for Grades 9-12
Academic for-credit programs and workshops are offered in the 2022 Wellington Summer Program for a fee. Students earn 1/3 credit (the equivalent of one trimester) for each completed academic for-credit program. No credit is awarded for workshops. Programs are subject to cancellation based on enrollment.

Art Portfolio Development Workshop
We’ll prepare portfolios for college applications and supplements by studying sample portfolios, speaking to college representatives, and creating pieces to include in our portfolios.

Crochet for Beginners
You’ll be introduced to the basics of crocheting. As we create our own projects, you will become familiar with the materials and tools of crochet, as well as the basic stitches and skills that comprise the foundation of all crochet projects.

Community Mural Arts
In this for-credit program, we’ll learn about the rich history of community arts, specifically street art and murals. In teams, we’ll create murals on campus for specifically designed spaces learning the design process, planning, and execution from start to finish.
Note: 2 week class (July 10-14 & July 1721) and for credit.

Blow the Whistle! Become an Interscholastic Athletics Official
You’ll learn the introductory skills and concepts needed to become an interscholastic athletics official. We’ll discuss officiating basics, the science behind good officiating, the art of officiating, and how these skills can become a satisfying vocation. At the end, you’ll have the opportunity to apply for and (continued) receive an Officiating Permit through the Ohio High School Athletic Association.

WEEK 8 – JULY 31 - AUGUST
4 The Actor’s Process
You’ll use improvisation exercises and monologues to awaken your creative voice, overcome inhibitions, build confidence, and hone your performing abilities. Together we’ll explore the technical aspects of theater and gain a basic understanding of lighting, blocking, and direction. At the end, you’ll perform in an original work written by you and your peers.
