Can you help Parents and Friends of MAC build an adventure playground for Wānaka, at Mount Aspiring College?
The Parents and Friends of MAC community group has announced plans to build a new adventure playground at Mount Aspiring College in Wānaka. The group aims to raise $80,000 by 2024 to complete the playground, which will be an inclusive space designed to encourage imaginative play and physical activity. The playground will feature a range of climbing structures and surfaces, and will provide a safe and fun environment for the school’s 1,300 students to explore, take risks, and challenge themselves. Parents and Friends of MAC are seeking community support to help fund the playground. Donations can be made via our Givealittle page www.givealittle.co.nz/ org/mount-aspiring-college or directly to the MAC Board of Trustees Westpac account: 03-1739-0027820-00 with the reference ‘playground’.
Principal Nicola Jacobsen expressed gratitude for the support of the local community and highlighted that the playground will bene t not only the students, but also the whole community by providing a place for families to come together and enjoy the outdoor environment.
The Parents and Friends of MAC group plays a vital role in building the school community and promoting a positive environment for students, teachers, families, and the wider community.

Professor Murray Thomson, University of Otago
In this presentation, Prof Murray will share some or his ndings on the pace of ageing and on the oral health of older people, underlining the need for caution in interpreting associations observed in old age between aspects of oral and general health (most notably cognitive decline). Murray will also discuss how we can best ensure good oral health in old age.
Murray Thomson is a 1981 dental graduate of the University of Otago. Early in his career, he worked as a general dental surgeon in NZ and England. Following further study in both countries, he was a public health dentist based in Palmerston North for seven years. His academic research career commenced at the University of Adelaide in 1994, and he moved to the University of Otago School of Dentistry in 1996 where he is now a professor.
