunity to nd out what Toastmasters is all about.
For nearly 100 years, Toastmasters International has helped millions of people around the world to become more e ective and con dent public speakers. With over 14,000 clubs in 144 countries, we are very lucky to have our very own club here in Wānaka.
But isn’t public speaking just for stars and politicians?
Not at all! Public speaking is all around us and required in so many situations, such as in social gatherings, work meetings and presentations just to name a few. Would you like to become more con dent in public speaking? Toastmasters can help. Toastmasters has tried and tested tools and tips to master the art of speaking. In a fun and supportive environment, you will be able to practise your speaking skills and meet new people.
Sum up your courage, bring a friend and come along to the open evening at St John, 4 Link Way, Wānaka on Thursday, 27 April. Free tea, co ee and nibbles will be provided.
Doors open at 6.30pm and the meeting will start at 7.15pm.

The Wanaka Concert Society, in partnership with Chamber Music New Zealand, presents Les Voisins
Justine Cormack – violin, James Bush – cello and Simon Martyn-Ellis - theorbo and guitars
A journey into French music through the ages: from the intensely emotional world of Baroque, including New Zealand composer Alex Taylor’s own response, through to the vibrant colours of Ravel’s impressionism, and into the irresistible swing of guitarist Django Reinhardt and the grandfather of jazz violin, Stéphane Grappelli, with the Hot Club de France.
About the Trio
Les Voisins (Neighbours) is a coming together of worlds, neighbours, and friends.
Violinist Justine Cormack and cellist James Bush grew up next door to each other in Christchurch and have remained close friends throughout their diverse careers: Justine nurturing and promoting the best of New Zealand music through her performances with NZTrio, James pursuing the freedom and energy of Baroque performance practice with many of Europe’s top groups. While performing, they met Australian lutenist and guitarist Simon Martyn-Ellis, a sought-after theorbist who exudes musicality, warmth, and positivity.
